Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 842 Unexpected Explosion
Chapter 842: Chapter 842 Unexpected Explosion
Long Wu stopped Xiang Yu, then took two steps forward and said, "I feel like you’re not really yourself right now."
Xiang Yu laughed brightly after hearing this, then said, "Not really me? Who else could I be? Stop overthinking and let’s head back."
After saying this, Xiang Yu grabbed Long Wu and started walking forward.
"Don’t brush me off. I’m being serious." Long Wu, seeing Xiang Yu’s indifferent demeanor, grew a bit annoyed.
Just then, Xiang Yu’s phone suddenly rang.
"Brother Yu, something’s happened." Wang Ze’s voice trembled slightly. Though he tried to stay calm, his tone betrayed his anxiety.
"Speak," Xiang Yu said directly, sensing Wang Ze’s tension.
"An explosion occurred at the opera house," Wang Ze said.
"Assemble the rescue team immediately and get people out. Contact Sun Bo and make sure all the necessary connections are in place." Xiang Yu gave his instructions and hung up immediately.
Then, pulling Long Wu along, he quickly headed out.
"What happened?" Long Wu asked, noticing Xiang Yu’s grim expression.
"To the opera house," Xiang Yu said curtly, not offering further explanation. He put Long Wu in the car and sped off.
When Xiang Yu arrived at the scene of the explosion, the place was already surrounded by a crowd. The area was cordoned off by police tape, and only authorized personnel were allowed entry.
Seeing the blast site, Long Wu was too stunned to speak. The massive theater was engulfed in thick smoke, making it hard to even get close, let alone perform rescues.
"What are you doing?" A policeman rushed over to stop Xiang Yu as he crossed the police line.
"My friends are inside," Xiang Yu said solemnly.
Tie Zhuzi and the Old Man had entered the opera house while Xiang Yu was meeting with Long Wu.
Long Wu, standing behind, now understood why Xiang Yu had been driving so recklessly earlier.
"You can’t go in right now! Our rescue team is on the way. Going in now is suicidal," the policeman said, trying to block Xiang Yu.
"By the time the rescue team gets here, they’ll already be charred corpses!" Xiang Yu retorted, shoving the policeman aside and charging forward.
Two other policemen stepped forward to block him.
"You can’t go in," they said sternly.
"Get out of my way!" Xiang Yu shouted. The situation was critical—if no one went inside quickly, the people trapped would either burn to death or suffocate.
The two officers attempted to restrain him, but at that moment, Sun Bo ran over holding a piece of paper.
He waved the document in front of the policemen and said, "He’s with me. Please, let us through."
The policemen saw the stamp and the signature at the bottom of the document—it was signed by their department chief.
Reluctantly, they moved aside to make way.
Without another word, Xiang Yu took off his jacket, soaked it in some water, and charged into the thick smoke.
Sun Bo hesitated, wanting to call out, but Xiang Yu disappeared into the smoke, leaving him no choice but to follow Xiang Yu’s example and rush in as well.
Inside, the opera house was pitch black, making it impossible to see anything. Occasionally, flames flickered briefly before being smothered by the dense smoke.
"Zhuzi!" Xiang Yu shouted.
But the sound of crackling flames and rolling smoke drowned out his voice. No one could hear him.
"Help! Help!" Suddenly, a young girl’s voice cried out from ahead.
Judging by the voice, she seemed to be around ten years old. Xiang Yu quickly moved toward the sound.
"Where are you?" he called.
"Here! Help me!" A small hand reached out from the darkness.
Rushing over, Xiang Yu discovered the girl pinned under two adults. Judging by the scene, her parents had shielded her with their bodies during the explosion.
Without hesitation, Xiang Yu kicked the bodies aside and scooped the girl into his arms, heading back.
At that moment, a figure stumbled in.
"Brother Yu, where are you?" It was Sun Bo. He had charged in to protect Xiang Yu, but once inside, he found himself disoriented and unable to see anything.
Upon spotting a large shadow approaching, Sun Bo’s heart skipped a beat.
Could there really be a monster in this inferno?
Seeing Sun Bo standing dumbly, Xiang Yu thrust the girl into his arms and barked, "Take her out of here, now!"
Still dazed, Sun Bo hesitated until Xiang Yu kicked him, forcing him out.
The thick smoke contained many chemical substances that could easily cause hallucinations.
"Stay outside and wait for the rescuers. Don’t come back in," Xiang Yu shouted, worried that Sun Bo might not find his way out.
After shouting, Xiang Yu rushed toward another hall. Several people lay unconscious on the floor; three others showed signs of movement and were likely still alive.
Xiang Yu dragged two people by their arms to the exit, shouting for help before going back in again.
After several trips, Xiang Yu had rescued no fewer than five people. But there was still no sign of Tie Zhuzi or the Old Man.
Xiang Yu was starting to feel the toll on his body. His injuries had only recently healed, and now he was struggling to breathe.
The air inside grew thinner, and faint hallucinations began to fill Xiang Yu’s vision. He knew it was the result of carbon monoxide poisoning.
There were four halls in the theater. He had already searched three; the last one was at the far end, where the explosion had caused the most damage.
Determined, Xiang Yu forced himself toward the fourth hall. As he approached the doorway, a burst of thick smoke blasted into his face, causing him to fall to his knees, coughing violently.
Suddenly, the surrounding darkness transformed. The thick smoke turned into a serene landscape of birdsong and blooming flowers.
"Xiang Yu..." Familiar voices called out.
Turning his head, he saw his former comrades. They stood there smiling warmly at him.
"Isn’t it exhausting to be alive? Why not come over to our side? It’s so much better with all of us together."
"Yeah, stay here. Don’t leave. The world outside is so bleak—aren’t you tired of it?"
One by one, his ten former teammates spoke cheerfully, painting a scene of their joyful past as if they were all together again.
At the very back, Xiang Yu noticed Qing Lang. Standing there silently, Qing Lang gazed at him coldly, saying nothing.
"Xiang Yu, stop struggling. Stay with us. Being together as brothers is what truly matters." The team captain stepped forward with a gentle smile.
His captain’s smile was as warm as ever. Xiang Yu knew this was all an illusion, yet he couldn’t bring himself to snap out of it.
He felt a deep urge to stay.
"Captain, I’ve wronged all of you," Xiang Yu said, his voice heavy with guilt.
"Come on over." The captain extended a hand, smiling at Xiang Yu. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Shaking his head, Xiang Yu reached into his pocket and tossed a peanut to the captain, saying, "You shouldn’t have let me go first."
He understood that this was a projection of his subconscious, and now was the time to break free. Otherwise, he’d be finished...
