Vile Rabbit-Chapter 124: the wise one’s sermon
The plant calmly gazed back into his eyes; she could tell that if it weren't for him being somewhat unsure about the faint threat he sensed from her, he would have attacked her mercilessly the moment she appeared.
"I am here on behalf of my great one, the Hanging Tree, to propose an alliance with you, oh Pathfinder," she answered.
Apexion's eyes shone with countless thoughts and ideas. Great one, Hanging Tree? An alliance? No, that will never happen. In his mind, he didn't need an alliance with anyone; what he needed were pawns to do his bidding when he wanted and how he wanted. But,
"Tell me, who is the Hanging Tree? Is he worthy of being a partner of a creature such as me? And if he is worthy, what can he offer me in exchange for my alliance?" he questioned in a calm tone.
"The Hanging Tree is a being who stands at the pinnacle of the 8th tier. An almost Unrivaled entity at his tier. He is an ancient being who has survived the War of the End. He is the embodiment of all things plant."
She paused and gazed at him with a look that asked if this was worthy enough before continuing,
"As for what he can offer? He can offer knowledge and access. Knowledge and secrets that only a creature who survived the Primordial War of the End would know…
access that only creatures at his level would have, such as access to the Inner universe, a region far more ancient and vibrant than this young and underdeveloped region where we are currently located, and access to the Seal Doom Realm. He will also grant you Coordinates for a million realms and protection until you reach his level… he does not doubt that you will attain and uncover these secrets on your own, but it would take time, a long, long time."
Hearing her answer, his eyes flashed with contemplation, then he asked,
"And what does he want in return?"
"He requests your protection. He requests that you protect the innate ones during the ultimate war that will explode in the near future," she answered.
Apexion's eyes flickered. Ultimate war. Innate ones. And,
"Tell me about the War of the End and ultimate war," he said.
"The ultimate war is the continuation of the Primordial War of the End… that's all I can tell you for now," she replied.
Countless ideas flashed through his mind, and a second later,
"I agree!"
he answered, but did he really agree? Only he knew.
The plant's eyes shone with delight, after which an ethereal wooden pendant, with the carving of an otherworldly upside down tree at its center, appeared in her right palm. She offered it to him,
"Here, this is a device that you can use to communicate with the great one."
He gazed at it intensely, scanning and analyzing it. After confirming that it was safe, he reached out to take it, but just to be sure, [barrier!] a barrier materialized around the pendant, and then he made contact with it.
After he took it, the plant continued,
"Only use it after you exit this forbidden echo." After which she did something unexpected,
pash!
She simultaneously extinguished her will, collapsed her core, and erased her body.
Suicide.
Apexion frowned for a second as he glanced at the spot where she had been standing before he vanished toward the center of the kingdom.
Her killing herself made sense after all; only one of them could make it into the inner kingdom.
Soon he arrived at the area where the barrier was, only to discover that it was no longer there. He gazed around for a second before continuing forward.
…
While traveling the busy streets and alleys, he noticed that many creatures were gathering toward the center. They talked about how happy they were to be among the few chosen ones who were about to receive the wise one's teachings.
Soon he arrived at the center of the kingdom.
There he saw hundreds of thousands of creatures sitting cross-legged in a circle on the ground around a single six-meter-wide wooden cottage that glowed faintly.
At the entrance of this cottage sat an elder clad in white. His figure was aura-less, akin to an unawakened; his face was wrinkled, a sign of his elderism, his eyes dark and deep like a bottomless well that was not filled with water but endless wisdom, and his white hair flowed down his back
to his knees like water.
Unfathomable.
Was the word that came to Apexion's mind as he gazed at the figure. Beyond the ordinariness, he could sense something incomprehensible. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Extraordinary.
An extraordinary so vast it confused his mind and pulled it into chaos.
He didn't have to think twice to know that this figure was the source of the forbidden echo.
Suddenly, a deep voice rang from the figure; the voice instantly echoed throughout the entire kingdom,
"Those who have just arrived, take a seat."
Apexion thought for a second before sitting down cross-legged.
He also noticed that the moment he sat down, the number of creatures that were already there suddenly quadrupled….
He disregarded them and focused on the wise one, who was now standing at the entrance of his cottage. He was slightly hunched and tilted slightly on a wooden cane that he held in his right hand.
He seemed no different from an ordinary old man. But he was not.
The entire kingdom was silent; no one made a sound.
The wise one slowly gazed around with a calm expression. A second later, he started speaking in a deep and majestic tone.
"There is only one inborn erroneous notion… that we exist in order to be happy."
Each of his words and questions held great meaning and power; they had the ability to trigger a creature's thought process, prompting them to think about their worldview from a different perspective. It also invoked sudden enlightenment.
