Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)-Chapter 571: Jealous of your future sister in law
Chapter 571: Jealous of your future sister in law
They immediately raised their hands, palms outward in a surrendering gesture, their expressions anxious but uncertain.
But in an instant, everything changed. The air shifted with an unnatural crackle. Two of the scientists’ forms rippled, their bodies swelling and contorting in ways that defied normal anatomy.
One’s human features twisted, jaws elongating into a jagged maw while claws extended from his fingertips, his eyes burning with a feral, unnatural glow. The other’s skin erupted into a thick, mutated carapace, jagged edges crisscrossing its body as it snarled.
The remaining three scientists hesitated and then, with a violent surge of energy, they also activated their awakened powers. One’s voice boomed as he summoned crackling electrical arcs that surged around him, while another’s hands shimmered with shimmering, dark energy, ready to strike.
Han Xin’s eyes sharpened, instinct igniting deeply within him. His pulse quickened. Beside him, Xiang Yu’s face hardened, a surge of energy rippling into his fingertips. They both coiled with gathered power, preparing for the oncoming attack.
Without hesitation, Han Xin unleashed a wave of silenced shot energy, targeting the mutated creature. Xiang Yu followed suit, summoning a swirling burst of elemental force. The battlefield erupted into chaos—flesh and metal clashing as they fought to contain the terrifying mutants and volatile energy blasts.
Red alarms pulsed in the darkness, casting eerie shadows against the cracked walls. The scent of burning metal and stale blood hung in the air.
In the chaos Xiang Yu barely had time to react as his back was slammed against the cold bars of the containment cage by an unseen force.
The high-level zombie inside snarled, lunging forward with rotten teeth bared, inches from tearing into his flesh. Time slowed. He could see the decayed muscles twitching in its grotesque face, the gaping hunger in its soulless eyes.
Then there was an explosion. The zombie’s head burst into a mist of blackened gore, its body twitching before collapsing. Han Xin stood near, his fingers curled in invisible force.
Xiang Yu slid down the bars, breath ragged. His pulse drummed in his ears as Han Xin reached for him.
"I am fine go," Xiang Yu murmured, pushing himself up. His gaze flickered over Han Xin’s sharp features, his usual warmth replaced by something lethal. Han Xin turned away, eyes settling on the last scientist.
The mutated scientist let out a guttural snarl, forming a grotesque fusion of sinew and nightmare. Its elongated limbs twitched unnaturally, veins pulsing with unstable energy from the serums he had injected into his bloodstream. Half-human, half-abomination. He launched forward like a phantom, an invisible force wrapping around the creature’s twisted body. The monster shrieked, its limbs thrashing as Han Xin lifted it high above the wreckage, suspending it in midair. His expression was devoid of hesitation, cold and merciless. Then—he ripped.
The creature split apart, its limbs wrenched in opposite directions, flesh and bone separating in gruesome symmetry. Blood misted the air like rainfall, soaking into the walls of the research centre.
Xiang Yu exhaled sharply, watching Han Xin’s steady form as he turned back. Even under the flashing red light, his eyes gleamed with predatory focus.
He strode over to him and in an instant, the coldness lingering in Han Xin’s eyes melted away. The transformation was like switching a light on. His posture softened, and warmth radiated from him. He slid a hand over Xiang Yu’s back, his voice low and filled with concern. "Does your waist and that place hurt?"
Xiang Yu grinned, lifting a hand to pat Han Xin’s cheek. "It doesn’t hurt. Just next time, be a little more aggressive. I have high endurance."
For a brief moment, Han Xin froze, his surprise palpable. The playful confidence in Xiang Yu’s voice sent a jolt through him, catching him off guard.
While Han Xin was still processing Xiang Yu’s words, Xiang Yu walked away, his focus shifting to a researcher trying to crawl away, leaving streaks of crimson on the floor. With a swift motion, Xiang Yu stepped down hard on the man’s head. The researcher grimaced, pain etched across his face.
"You— you wait."
Xiang Yu pressed his boot firmly onto the man’s head, forcing it down into the cold floor. The scientist grimaced, a deep wince twisting his face as pain radiated through him.
"Wait until the Overseer hears about this! I’m sure she... she is sending people now!" The man’s voice trembled, his threat laced with fear.
Xiang Yu chuckled, a dark, chilling sound. His face carried an air of villainy, a glint in his eyes that promised nothing good. "Why is everyone threatening me with the Overseer? It’s like I am listening to a broken record at this point," he joked lightly.
Han Xin shook his head, a tsk escaping his lips. "They’re borrowing her power, thinking it will intimidate you and save them," he replied, a frown creasing his brow.
Xiang Yu’s laughter faded, replaced by a sudden fierceness. He pressed harder against the man’s head, making the scientist groan in pain. "Where is Little Bai?" he demanded.
Confusion flickered across the man’s face. Blood and saliva mixed as he spat, struggling to maintain some semblance of defiance. "Who?"
"Little Bai," Xiang Yu clarified, his voice smooth yet authoritative. "Round face, cherry blossom eyes, very adorable. Anyone that matches that description?"
Han Xin suddenly glared at his man, jealousy simmering within him. The description twisted something inside, reminding him of the possessiveness he felt. Xiang Yu had told him that this person wasn’t the same as him. Yet, hearing Xiang Yu talk about Little Bai made his gut turn with envy.
Noticing Han Xin’s expression, Xiang Yu teased, "Ah, babe, no need to be jealous of your future sister-in-law."
Han Xin blinked in confusion. He only had one family member and that was Han Zhan. They were cousins but in truth, they were more like brothers than cousins.
But could Xiang Yu really be suggesting he wanted to set his cousin up with this so called Little Bai? This was not an arranged marriage so how could Han Zhan agree.
