Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 878: Ren Baohe’s Bomb Threat
Chapter 878: Chapter 878: Ren Baohe’s Bomb Threat
"What’s the matter?" Xiang Yu answered the phone directly.
Han Rumei rarely called Xiang Yu, so he instinctively felt that if it was her call, something significant must have happened.
"Have you forgotten about our Dragon Heart already?" Han Rumei said, somewhat disappointed.
Realizing his tone was a bit curt, Xiang Yu laughed awkwardly and said, "How could I?"
Han Rumei didn’t press him on the matter, knowing that her position in Dragon Heart—a classified department—made it understandable for Xiang Yu not to maintain contact.
"I just got word that He Guisheng’s office was blown up," Han Rumei said.
Although Xiang Yu involved her group in many situations, that didn’t mean they were uninformed.
Han Rumei had a clear grasp of urban matters and Xiang Yu’s current situation, but since Xiang Yu didn’t request their involvement, they wouldn’t proactively intervene.
This time, Han Rumei called Xiang Yu for two reasons: one, He Guisheng had been killed in the blast, which might bring benefits to Xiang Yu; and two, she simply wanted to hear his voice.
"Was it Ren Baohe?" Xiang Yu asked, unsurprised. To him, He Guisheng posed no threat; whether he lived or died was irrelevant.
"Most likely. The method used in the explosion was similar to the one at the theater," Han Rumei replied.
"Got it," Xiang Yu said succinctly.
They exchanged a few more casual remarks before ending the call.
Han Rumei stood there holding the phone for a while. She had volunteered to join Dragon Heart, allowing her to watch over Xiang Yu from the shadows. This unspoken affection brought her a peculiar mix of pain and joy that only she understood.
Thinking of He Guisheng, Xiang Yu couldn’t help but shake his head with a sigh. It truly seemed like a case of sowing disaster through one’s own actions.
Ren Baohe was someone He Guisheng had personally invited, yet he ended up dying at Ren Baohe’s hands.
He Guisheng clearly didn’t understand Ren Baohe. If he had known Ren Baohe was part of the Falcon Organization, he surely wouldn’t have dared to provoke him.
Ren Baohe was a malignant tumor in the city that needed to be eliminated. Although Xiang Yu wasn’t currently bound by any missions, he still felt compelled to clean up societal threats.
Privately, Xiang Yu harbored doubts. Logically, he ought to be pursued by someone right now.
Or perhaps, he should have been branded a deserter. But instead, everything was disturbingly quiet, as though nothing had happened during the incident in City No. 6.
Later in the afternoon, Sun Bo hurried into Xiang Yu’s office. Upon entering, he poured himself a glass of water, downed it, then sat across from Xiang Yu and said, "Brother Yu, big news."
With a calm grin, Xiang Yu asked, "What news?"
Sun Bo composed himself and finally said, "Our employee in City No. 5 reported that He Guisheng was blown to bits."
Sun Bo had thought he was delivering the freshest scoop, eager to gauge Xiang Yu’s reaction.
But to his disappointment, Xiang Yu showed no response, as if this outcome had already been anticipated.
Embarrassed, Sun Bo chuckled awkwardly and said, "Brother Yu, you didn’t send someone to handle this, did you?"
"No. It was someone else," Xiang Yu replied bluntly.
Sun Bo nodded. Initially, he thought he was the first to learn of the incident, but it turned out Xiang Yu even knew who the culprit was.
"I have an idea," Sun Bo said after a moment’s thought. "Now that He Guisheng is dead, the business world in City No. 5 is in chaos. I want to take this opportunity to expand our company into that market. Racing is big over there, so I was thinking of sending Su Yongzhen to develop the market."
As a businessman, Sun Bo’s focus was on the Yuran Group.
Xiang Yu shook his head and said, "Not yet. City No. 5 is leaderless right now. If we go in as outsiders, they’re bound to unite against us. Let them fight among themselves first. Once they’ve weakened each other, you can take people over there. It’ll be much easier then."
Though Xiang Yu wasn’t well-versed in the business world, he figured it wasn’t much different from warfare.
Sun Bo nodded in agreement, saying, "I’ll wait and see, then."
Despite Yuran Group’s size, if all factions in City No. 5 banded together, they wouldn’t be easy to handle.
Sun Bo provided an update on the company’s recent developments and the planned collaboration with the Chiheng Group.
Xiang Yu didn’t fully grasp the details, giving only a cursory listen before instructing Sun Bo to proceed.
Xiao Xuan and Tie Zhuzi returned from outside. Noticing Xiang Yu lost in thought, they refrained from disturbing him and simply sat nearby.
The three sat in silence until Tie Zhuzi finally couldn’t hold back and said, "Brother Yu, there’s something I’m unsure whether to bring up."
"Say it," Xiang Yu replied, leaning against the couch.
"Last time, in City No. 6, someone almost killed you. I think we should go find them now," Tie Zhuzi said angrily.
Ever since he started following Xiang Yu, Tie Zhuzi had lived by the principle of swift revenge and settling grudges decisively.
But regarding the incident in City No. 6, Xiang Yu had remained tight-lipped, never addressing it.
The matter had been simmering in Tie Zhuzi’s heart for a long time. He thought Xiang Yu would seek revenge once he recovered but was baffled by Xiang Yu’s complete inaction.
Xiao Xuan was equally puzzled, sitting quietly without commenting.
"Don’t bring this up again," Xiang Yu said firmly.
Tie Zhuzi was silenced, glancing at Xiao Xuan in hopes of him speaking up, but Xiao Xuan remained as expressionless as ever.
"Understood," Tie Zhuzi said, nodding reluctantly. Though he was still brimming with suppressed anger, he couldn’t argue with Xiang Yu’s decision.
The three continued sitting in silence until Xiang Yu’s phone suddenly rang.
The phone was on the table, as if Xiang Yu had been waiting for the call.
"What do you want?" Xiang Yu answered directly. freewёbnoνel.com
"Haha, I like the way you talk. What could I want? Your name’s Xiang Yu, right? I suppose you heard—I blew up He Guisheng in City No. 5. He was your rival, wasn’t he? I did you a favor," Ren Baohe said smugly.
"You’re mistaken. He wasn’t my rival," Xiang Yu replied curtly.
"All the same. Do you know why I blew him up?" Ren Baohe asked excitedly.
"It’s none of my business. Do whatever you want," Xiang Yu said impatiently.
"First off, he dared to threaten me. You know our organization doesn’t tolerate threats—we demand absolute freedom. Secondly, I find you intriguing. His existence was distracting you, so I got rid of him," Ren Baohe cackled.
Xiang Yu felt a strong urge to slap him to death, but Ren Baohe’s location remained hidden, forcing Xiang Yu to temper his anger and engage.
"None of this concerns me. I’m hanging up," Xiang Yu said.
"Don’t be so hasty, Xiang Yu. Why don’t we make a bet? I’ll plant five bombs in the mall building. If you can find and defuse all five, you pass the test, and we move to the next stage. If you fail, I’ll blow up someone close to you..."
