Trapped In A Novel As The Breeding Mate For Four Powerful Alphas-Chapter 120: What are you scheming, old man?
Chapter 120: What are you scheming, old man?
Contrary to what I thought, I was able to eat just fine. Maybe it’s because Seo-Jun paid attention to his phone more than me, which was a good thing.
I mean, I don’t know what he was doing and why it was engaging enough to make him forget I was even at the table, but I was thankful.
I was able to put food in my mouth, chew, and swallow without worrying about a thing. I mean, isn’t that great?
Even Ki-hoon tried not to look at me too much and focused on his own meal while keeping an eye on Seo-Jun. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
He wouldn’t let Seo-Jun play any tricks.
"So, Hyung, do you like taking pictures as well as reading?" Min-Cheol asked as he took the liberty of cleaning my mouth for me.
"Well, yes." I said. I had never been an active lover of photography since I didn’t exactly go places, but if I saw something picture-worthy, I would want to take a picture.
"Then, should I get you a camera?" Seo-Jun suddenly asked, taking the words right out of Min-Cheol’s mouth, and I glanced at him.
Wasn’t he looking at his phone? Why was he suddenly looking this way?
"If you want to take pictures, I can get you a camera. I have quite the collection." He said, and my eyes squinted in distrust.
What was he playing at?
"I’ll get Hyung the camera. You don’t need to bother." Min-Cheol said in defence, but Seo-Jun waved it off.
"Oh, no. It’s not a bother at all." He said. "In fact, I can get you one right now. I do have a very special one I brought with me." He snapped his fingers, asking for the maid to come closer, and while I pondered why he was going so far as to give me a camera, I couldn’t come up with any good reason.
There was no way he would suddenly want to give me a present. He was definitely suspicious.
The maid came back with a camera. I wasn’t a camera expert, but I could tell that one was worth a lot of money.
"Here, you can have this." He said as he stood up from his seat and dropped the camera in front of me. "I even have a memory card inside, so you can start taking pictures right away. And if you’re curious about what’s inside the memory card," his lips curled up into a smirk as he whispered. "...you can check it out later."
His whisper made my spine shiver. He talked so close to my ear, and I think I’ve gotten quite sensitive around my ear.
"I... I understand." I said.
"What are you scheming, old man?" Min-Cheol asked, his expression dark and sensitive.
"What do you mean?" Seo-Jun shrugged his shoulders and then dropped his hand on my shoulder, leaning in as he asked, "Is it wrong when I give him a gift and it’s not when you do?"
I pressed my lips together and looked away. His hand on my shoulder was making me uncomfortable.
"Besides, I can’t harm this bunny with a simple camera, so you don’t have to worry." He said, and his eyes fell on me. "You can ’use’ my camera however you want because it’s now yours."
His words were insinuating, but I couldn’t grasp what he was up to.
It was true that Seo-Jun was never up to any good, but if he was going to give me this expensive camera just to fuel his scheme, then it was his loss.
At least I didn’t have to worry about him framing me that I stole it since Ki-hoon and Min-Cheol were there when he gave it to me.
’It must be something in the memory card.’ I thought and decided to check it, but just then, Cha Hyun-woo entered the mansion, carrying his handbag and upholding his reputation as the lazy handsome-faced doctor.
Wait, when did he get that title again?
"Hyung, it’s time for your check-up." Min-Cheol said.
"Ah, yes." I would check what he put in the camera later.
I sat on the couch in the living room and watched Cha Hyun-woo as he checked my pulse, checked my heartbeat, and even checked on the wound on my head.
And while he did that, he did not fail to glance up at me as if trying to read something on my face.
What now? Was he going to say I was up to no good this time? If he had something to say, he could just say it to my face.
"You’re more or less fine now." He said. "But just malnourished."
Obviously.
"There is a medicine I would like you to take." He said, searching his bag. "You just need to take it once a week."
"What will it do for me?" I asked, but he passed, shifted his gaze to me, and took a moment to examine me as if I had asked a forbidden question and said,
"If you don’t want to take it, you don’t have to." His plain yet harsh words made me confused.
"I didn’t say that." I said with a rather anxious tone.
Why was he being so mean? I only asked what the effects of the medicine were. He could at least be that much of a decent human being, as well as my doctor, and tell me.
"If I prescribe medicine for you, of course it is for your good since I am your doctor." He said.
"Of course, I know that." I said. "I just wanted to know."
He looked at me as if he was scorning me and then turned to look around. My masters were not anywhere near because he had asked them to give us some space and not interrupt his check-up.
"It sounded like you were suspicious of me. If you’re going to doubt me and my professionalism, then just say it out loud. Don’t ask me such questions." He said, his tone more serious and harsher than before, with that scornful look in his eyes, and that did not make me feel better in the slightest.
His tone, his annoying and irritated tone, was already getting to me, and now he was being harsh on top of it.
If he didn’t want to treat me or look after my health, then he could stop. He could just focus on the four masters who were worthy of his skills.
I clenched my fists and bit my lip.
This... This was so annoying.
"You..." I had no idea when I began to cry.
Maybe it was because he hurt my feelings in a way I didn’t expect. I had hardened my heart so that I wouldn’t get hurt or swayed by what my masters, most especially Seo-Jun, did to me, but what could I do when there was someone aside from my masters who was able to say mean and rude things to me and belittle me with fancy words?
He did it before and it sure made me feel shitty to the point I just wanted to ignore him. And he’s doing it again. What does he want from me?
"Hey, why are you crying?" He asked, shocked at my sudden tears and how my face had twisted. His eyebrows were knitted to the point they were almost touching each other, and his forehead was creased.
"It’s because you’re such a cruel man." I said, wiping my tears with the hem of my sleeves that had covered my part of my palm and he paused in shock.
I don’t know if saying that would change anything, but I wish he would feel as bad as I did.
