Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 929: Soldiers Rush into the Police Station
Chapter 929: Chapter 929: Soldiers Rush into the Police Station
After Gao Mantang walked out of the hospital ward, he headed straight to the back door. About ten minutes later, five large trucks drove directly to the location.
Standing on the trucks were fully armed soldiers, one after another.
The vehicles came to a stop, and a man who had the typical appearance of a disciplined soldier ran over, stopping in front of Gao Mantang. After a crisp salute, he reported, "Commander, Battalion Commander Zhang Dacheng from the Third Battalion reporting for duty!"
"I have an urgent mission for you. Go to the Municipal Regulatory Sub-Bureau and bring me their Bureau Chief, Huang Yi. I’ll be waiting for your good news at military headquarters," Gao Mantang said loudly, standing upright with an authoritative air.
Zhang Dacheng was momentarily stunned. He hadn’t expected his mission to involve going to the police bureau to arrest someone.
The military and police departments belonged to different systems. Occasionally, there would be minor friction between the two, and now being asked to apprehend someone from there would undoubtedly complicate matters. But orders were orders—orders from superiors that they were obligated to follow without question.
"Yes, sir." After a brief moment of hesitation, Zhang Dacheng ultimately obeyed his superior’s command.
Having spent significant time in the military, Zhang Dacheng understood the personality of Gao Mantang.
Gao Mantang commanded immense respect within the military. Perhaps such a manner didn’t sit well in the city, but in the military, everyone appreciated his decisive and no-nonsense style.
After receiving his orders, Zhang Dacheng immediately boarded the truck, leading his subordinates to the Municipal Regulatory Sub-Bureau.
The convoy inevitably drew a lot of attention from the citizens along the way. Although this was a military base area, it was rare to see so many soldiers mobilized at once in the city.
The sight of these five trucks filled with fully armed personnel caused quite a stir, prompting passersby to crane their necks in curiosity.
After assigning the mission to the Third Battalion, Gao Mantang went back to make arrangements at the hospital and then called his driver to return to the military headquarters.
Meanwhile, Zhang Dacheng and his troops arrived directly at the Sub-Bureau, causing an immediate commotion upon arrival.
Some policemen were initially curious, but soon their expressions turned serious. What on earth was going on? Could it really be that they intended to launch an attack on the Public Security Bureau?
At that moment, Huang Yi was in his office, pondering matters. Truth be told, he regretted involving Wang Hu and his group. After all, they were just petty thugs. If things went south and they got caught, they were likely to expose him.
But it was already too late for regrets. He pulled a pistol out from a drawer, a cold gleam flashing in his eyes.
Once this task was completed, he planned to personally send those four troublemakers to the next world. After all, they were no upstanding citizens anyway.
At that instant, the Sub-Bureau premises were suddenly intruded upon by five large trucks that came to a halt as squads of soldiers jumped down from them.
These were all well-trained soldiers. After disembarking, they promptly formed ranks with utmost precision.
Walking in bold strides, Zhang Dacheng entered the building, heading straight for the first-floor lobby. Approaching a female staffer, he asked, "Which floor is your Bureau Chief on?"
The female staffer was terrified, completely stunned by the scene. It felt like something straight out of a TV drama.
"W-who are you people? What are you doing here?" she stammered nervously.
"That’s not something you need to know. I’m only asking once: which floor is your Bureau Chief on?" Zhang Dacheng demanded sternly.
The staffer, thrown into confusion, naturally dared not utter a misstep. By now, every individual in the office building had started filtering outside, one by one.
When they saw a group of soldiers, they were initially taken aback, but their expressions quickly shifted to seriousness.
Hearing that these soldiers were here seeking their Bureau Chief, the male officers in particular couldn’t remain calm. They gathered together and approached Zhang Dacheng.
"What business do you have with our Bureau Chief? Do you even realize where you are? This is the Public Security Bureau, not a place soldiers like you can just waltz into," one officer remarked.
In truth, many of these officers had served in the military before, only to later become police officers after returning to civilian life. In their eyes, these soldiers were beneath them.
At least they had formal jobs here at the Bureau, while most soldiers, after being discharged, were just regular farmers.
"Exactly! Do you soldiers even have a shred of respect? This is our workplace—you can’t just barge in here whenever you like."
"A bunch of useless grunts."
"Get out of here right now!"
As more police officers gathered, their confidence grew. Especially the male ones, who lined up in the lobby, creating a tense standoff with the soldiers.
Undeterred, Zhang Dacheng stood sternly, his expression unwavering as he addressed the officers in front of him. "We need to see your Bureau Chief. Step aside immediately."
The police officers sneered in response, mocking the soldiers for their rigidity behind their scornful smiles.
"We’re not moving. What are you going to do about it? Let me remind you—this isn’t the military. This is the Public Security Bureau; it’s not your turf," one officer retorted.
With their numbers now comparable to the soldiers’, and the police having a clear home-ground advantage, they weren’t the least bit intimidated.
"Step aside. We’re on a mission. If it’s delayed, you’ll bear the consequences," Zhang Dacheng warned strictly.
"Oh really? You’re on a mission, not us. Why should we bear the responsibility?" another officer scoffed.
Without breaking stride, Zhang Dacheng immediately drew his pistol and shouted, "Third Battalion, prepare for action!"
At his command, the soldiers behind him moved swiftly, scattering into position. They pulled out their rifles, disengaging the safeties and pointing them at the surrounding officers.
The sight of the armed soldiers froze the police in their tracks, silencing them in an instant.
Scenes like this were unheard of in a hundred years—they had no idea how to react.
At this moment, a middle-aged man stepped out. freёnovelkiss.com
"What’s going on here?" The man carried a teacup in his hand, exuding an air of self-importance.
"Deputy Director He, I’m not sure what’s happening. These soldiers barged in out of nowhere and demanded to see Director Huang," one officer quickly explained, eager to curry favor with the deputy director.
Deputy Director He surveyed the scene, clearly intrigued by the sheer number of soldiers present. Stepping forward, he confronted Zhang Dacheng, saying, "Comrade, what exactly is going on here?"
"We need to see your Bureau Chief. You have three minutes. If we’re not granted access, we’ll force our way in," Zhang Dacheng declared, stepping back two steps and checking his watch to start counting down.
Deputy Director He was utterly baffled. Seeing how this soldier ignored him completely, his face darkened with displeasure. Clearing his throat, he adopted a composed tone as he said, "I am good friends with your Colonel He. We often have tea together. Is he here by chance today?"
Clearly, Deputy Director He was attempting to leverage his connections with Colonel He to gain some leverage or leniency.
But Zhang Dacheng remained unmoved, coldly glancing at his watch. "Thirty seconds left," he said indifferently.
Deputy Director He felt increasingly awkward. If even Colonel He couldn’t rein in this soldier, it only meant the soldiers’ authority came from an even higher source...
