Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 887: All the Credit Goes to You
Chapter 887: Chapter 887: All the Credit Goes to You
"What did your grandfather do for a living?" Xiang Yu asked.
"That’s none of your business. Anyway, I have equipment that can detect this stuff." Gao Zhitao said smugly.
"Alright, let’s go get it from your place." Xiang Yu said, pulling Gao Zhitao along as they left.
If such equipment really existed, it would save Xiang Yu the trouble of painstakingly searching.
"What about this thing?" Gao Zhitao looked at the bomb in his arms and asked.
"Bring it along." Without hesitation, Xiang Yu picked up the larger bomb and headed outside.
Xiang Yu had entered through a window earlier, but leaving was much simpler. The two opened the door from the inside and walked out openly.
They placed the bombs in Gao Zhitao’s car and drove toward his house.
Meanwhile, in a dark corner some distance away, a shadowy figure suddenly appeared. Seeing Xiang Yu and Gao Zhitao leave, he let out a cold snort and muttered, "Xiang Yu, Xiang Yu, just two bombs and you’re giving up, huh? Looks like I overestimated you."
This person was Ren Baohe. After leaving the building, he hadn’t rushed away but had hidden nearby to observe Xiang Yu’s actions.
To his surprise, Xiang Yu only searched for two bombs and then gave up. It seemed tomorrow would bring quite the spectacle.
Ren Baohe glanced at the building and chuckled before leaving. He was waiting for the moment it would burst into flames tomorrow, eager to prove to his ’colleagues’ that his news-making skills were the most explosive.
As for Gao Zhitao, he drove toward his house with Xiang Yu in the passenger seat. He chatted incessantly during the ride, while Xiang Yu ignored him entirely.
They arrived at an estate filled with villas. The area was well-maintained, almost comparable to Wolong Villa.
Xiang Yu was somewhat familiar with the place, known for housing city officials and even higher-ranking figures.
Given Gao Zhitao lived here, it was clear that his background wasn’t ordinary.
"When you meet my grandfather later, don’t say a word. Just stick close to me," Gao Zhitao said mysteriously.
Xiang Yu didn’t move.
Seeing Xiang Yu standing stiffly, Gao Zhitao thought he’d been awed by the opulent villas. He turned and walked inside.
Xiang Yu followed him. As they entered the villa, Xiang Yu could distinctly feel multiple pairs of eyes watching him.
A well-dressed man in a fitted suit approached and blocked Xiang Yu’s path. The man carried himself with an air of professionalism and seriousness, a clear indication of his background in the military.
"Excuse me," the man said as he began to search Xiang Yu.
Xiang Yu didn’t resist, handing over his dagger directly. When the dagger was revealed, the man’s vigilance visibly increased.
"Hurry up. He’s my friend, we’ve got important business to attend to. Stop wasting time here," Gao Zhitao exclaimed, pulling Xiang Yu inside.
Although the area seemed devoid of people, Xiang Yu could sense he was already being locked onto by several individuals.
He couldn’t help but feel a tinge of surprise; these people had undergone professional training. For them to be stationed here meant whoever was inside was no ordinary person—likely a high-ranking military figure.
Gao Zhitao dragged Xiang Yu into the villa and rushed upstairs.
"Stop right there." A commanding, slightly aged voice rang out.
Gao Zhitao froze, let out an awkward laugh, and ran back downstairs.
"Grandpa, you’re still here? I didn’t even notice earlier. It’s so late—why haven’t you gone to sleep yet?" Gao Zhitao said respectfully.
"Who’s this person you’ve brought this time?" The elderly man glanced at Xiang Yu, whose steady gaze met his without flinching.
Despite his white hair, the old man was physically fit, his robust frame resembling that of a young man.
"Hello," Xiang Yu said respectfully.
He could tell the elderly man was military as well, and Xiang Yu instinctively admired soldiers from the bottom of his heart.
The elderly man stood up when he saw Xiang Yu, sweeping his eyes over him. "You’ve served in the military?"
Without hesitation, Xiang Yu nodded. "I’m retired now."
"You’re in excellent physical condition. Why did you retire?" the old man asked.
"For many reasons," Xiang Yu replied vaguely.
Seeing Xiang Yu unwilling to elaborate, the old man didn’t press further. He turned to Gao Zhitao and said, "Why haven’t you been showing up at work lately? I’ve heard complaints from your bureau chief. You’re a deputy director now—you can’t keep behaving like this."
The elder’s sharp eyes caught the wounds on Gao Zhitao’s arm, but he merely frowned slightly, seemingly accustomed to his grandson’s frequent injuries.
"I got it, Grandpa. I’m working on a big case now. When I crack this one, you’ll see what I’m capable of!" Gao Zhitao chuckled. freewebnoveℓ.com
"Hmph, as long as you don’t cause trouble, that’s enough for me," the elder said, leaving Gao Zhitao behind as he returned to his room. It seemed he’d been waiting up for Gao Zhitao specifically tonight.
Once the elder had retired to his room, Gao Zhitao called Xiang Yu to follow him upstairs. Before a closed room, Gao Zhitao grinned mysteriously. "Brother, I want to discuss something with you."
"Speak," Xiang Yu replied curtly.
"When we find the bomb, can you let me handle this case?" Gao Zhitao asked, his face slightly flushed.
As a deputy director, everyone knew Gao Zhitao had only attained the position due to his family connections.
In the bureau, while people respected him outwardly, they didn’t take him seriously in private. Many cases weren’t even reported to him, as his involvement was seen as superfluous.
Frustrated, Gao Zhitao eventually settled into the role assigned to him. He spent his days indulging in his playboy lifestyle.
But today, he seemed to have caught hold of an opportunity. If he could solve this bombing case, he’d be able to hold his head high—not just in the bureau, but in his family as well.
The old man didn’t criticize him openly, but it was clear his grandson’s lack of achievement weighed on him.
"I’m afraid you can’t handle this case," Xiang Yu explained. He understood Gao Zhitao’s ambitions but couldn’t let him take the risk.
Ren Baohe was a member of the Falcon Organization. This group was composed of total lunatics, psychologically disturbed individuals.
If Gao Zhitao crossed them, it would undoubtedly provoke relentless retaliation. And as a police officer, his identity alone would enrage Ren Baohe.
"Why not?" Gao Zhitao asked with rare seriousness.
Xiang Yu struggled to explain. Gao Zhitao, despite being a privileged offspring, wouldn’t necessarily know about the Falcon Organization.
Looking at Gao Zhitao’s earnest expression turning into disappointment, Xiang Yu felt a pang of sympathy and finally relented. "You can take on the case, but you must promise to keep a low profile and follow my every instruction."
Hearing this, Gao Zhitao brightened. If he could crack this case, he’d finally have something to boast about and no longer need to lower his head at the bureau...
