Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 895 Gao Zhitao’s Life or Death Unknown
Chapter 895: Chapter 895 Gao Zhitao’s Life or Death Unknown
When there were still ten minutes until midnight, the surrounding police officers began to grow uneasy, chattering about all kinds of things.
However, there were still many people patiently waiting, many of whom were friends of Gao Zhitao.
Usually, Gao Zhitao was a modest and approachable man at work. Though he could be a bit nonchalant, he never looked down on others.
As the deputy director, he often played and socialized with them, so he had quite a few close friends at the station.
Gao Mantang started to worry when his grandson still hadn’t come out, but he remained standing there, unmoving.
Gao Mantang was a very stubborn man. When he decided to stand there and not go inside, he would absolutely stick to his decision.
Even if Gao Zhitao were to die inside, he would still remain standing here.
Director Huang noticed that it was almost midnight and managed to keep his composure, leaning against the police car while quietly smoking a cigarette.
Just as everyone was waiting anxiously, a figure suddenly rushed out from inside.
The man was of medium height, his face covered in soot, and he was carrying a heavy metal contraption in his arms. It was none other than Gao Zhitao.
"Hurry! Who knows about bombs? Get over here now!" Gao Zhitao shouted loudly as soon as he stepped outside.
Gao Mantang saw his grandson finally emerge and quickly stepped forward.
However, when he saw what Gao Zhitao was carrying, his expression instantly changed. Gao Mantang was an experienced veteran on the battlefield; he had seen all kinds of devices. Upon recognizing this particular one, he instantly knew it was the Su B350—a bomb with immense destructive power.
"Guards! Quickly defuse the bomb!" Gao Mantang shouted urgently.
Immediately, the soldiers surrounding them moved in to shield Gao Mantang and Gao Zhitao.
Gao Zhitao knew that the experts near his grandfather could get the bomb disarmed, so the rest would be fine once it was removed.
"There’s more inside. You guys, come with me now!" After saying this, Gao Zhitao immediately stepped forward and ran back inside.
Though time was running out, it was a mission entrusted to him by Xiang Yu—he had to complete it. A surge of respect for Xiang Yu unexpectedly welled up in him.
Gao Mantang wanted to stop him but, seeing his grandson’s resolute determination, couldn’t help but smile from behind.
It seemed his grandson had truly grown up—not just a sheltered child under his wing anymore.
A few of the soldiers heard Gao Zhitao’s orders and quickly followed him inside. They were regular guards for Gao Mantang and were very familiar with Gao Zhitao. They often played and joked around with him during their downtime.
Standing outside, Director Huang appeared dumbfounded. What was going on? Were there really bombs inside? Judging by the time left, it seemed like only a few minutes remained.
If they delayed any longer, everything would likely explode.
Meanwhile, a few demolition experts outside were carefully disarming the bomb.
"Move back! The bomb’s power is tremendous—we don’t have a guarantee of success," one of the soldiers said sternly.
"Commander, please step back as well," the soldier said while looking at Gao Mantang. freeweɓnøvel.com
Gao Mantang merely shook his head with a grin. "I will stand right here. Don’t worry about me—just focus on defusing the bomb."
The soldier wanted to say more, but knowing the old general’s temperament, he hurriedly knelt down and began working on the bomb.
Meanwhile, inside, Gao Zhitao led a group of men into the basement, each carrying out a bomb one by one.
"Zhitao, you should leave first," one of the guards said anxiously as he looked at Gao Zhitao.
"Don’t waste time! Get it out quickly!" Gao Zhitao yelled as he handed a bomb to the man.
The man saw that time was running out and hurriedly carried the bomb out towards the exit.
When only the last bomb was left, Gao Zhitao picked it up and prepared to head outside. It was the smallest of the bombs, so he didn’t pay much attention to it.
Just as he was about to head up, his gaze unintentionally fell on the timer display. What he saw almost made him faint.
There were still about five minutes left until midnight, but the timer showed only five seconds remaining.
Gao Zhitao thought he might have seen wrong. He looked closer—no, it was indeed five seconds.
He hesitated for one second, then ultimately flung the bomb away and sprinted towards the exit as fast as he could.
Before he could make it out, the small bomb exploded with a thunderous "BOOM."
Outside, the others were still disarming bombs when they heard the explosion. All of them instinctively turned towards the direction of the blast.
"Deputy Director Gao hasn’t come out yet!" someone blurted out, triggering a wave of panic among the crowd.
No one was more shaken than Gao Mantang, whose body involuntarily trembled despite remaining firmly planted in place.
Behind him, Kong Shenghui saw this unfolding and immediately organized personnel to charge inside.
The demolition experts kept working undistracted, focusing all their attention on defusing the bombs in front of them.
With limited time left, the situation allowed no room for error—especially with their commander standing right there, watching.
Director Huang had long retreated to a safer distance. He wasn’t willing to risk his life for anyone, not even the commander, and certainly wasn’t about to approach. Even though an explosion had already occurred inside, he remained adamant that his own survival was the top priority.
Kong Shenghui led his team straight into the building. They immediately encountered a corner on the first floor, already filled with dust and debris.
Before stepping further in, they spotted Gao Zhitao lying on the ground, unconscious.
"Quickly! Get him out of here!" Kong Shenghui commanded, uncertain if there were other bombs still hidden inside. He ordered them to carry Gao Zhitao out first.
"Call an ambulance!" Kong Shenghui shouted after emerging from the building.
By now, Gao Zhitao had passed out, and no one knew whether he would live or die.
Gao Mantang stood at a distance, watching his grandson quietly. His subordinates were still disarming the bomb, but no matter what happened, he wouldn’t leave his position.
The guards beside him felt a surge of warmth seeing their commander sharing their risks, further solidifying their deep respect for him.
An ambulance had been waiting nearby. Gao Zhitao was placed inside, and with the sirens blaring, it sped away into the distance.
After ensuring Gao Zhitao was loaded onto the vehicle, Kong Shenghui walked back to stand beside Gao Mantang.
"Old Commander, don’t worry. Zhitao will be fine," Kong Shenghui reassured him.
Gao Mantang remained standing, his face devoid of emotion. No one could tell what he was thinking.
Elsewhere, Director Huang lingered in the distance, not daring to approach. Instead, he directed police officers to start investigating the building.
The guards surrounding Gao Mantang were top experts with prior experience with such bombs. With approximately one minute remaining, the demolition team finally succeeded in defusing the remaining bombs.
Once Gao Mantang saw that the danger had been resolved, he strode decisively into the building without a word.
The guards quickly surrounded him, prepared to protect him at any moment should new threats arise.
Inside the building, Gao Mantang headed straight for Director Huang, who was currently busy giving orders.
"Commander Gao, is there something you need?" Director Huang said, forcing an awkward smile...
