Virtual Reality Cultivator-Chapter 69: The Rise of a New Legacy
Chapter 69 - 69: The Rise of a New Legacy
Three days after the fall of Nexus, the real world seemed to return to its usual rhythm. At least, that's what most people thought.
But for Ethan Liu, everything felt different.
He sat on the balcony of his apartment, staring at the flickering city lights in the distance. In his hand, a data chip he had taken from the Nexus central server before the system exploded. He hadn't opened it—afraid of what he might find.
Mei walked over, carrying two cups of hot coffee. "You haven't slept, have you?"
Ethan gave a faint smile. "I can't. It feels like... I'm still inside the Nexus."
The Mysterious Signal
The next morning, Kael contacted them with a serious expression.

"I detected a shortwave signal that closely resembles Nexus code. But this one... it's coming from the real world."
Ethan stood up instantly. "Where from?"
Kael typed rapidly. "An old facility—once owned by the tech company that was an early investor in the VR project—Genitech."
Liana added, "They've been inactive for years. But for some reason... all their systems are coming back online."
The Genitech Facility
That very day, the three of them traveled to the Genitech facility nestled in the remote mountains. A large concrete building stood firm, covered in moss and chilled by the wind. But the front door... was open.
"They want us to come in," Mei murmured.
Inside, the lights slowly flickered on, as if welcoming their arrival. They walked cautiously through the empty hallways, hearing nothing but their own footsteps.
Until they found the central control room.
There, a massive screen lit up... displaying a familiar logo: the symbol of Nexus.
Old Shadows
Suddenly, the screen changed. An old man's face appeared—not a live feed, but a recording.
"If you're seeing this... it means Nexus has been destroyed. And if you made it out, then the main experiment was a success."
"Ethan Liu, you are proof that a total connection between human consciousness and the digital network is possible. But Nexus was only the beginning."
"We—The Echo—are the architects behind the curtain. And we are not done."
The Echo
Mei looked at Ethan. "What is... Echo?"
Liana scrolled through files on the control panel. "A secret organization behind every major virtual reality project in the last 30 years. They vanished... but now we know they were just hiding."
Ethan clenched his fists. "They orchestrated everything. Created Nexus. Created me."
Kael entered from another hallway, carrying a tattered document.
"They also created the next project: Helix Mind."
Final Warning
Before they could investigate further, the system suddenly emitted a warning.
"Alert: Psionic activity detected.""Helix Unit Alpha initiation in progress."
Footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor.
"We're not alone," Mei whispered, drawing her weapon.
From the shadows emerged a tall figure clad in sleek white armor, its face hidden behind a black helmet.
"You've touched a legacy that was not meant to be opened," it said.
Ethan stared at the figure. Its body... wasn't fully human.
"You... you're from Helix Mind?"
The figure nodded. "I am the perfect result. And you... are a threat."
Chapter Ending
In an instant, battle erupted. And Ethan knew—his new journey had only just begun.
