Time Travel: Pampered by the Aloof Prince-Chapter 20 - What If I Want to Lay a Finger on the Prince
20: Chapter 20 What If I Want to Lay a Finger on the Prince?
20 -20 What If I Want to Lay a Finger on the Prince?
In the Imperial Study Room, Emperor Li Tianze was somewhat irritated as he watched a group of ministers debating below.
“Prince Qi is decisive and has the most popular support; the autumn hunt ceremony should be presided over by His Highness Prince Qi.”
“Prince An is diligent and wholeheartedly serves the people; if this matter is not entrusted to His Highness Prince An, I’m afraid it will be difficult to convince the public!”
“…”
With the autumn hunt looming, who should preside over the ceremony was a matter on which opinions amongst the officials varied widely.
Aside from a few old ministers who preferred not to meddle, the rest were divided into two factions.
One faction supported Prince Qi, while the other stood with Prince An; their daily debates at court were so fierce that they gave him a headache.
Today, taking advantage of the Princess’s birthday, several highly respected ministers brought up the matter again, insisting on a definitive conclusion.
Between a rock and a hard place, Li Tianze found it difficult to decide, as assigning the task to either side was problematic.
In his eyes, both his sons had their merits, though he was more inclined towards Li Mingjue, feeling his younger self reflected in him.
However, as the ruler of the country, he could not make decisions based purely on personal preference.
His gaze then turned to Prime Minister Qi Wei, who had been standing silently to the side, and he raised his hand to ask, “Prime Minister, what is your opinion on how to resolve this matter?”
Everyone else naturally fell silent.
Although Qi Wei’s daughter was married to Prince Qi, he himself was an unequivocal supporter of Prince An’s Party.
Sure enough, upon hearing Li Tianze’s words, he stepped forward and spoke with hands joined in front of him: “Your Majesty, this humble official believes it most proper to entrust Prince An with presiding over the matter.
After all, Prince Qi is young and, in terms of experience, Prince An has somewhat more.”
Li Tianze pondered for a moment and said, “The Prime Minister’s words make some sense; let Us give this some further thought.”
Qi Wei and Li Ming’an exchanged glances, both determined to prevail in this matter.
Li Mingjue, on the other hand, watched the scene unfold without uttering a word, a trace of mockery flashing in his eyes.
Since the Emperor had already spoken, no matter how much resentment others held, they dared not voice it openly and could only leave the Imperial Study Room in silence.

Finally finding a moment of peace, Li Tianze asked the Chief Eunuch Zhou Fu, who was next to him, “Is the birthday feast for the Princess set in the back garden?”
Zhou Fu nodded, “Yes, Your Majesty.”
“We shall make our way to the Imperial Garden.
I wish to see it for myself.”
Having said this, he turned to Li Mingjue and Li Ming’an standing by and said, “You two accompany Us as well.”
“Yes.”
Remembering his youngest daughter, Li Tianze’s originally stern face softened slightly.
He ordered the prepared gifts to be taken, and set forth toward the direction of the Imperial Garden.
On the way, Li Mingjue deliberately walked very slowly.
Li Ming’an, reminded of Noble Consort An’s plan and wanting to stall him, could only slow down his pace to keep side by side with him.
Soon, the two of them fell far behind.
“Is there something you wish to discuss, Seventh Brother?” Li Ming’an asked, raising an eyebrow at the person suddenly blocking his path.
Li Mingjue’s eyes narrowed slightly, and he looked at him with disapproval, “It seems Third Brother has not learned his lesson.
My Princess is not someone you can lay your hands on.”
Li Ming’an’s pupils constricted, “You know about it all?”
Li Mingjue sneered, “With the evil deeds that Third Brother and Noble Consort An commit, aren’t you afraid of retribution?”
“Retribution?
What’s that?” Li Ming’an’s expression changed, and he suddenly laughed aloud toward the sky, “I only believe in fate!”
His eyes locked onto Li Mingjue, he said threateningly, “If it weren’t for that fool, you probably would have died a long time ago.
I want to catch that fool and have him flayed a thousand times over!”
For over a decade, he had been contending with Li Mingjue both overtly and covertly, finally waiting for the day Li Mingjue would succumb to the poison.
