Chapter 57: Hiding

Bang!

Ren was thrown into mid-air after blocking Julius’ attack.

’I can’t defeat him using ordinary attacks.’

Even though he had been practicing martial arts for five years, his power was weaker because Julius was an adult and had been practicing martial arts longer than him.

’I will use my secret technique.’

Ren changed his position to Iai stance.

Julius, who was in front of Ren, made fun of him. "Oh! What is this? Some kind of secret technique? Haha." freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Ren said nothing when Julius made fun of him because he needed to focus and control his breathing.

’Moon style sword of drawing techniques – first form: Full Moon.’

He moved in a triquetra pattern before ending it in a circle pattern.

Even though he was only fifteen, his attacks could not be underestimated. Ren had mastered the first three forms, so he could use the first form perfectly.

Julius was shocked by Ren’s attacks.

He tried to defend himself, but his efforts were in vain.

Ren’s attacks were so fast that he could not see them clearly.

’What is this? How could a kid do something like this?’

At that moment, Julius was like a chicken ready to be slaughtered in front of Ren’s deadly and fast attacks.

His blue T-shirt turned red with his blood, and his dagger was thrown into the air as he tried to block Ren’s attacks.

If someone saw them, that person would widen his eyes in shock because it was like their ages were swapped; Ren was the adult, while Julius was the kid.

"Impos...sible." Julius fell to his knees before he finally stopped breathing forever.

Ren stood before Julius’ corpse and looked at him.

He was shocked by what was going on.

He killed someone for the first time, yet he was still calm, as if he had killed countless people before.

’This feeling...’

He did not know what was going on with him, but he felt nothing after killing Julius.

’Was I born to kill?’

He thought like this because, normally, one would tremble or have complicated feelings after killing someone for the first time.

However, something like that did not happen to him, as if he was born to kill people.

"Aaagghhh..."

"Aaagghhh..."

"Aaagghhh..."

The screams of orphans made him come to his senses.

"No. This is not the time to think about it. We need to leave this place immediately." He grabbed Scarlett’s right hand and dragged her away from the orphanage.

Like before, Scarlett did not say anything and only stared at him.

Even though some of Julius’ blood was on his face and clothes, she wasn’t scared of him. Her body even stopped trembling as if her body knew she would be safe with him.

As Ren and Scarlett were leaving the orphanage, two members of the Dusk organization caught sight of them.

"Zaid, look! Two kids are trying to escape." A brown-haired man named Dylan pointed his right index finger at Ren and Scarlett.

"Two high-quality kids! Chase them! Don’t let them run away." Zaid rushed toward Ren and Scarlett because he did not want to lose two high-quality kids.

Dylan stopped running when he caught sight of Julius’ corpse. "Zaid, Julius is dead."

Zaid stopped running, too.

’What?! Dead?’

The expression of deep shock blossomed on his face.

Julius was a powerful martial artist, so it should be almost impossible for him to die.

’Was he killed by the caretakers?’

He thought the caretakers killed Julius because, from his point of view, it was impossible for the children to kill him.

Zaid remembered Ren and Scarlett again. "Forget about him! He is already dead. Let’s just go after these two high-quality kids."

Dylan nodded and ran after them.

Ren, who noticed them, gritted his teeth.

’Two people are chasing us.’

He thought of a way to escape from them.

’Yes, forest. Forest is a good place to hide.’

With that idea in mind, Ren dragged Scarlett to the forest.

Like before, Scarlett did not say anything.

She would follow him wherever he went because she had put her life in his hands.

"Scarlett, let’s hide in these bushes." Ren said in a low voice.

She nodded her head, giving a sign that she agreed with his idea.

"Ssttt! Don’t make any noise." He said in a low voice.

She nodded again.

"Where are they?" Zaid was unhappy when they lost track of them.

"Let’s look for them more carefully. I’m sure they are still in this area." Dylan was also enraged because Ren and Scarlett could be sold at a high price.

When Zaid and Dylan were heading to their hiding place, Scarlett’s body trembled again. The closer Zaid and Dylan were to them, the bigger the fear within her.

Ren did not want her to make a noise, so he covered her mouth and gave her a sign to keep quiet.

As he was paying attention to Zaid and Dylan, he held his sword firmer.

He would attack them if they found out their hiding place because that was the only way to protect Scarlett.

"Just where are they?" Zaid wore an annoyed face because they lost their track.

"Should we look elsewhere?" Dylan inquired.

The duo did not know that Ren and Scarlett were right behind them because they were hiding in the bushes.

Ren kept giving her signs to stay quiet and calm because the distance between them was less than two meters.

Like before, Scarlett only stared at Ren.

Of course, she was still scared because it could be said their lives would be over if they were caught.

"Let’s search in that area." Dylan uttered.

"Alright." Zaid responded.

After Dylan and Zaid disappeared into the distance, Ren and Scarlett came out of their hiding place.

Ren immediately grabbed her right hand and dragged her in the opposite direction because he did not want to be caught by them.

After running for several minutes, they finally managed to escape from Dylan and Zaid.

This mean, they had passed the first test, and at the same time, the second test had begun.

Hunger and Homelessness test.
