Tyrant's Obsession With The Heiress-Chapter 80: The Allure Of An Angel Can Be Quite Maddening
Chapter 80 - The Allure Of An Angel Can Be Quite Maddening
It was that moment that Lady Karina picked to wave Orpheus over since she had clearly found something she wanted to purchase. The man went to her immediately, leaving behind Lyall to watch his liege.
Lyall was not completely convinced by their conversation that Orpheus was still as focused on his border conquest as he should be or as he once was. The man had displayed behaviour far out of the ordinary as of late.
And Lyall knew the time would come when steps would have to be taken to ensure that Van Merikh did not completely lose his concentration.
He knew he would have to be prepared to act for the greater good of all of them, lest his liege become too far gone and beyond saving.
He'd done it before and he would do it again if it was necessary.
On the other hand, Orpheus was more than pleased to purchase the lady whatever she desired, especially since he was responsible for the ruin of her beautiful gown.
Lady Karina held up a sheet of fabric, which was a smooth, dark blue cloth with a soft shine to it. She held it up to the light, watching how it shimmered faintly, not with glitter or jewels, but with a silken sheen.
Orpheus had no knowledge of materials other than the ones related to armour or plate protection, but judging by the way the lady paid careful attention to it, it must have been of high quality.

"This is called nightweave," Lady Karina stated, running her fingers over the fabric. "It's light but strong and doesn't wrinkle easily."
Orpheus, even with no understanding, let his dual-coloured eyes follow her fingers, trying to picture the fabric for what it was. He didn't say anything right away, just watched her quietly.
"I think it would make for a lovely travel gown, perhaps with a square neckline," she continued, her nose scrunching in concentration. "Ah yes, fitted sleeves would go perfectly well with it; that will make it simple but sharp." She looked at him, holding the fabric against her front like she was already wearing it.
Like before, Orpheus couldn't take his eyes off her and the man actually removed his helmet, something he never did when he was out in the open and at risk of being attacked since he made for a big target.
He wanted to take in every inch and curve of her, tucking the helmet under his arm. He imagined her adorned in the gown she spoke of, picturing the colour of the material against her creamy skin and how well it would make her eyes stand out even more.
And then he imagined laying her down in bed, visualising how the rosy colour would rise in her cheeks as she slowly, teasingly slipped the gown off one shoulder.
He had no doubt that her shoulder would turn red under his touch; it would make for a lovely match against the colour of her gown.
Orpheus' mind grew distant since it was filled with scenes of the lady he was determined to make his wife.
Oh, how he would give anything to see her golden blonde locks splayed out across the pillows, the flush in her cheeks, the rise and fall of her tender breasts as he drew her to heights of pleasure she would have only read about in books.
It was difficult not to imagine her gown pushed up to her waist, and oh, the sweet curves there he wanted to sink his fingers into were nearly maddening. Lately, he'd been containing his thoughts about her, but all sense of restraint was lost.
The man had no limits to what he wanted to do to her, how he wanted to taste every part of her body, or brand her skin with his marks in places the whole world could see so all would know that she belonged to him.
"Orpheus?" Lady Karina uttered his name, tilting her head in confusion since she didn't understand why the man was looking at her so intensely. "Is something wrong? Perhaps you think the fabric is not beautiful?"
"Nay," he said quickly, shaking his head out of his thoughts. "You are far more beautiful than the fabric, but it will complement you well. Its colour is a fair match against your eyes, my lady."
That compliment was enough to make her cheeks redden. She never took Orpheus to be one so honest with his thoughts; it was rare for him to compliment something or say anything good at all.
But she quite liked that he approved of the fabric.
And for Orpheus? The urge to bend down and kiss the lady was as strong as ever.
He had kissed her lips and tasted the sweet caverns of her mouth, but how did she taste between her thighs? No doubt, she would be just as sweet there, if not more. He was aching to have his fill, but the lady undoubtedly wanted no part of that.
It was agonising to wait. Torturous to keep imagining the moment that perhaps would never come.
"Thank you," Lady Karina said, standing on the tips of her toes to reach him. She placed a soft kiss on his cheek, taking him by surprise. "Will you purchase it for me?"
Purchase it for her? God's blood, he was about to purchase the whole bloody material stall for her.
"Aye, my lady, whatever you wish," he answered, nodding to the vendor. "I will purchase every bolt of high-quality material you have. All of it; seek the lady's opinion on which ones she prefers."
Lady Karina brought her hand to her mouth in surprise. "All of it? Orpheus, that is too much. One bolt of fabric is enough to replace the one I'm wearing."
"No arguments," he said sharply, although not intended badly. "Will you disobey me again, my lady? I have still not brought upon you your punishment for your defiance."
Lady Karina's lips folded sullenly, but she held back any protests. She had to admit that having new additions to her wardrobe was satisfying, but it was the first time she had ever let a man other than her father spend on her.
It felt somewhat strange but also rewarding in some way, especially since it was an unexpected gesture from Orpheus.
She sighed, shaking her head. "Very well." She cleared her throat. "If your coffers run dry, I will not be held responsible."
"I can think of a suitable way for you to repay me if you are not too keen on accepting my gesture," Orpheus said, his lips twitching into that handsome smile that was always enough to make her go weak in the knees.
"What...way?" Lady Karina swallowed.
Orpheus glanced around, searching to see if any of his men were in sight. He knew that even if he couldn't see them, they would be watching from afar from some part of the town.
If it was just Lyall and the other two knights, it shouldn't matter much what he did with the lady around them.
He tapped a mailed finger to his lips, indicating what form of compensation he wanted from the lady.
"H...Here?" Lady Karina turned bashful, glancing around to find that there were many people around, combing through the streets or secretly eyeing them. "It is...not proper, Orpheus. There are many eyes on us."
Lady Karina set the nightweave fabric down on the vendor's table, passing it along to be wrapped and packaged for purchase.
"Is that a yes?" Orpheus arched his brow, reaching for his coin pouch strapped around his waist.
"Not here." She shook her head firmly and the man took it as approval, noting that the location was the problem. "But you initiated it first."
"That is different..." Lady Karina huffed. "It was a thank you gesture."
"Whatever you say, my lady." He grinned unapologetically.
Lady Karina shook her head and returned her attention to the vendor. She carefully selected different bolts of materials, ranging from local designs to a few foreign designs that caught her eye.
Orpheus waited patiently, having no intention of rushing the lady. Even the way she interacted with the vendor was graceful and somewhat calming.
He was a stark contrast beside her, standing like the black plague while she was a heaven-sent being that brought light wherever she went.
And once she was done, the fabrics all wrapped and packaged, Orpheus paid for the bundle and heaved it onto his shoulder.
"You have not had any rest since we arrived yesterday, so we will stay at an inn for today and depart for Moonveil tomorrow," he said, noticing that she had become rather weary.
He could see the sleep in her eyes and the way she rubbed at her shoulders now and then.
"Mhm," she hummed in response. "I think that would be wise, but what of your men outside the town? They must have camped out in the cold the entire night."
"It is what they are used to." Orpheus shrugged. "Where we go, there are no inns to rest at. We take shelter where we can find it on our journey towards a conquest."
