Chapter 960: Chapter 960: Someone is Watching Them

Gao Zhitao saw all his subordinates rushing over and knew the situation below had been dealt with. Right now, his biggest concern was Xiang Yu’s safety.

Scanning his surroundings and not seeing Xiang Yu’s figure, he asked, "Where did Xiang Yu go?"

One of the squad leaders quickly described the earlier events. Hearing that Xiang Yu was unharmed, Gao Zhitao finally let out a sigh of relief.

As for the gruesome aftermath below, he wasn’t too concerned. After all, how bad could it be? It was just a minor skirmish.

A few police officers helped Gao Zhitao down to the lower level. As they walked down the hallway, a thick scent of blood filled his nostrils, but he paid it no mind.

"Deputy Chief Gao, you’d better mentally prepare yourself. We haven’t finished cleaning up down here," one of the squad leaders said.

"You’re underestimating me." Gao Zhitao chuckled calmly.

Though Gao Zhitao rarely participated in missions, he’d seen plenty of movies. The gory scenes in films didn’t faze him—in fact, when others were retching at the sight, he could eat while watching without issue.

"You don’t understand. I’ve been through training. I remember back when I—" Before Gao Zhitao could finish speaking, he reached the lower level and froze. The sight before him was unbearable, and he immediately doubled over, vomiting.

One could say that Gao Zhitao was heaving uncontrollably. Red and white mixed together, mangled limbs—were these really human corpses?

It seemed Gao Zhitao had overestimated his own tolerance. Confronted with this scene today, he found it impossible to endure.

The officers, seeing their chief in such a state, quickly helped him along.

Gao Zhitao said nothing now, crouching over and retching non-stop.

"Who... who did all this? Ugh..." Gao Zhitao steadied himself enough to ask.

The squad leader gave an awkward smile and replied, "It was the two agents from National Security. They killed everyone here."

Gao Zhitao was at a loss for words. So, Xiang Yu and his partner were this ruthless? He hadn’t noticed this about them before.

After vomiting for quite a while outside, Gao Zhitao finally regained his composure and asked someone to call Xiang Yu on the phone.

"Where are you?" Gao Zhitao asked. He had no idea about the situation around him and wanted to ask about Xiang Yu’s next moves.

"For now, I’ll leave this area to you. I still have some business to handle. Later, just have them take you to the hospital," Xiang Yu said before hanging up.

Though they had eliminated all members of the Falcon Organization, Xiang Yu still felt uneasy. He decided to patrol the train station one more time.

When he entered the waiting hall, Xiao Xuan was standing there with a bag in hand, his clothes torn in a few places, scratches visible on his face.

"Bro, are you all right?" Xiao Xuan walked over, immediately noticing the wounds on Xiang Yu’s arm.

"Just surface wounds. What about you?" Xiang Yu asked, looking at him.

Xiao Xuan shrugged nonchalantly and said, "I just got scratched when I jumped from the train earlier, nothing serious."

Xiang Yu nodded and glanced at the items in Xiao Xuan’s hands. These must be the bombs.

Without saying a word, Xiang Yu started walking ahead, with Tie Zhuzi and Xiao Xuan following behind.

Just as Xiang Yu stepped into the waiting hall, he suddenly felt an intense, fleeting sense of being watched.

This was a skill honed from years on the battlefield—a sensation he couldn’t quite explain, but one he trusted deeply.

Xiao Xuan and Tie Zhuzi noticed the change in Xiang Yu’s expression. "Bro, what’s wrong?" Xiao Xuan asked.

"Don’t talk. Keep walking forward. Someone is watching us," Xiang Yu said softly.

Hearing this, Tie Zhuzi and Xiao Xuan immediately perked up. Xiao Xuan, trained as a sniper, and Tie Zhuzi, with a nose sharper than any dog’s, hadn’t sensed the surveillance themselves—proof of how formidable the observer must be.

"You two stay here and don’t move." Xiang Yu instructed before moving forward.

Xiao Xuan and Tie Zhuzi understood Xiang Yu’s intentions and quickly sat down where they were.

Tie Zhuzi quietly maneuvered to a corner, working his way stealthily to the rear. He hid and observed the surroundings but found no abnormalities—it was eerily calm.

Could it be a false alarm? Was it the overwhelming events of the day playing tricks on him?

Rarely did Xiang Yu question his instincts, but even with a fleeting sensation, he treated it seriously—lives were at stake, after all.

He stood silently, poised like a predator waiting for its prey to emerge.

Meanwhile, Tie Zhuzi and Xiao Xuan sat idly nearby.

"Damn, tonight’s been insane—better than sleeping with two women," Tie Zhuzi muttered to himself.

Xiao Xuan, meanwhile, kept a vigilant eye on their surroundings. If Xiang Yu said they were being watched, then it couldn’t be wrong.

"Hey, why aren’t you saying anything? Are you scared stiff?" Tie Zhuzi, bored, tried to strike up a conversation with Xiao Xuan, but Xiao Xuan ignored him completely.

When Tie Zhuzi saw Xiao Xuan’s lack of interest, he lay down and soon started snoring.

Xiao Xuan could only shake his head in exasperation. Tie Zhuzi was fortunate to follow someone like Xiang Yu. With his careless personality, had he been with anyone else, he would’ve been killed countless times by now.

At that moment, plainclothes officers began to arrive. For them, tonight was a career-defining experience they wouldn’t soon forget.

Now that the danger had passed, they began laughing and joking as they wrapped up their tasks. They had cleaned up the aftermath and now planned to patrol once more before interrogating the detainees.

This whole operation had been conducted in secrecy. If handled publicly, it would’ve been a sensation. The media exposure could’ve thrust their precinct into the limelight, and officers might’ve even scored TV appearances.

They couldn’t understand why the National Security agent insisted on keeping things low-key, but they assumed he had his reasons and didn’t overthink it.

"Hey, old man, why are you still up so late?" suddenly one of the officers called out.

Everyone turned toward the voice, spotting an elderly man in uniform standing in one of the rooms.

Judging by the uniform, he appeared to be a train station worker, but whether he was security or some other staff member was unclear.

The old man simply nodded, smiling without speaking or moving, maintaining his position.

The officers didn’t bother him further and moved on to check other areas.

Xiao Xuan glanced at the old man one last time. He seemed perfectly normal—just a night-shift worker at the train station, perhaps.

Once the officers finished their inspection, they left, still chatting and laughing. They had removed the bodies from the building, wiped away shell casings, and cleaned up all evidence of the firefight. Being police officers, they were well-versed in such matters...
