Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 883: Told a Whopper of a Lie
Chapter 883: Chapter 883: Told a Whopper of a Lie novelbuddy.cσ๓
Han Xiaodong was nearly driven mad with rage by Xiang Yu. He originally didn’t want to utter the words "Wolf Eye," but now it seemed there was no way around it.
People in the underworld often said that Wolf Eye had countless ties to Wolf Fang, but no one had ever confirmed it. Even so, no one dared to mess with Wolf Eye.
After all, the risks were too high. If you provoked Wolf Eye and actually brought Wolf Fang into the mix, the situation would get deadly serious.
Now Zhang Xiaodong was here because of Wolf Eye, but the other party clearly didn’t want to speak the name "Wolf Eye."
Obviously, while there was some connection between the two, they didn’t want the outside world to know.
When Xiang Yu found out the other party was affiliated with Wolf Fang, he had already guessed they came because of Zhang Dongxu.
Back when Wolf Eye approached Xiang Yu about Zhang Dongxu, Xiang Yu ignored them and even stole—no, more accurately, snatched—the weapons Zhang Dongxu had hidden right under their noses.
Xiang Yu’s actions made it crystal clear: Wolf Eye wasn’t someone he gave a damn about.
Last time, Wolf Eye had planned a major operation against Xiang Yu and his crew, but they ran into a strict crackdown from the higher-ups.
After the crackdown, every faction started laying low, terrified of getting caught in the crossfire. Wolf Eye disappeared completely, vanishing without a trace.
Wolf Eye hadn’t shown up again, and here Wolf Fang’s people were instead. It seemed Lin Chong wanted to make it known to Xiang Yu that they did indeed have connections with Wolf Fang.
Clearly, they were trying to be discreet—perhaps giving Xiang Yu a chance to understand the gravity of the situation.
"Oh, so his name’s Lin Chong? I thought it was Dog Egg or something." Xiang Yu said casually.
Han Xiaodong shot Xiang Yu a glare and said, "Did you shelter one of their people recently?"
"Shelter? What shelter? I don’t know anything about that," Xiang Yu replied with a hooligan’s smirk.
Although Han Xiaodong hadn’t been dealing with Xiang Yu for very long, he already understood his temperament—a complete rogue, it was hard to fathom how he’d become a boss.
"Hand that person over to Lin Chong now, and let’s pretend none of this ever happened," Han Xiaodong said.
"Is that Wolf Fang’s decision or Wolf Eye’s call?" Xiang Yu asked Zhang Xiaodong with a sly, amused expression.
"Both," Zhang Xiaodong replied.
"Can you even represent Wolf Fang?" Xiang Yu’s demeanor sharpened, and he looked Zhang Xiaodong straight in the eye. "I’ve had dealings with your Wolf Fang leader, Wolf King. You want me to give him a call and check?"
This statement made Han Xiaodong lose his composure instantly. His face shifted as he stared at Xiang Yu. "What did you just say? You know our Wolf King?"
Han Xiaodong was merely a liaison stationed here, with a standing so low in Wolf Fang he wasn’t even worth mentioning.
Though he was technically part of Wolf Fang, he was only on the fringes and had never seen the Wolf King. Yet, this man in front of him claimed to have connections with their leader, which made him simultaneously excited and deeply skeptical.
"You—you better not go spouting nonsense. It could bring disaster upon you," Zhang Xiaodong quickly interjected.
He initially thought being part of Wolf Fang granted him enough influence to dominate this lower-tier city, but now someone had suddenly claimed ties to their Wolf King, leaving him struggling to adjust.
The Wolf King was the leader of Wolf Fang—a figure with a status higher than even a small nation’s ruler.
The Wolf King’s movements were unpredictable, and no one knew where he actually was. Few had ever seen him.
"Back in the heat of battle, I had a brief encounter with him. He even gave me his phone number," Xiang Yu said, pulling out his phone. "Want to take a look?"
Zhang Xiaodong hesitated but ultimately waved his hand. How could just anyone casually look at the Wolf King’s phone number? Doing so might invite calamity.
To outsiders, being part of Wolf Fang might seem impressive, but within Wolf Fang, someone like Zhang Xiaodong was no more significant than a speck of dust.
"What was that you said earlier—Lin Chong has ties to your group?" Xiang Yu asked, as if suddenly recalling something.
At that moment, Zhang Xiaodong broke into a cold sweat. If Xiang Yu truly had a way to contact the Wolf King, one word from the Wolf King could mean Zhang Xiaodong’s end.
Now he regretted coming here today. He had assumed that just the Wolf Fang name alone would scare Xiang Yu senseless, but the man was so composed—and apparently acquainted with the Wolf King.
While Xiang Yu remained unshaken, Zhang Xiaodong felt like he was about to drop dead from fear.
"Earlier I was only joking. Leopard Head Lin Chong from *Water Margin* is one of my most admired characters. I read *Water Margin* three times in a row back then—it was incredible!" Zhang Xiaodong said with a forced smile, trying to appear as natural as possible.
But his sweat-covered face betrayed his unease.
"Oh, so you’re into *Water Margin* too," Xiang Yu chimed in.
With *Water Margin* as the topic, the two started rambling on. When it came to BS-ing, Xiang Yu was leagues ahead, chatting so much that Han Xiaodong was left stunned.
"If there’s anything you don’t get, just ask me," Xiang Yu finally summed up.
Han Xiaodong shook his head helplessly and said, "No, I’m good. It’s getting late; I’ll take my leave now."
He stood up and headed for the door.
"Wait, don’t forget to settle the bill," Xiang Yu called after him.
Han Xiaodong simply nodded from behind as he hurried out the door. He needed to report this to the higher-ups immediately.
If Xiang Yu truly had ties to the Wolf King, Han Xiaodong would be deemed a hero, and Xiang Yu would earn special care from Wolf Fang.
As soon as the other party left, Xiang Yu let out a deep breath.
"Big Bro, do you actually know this Wolf King? Is he really that powerful?" Tie Zhuzi asked.
To him, Xiang Yu was unbeatable—any talk of Wolf King or Dog King was nonsense.
"They’re not just powerful—they’re influential. A single word from them could mean our demise," Xiang Yu said seriously.
Now he had told a lie to protect Zhang Dongxu for the time being, but it also planted a dangerous seed for himself.
He knew this lie would eventually be exposed. When Wolf Fang’s higher-ups learned the truth, who knew what might happen?
Thankfully, the Wolf King was elusive, and even members of Wolf Fang didn’t know his whereabouts. Otherwise, it wouldn’t take long for his lie to unravel.
"That kid Zhang Dongxu truly lives up to his reputation," Tie Zhuzi remarked, noticing Xiang Yu’s troubled expression.
Zhang Dongxu had earned a bad reputation in the underworld; people called him ’the Black Cat of Bad Luck.’ Last time, Xiang Yu barely escaped death, and now Zhang Dongxu had dragged Wolf Fang into the picture, making the situation even messier.
"Don’t ever say that again. He’s our brother, and no matter what happens, I’ll protect him," Xiang Yu said, looking at Tie Zhuzi.
Tie Zhuzi realized his mistake and nodded.
Zhang Dongxu was already feeling guilt-ridden. If someone added fuel by calling him the Black Cat of Bad Luck, Xiang Yu worried he might leave for good.
Outside, Wolf Eye’s people were still lurking, waiting for the chance to take him out. Xiang Yu certainly wouldn’t let him go. To Xiang Yu, neither Wolf Eye nor Wolf Fang would ever be allowed to mess with his brothers under any circumstance...