That was clearly the rare poison he’d had someone retrieve from Tulan, incurable and designed to inflict excruciating pain at the time of onset.
Since the day of the poisoning, he had been eagerly anticipating Li Mingjue would be tormented to death.
Once Li Mingjue was dead, the world would be his!
But he had never imagined that, after being sealed in a coffin and sent to the tomb, he would actually come back to life.
And to think it was a fool who had saved him, how could this not infuriate him?
If he couldn’t capture that fool Qi Yu and torment him thoroughly, how would he ever quell the hatred in his heart?
Li Mingjue’s eyes were bloodshot as he glared at him.
This was his dear royal brother, who not only sought to kill him but now dared to lay a hand on his princess consort.
Li Ming’an, however, deliberately provoked him, saying, “She’s just a fool, why are you so concerned?
Unfortunately, that fool probably doesn’t even know she’s rolling in the sack with some rogue as we speak!”
No sooner had his words fallen than Li Mingjue grabbed him by the neck with one hand.
Li Ming’an let out a muffled grunt, looking at Li Mingjue in disbelief, “You dare to lay hands on me in broad daylight!”
Li Mingjue sneered coldly, his tone sinister, “This prince intends not only to lay hands on you but to have your blood repay the blood debt!”
Li Ming’an saw a glint of bloodthirsty murder in his eyes and felt a bad premonition; just as he was about to struggle, Li Mingjue knocked him out with a single slap.
“Shiqi.” Li Mingjue looked at the man lying on the ground and called out to the shadow nearby.
Shiqi frowned deeply as he looked at the unconscious Li Ming’an.
His prince was still too kind.
If it were him, he would have broken a few bones!
Li Mingjue commanded in a cold tone, “Take him and follow me.”
“Yes.” Shiqi helped the person up, dragging Li Ming’an’s heavy body all the way to Qi Yu.
Qi Yu looked at Li Ming’an, who had a red mark on his neck and lay unconscious on the ground, and clicked her tongue, “That’s really quite pitiful.”
Compared to Li Mingjue, she felt she could be considered kind; at least she had never treated Qi Anran with such ruthlessness.
Li Mingjue took out a handkerchief, wiped his hands, and then spoke indifferently, “That’s what he deserves.”
Qi Yu nodded in agreement, “He really had it coming.”
She had only been exclaiming a moment ago and had no interest in sympathizing with scum.
After having Shiqi move the man to the room next door alongside Qi Anran on a bed, Qi Yu quietly took out some aphrodisiac incense from her space and chuckled at Li Mingjue, “I wonder what expression Noble Consort An will have when she brings someone to catch the adulterers.”
Just imagining the scene made her eyes shine with anticipation.
Li Mingjue saw her conjure up some strange things out of thin air and looked at her with probing eyes, but ultimately said nothing.
He had long known Qi Yu had some secrets, but since she didn’t wish to speak of them, he naturally wouldn’t ask.
After the deed was done, Qi Yu thoughtfully closed the door and pulled Li Mingjue back to the previous room.
She instructed Shen Nanxing and Shiqi to hide in a concealed place and not to come out even if someone arrived later.
Shen Nanxing looked at her worriedly, but Qi Yu patted her hand and pointed to Li Mingjue beside her, “What’s there to be afraid of?
You have your prince with you.”
“But…” She was still not at ease.
Although Li Mingjue could surely protect Qi Yu, he had been severely poisoned and lost all his power; it was still unknown how much he had recovered.
Leaving those two alone in here seemed quite dangerous.
Li Mingjue commanded with an expressionless face, “Leave.”
“Yes.” Shen Nanxing didn’t dare defy his order.
After her departure, only Qi Yu and Li Mingjue were left in the room.
Qi Yu looked at the stoic man and couldn’t resist teasing him with a smile, “Does the prince know what I plan to do next?”
Li Mingjue glanced at her, “Isn’t it for this prince to help you deal with Noble Consort An?”
How could he not understand her little game?
Qi Yu shook her head and leaned in closer under his puzzled gaze, stopping only a fist’s distance away, and spoke in a flirtatious tone, “What if I wanted to take liberties with the prince?”
