Who Said A Necromancer Can't Be A Priest?-Chapter 100: Execution (3)
Well, technically, she was a goddess.
The priests were one of the most shocked people in the arena. They were more sensitive to divinity and knew the aura wasn't fake, even though Trantua tried spinning it off as one. He wanted to execute Aaran at all costs, and having a god appear there out of nowhere would irrevocably ruin his plans.
Aaran knew what was going on inside Trantua's head and didn't want him to have any chance of spinning the story. That's why he had asked for help from the goddess, who rushed to her beloved's rescue.
A moment later, lightning struck the ground next to Aaran.
Some people thought it was divine retribution and rejoiced, only to be shocked when the dust and debris cleared. A child with glowing blonde hair was nestled in Aaran's arms.
The priests gasped, while the newly appointed head priest fell off his seat, both in fear and admiration.
A goddess has descended on their measly world.
A goddess who was contracted by Aaran.
Nothing they said now would turn the public against Aaran. After all, he did something no priest or virtue had ever accomplished. He made a goddess descend on Elysium to defend him from their foul intentions.
Aaran gently placed the Goddess on the ground before looking Trantua in the eye and flipping him off. He could have been imprisoned for that before, but now that he had a living goddess by his side, the mighty emperor didn't dare make any move.
Trantua had severely underestimated Aaran. No, it wasn't an underestimation. No one on the entire planet could have thought Aaran would summon a goddess.
"Which one of you fools challenged my authority?" the goddess asked in her childish voice.
Despite her appearance, the priests were sweating bullets. They had worked all their lives to attain what sliver of divinity they had and didn't want the goddess to take it away from them.
As for the people who were yelling and cursing at Aaran moments ago, were now on their knees, praying to the goddess.
But that wasn't enough. Not for Aaran.
To add fuel to the fire, he summoned all his undead there as well.
People gasped when Dread, Darius, Cerbie, and Brute appeared. They assumed the undead would perish next to the goddess. Instead, the goddess happily greeted them, and even jumped on Cerbie's back for fun.
Aaran smirked, noticing Trantua's expression. His family's carefully crafted image of dark mages was being ripped into shreds and there was nothing he could do about it.
"Citizens of Runedral!" Aaran yelled. "Feast your eyes on this sight! A goddess who isn't repulsed by darkness, but willingly embraces it."
Aaran turned towards the priests and Trantua before continuing.
"Yet, some fools think they are above the goddess and look at me with contempt! Who is in the wrong here? The Goddess, or these foolish mortals?"
Foolish mortals.
Aaran ensured to point at Trantua and the priests while saying so. It was to add a dramatic flare to his performance as well as redirect the public's confusion and anger to them.
Trantua saw through his act, but he couldn't say a word against Aaran. No one would hear him out in such a situation. In fact, speaking would only cause more problems for him. He could only clench his teeth and watch Aaran humiliate him.
"Take Eleanor and leave," he instructed the knight next to him.
"You majesty…" the knight mumbled before pointing to the arena.
"…"
Trantua's anger soared to new heights when he noticed Eleanor running towards Aaran. She wasn't alone. Seraphina was with her as they jumped into their fiance's embrace.
Both Trantua and Leon looked like they ate a hundred lemons. Their daughters showed no regard for them or their public image before rushing into the Aaran's arms. The man who nearly killed one's father while the other's was on the verge of losing his mind.
Seraphina rested her head on Aaran's shoulder while Eleanor kept apologizing while crying into his chest. A moment later, the goddess noticed them and jumped off Cerbie's back to hug Aaran's back instead.
"Oi! Get off! I'm not done here yet—"
Unfortunately for him, no one cared. Their grip only tightened until he fell on his butt. Everyone laughed, other than those whom Aaran had declared as his enemies.
Now that he had a goddess's support, nothing they did would harm Aaran in the slightest.
Leon couldn't take it anymore and dragged himself to the exit. A few soldiers rushed to help him, but a gunshot rang out as soon as they took a step. Despite being on the ground, Aaran's warning shot landed just between their legs.
"Step into the arena only if you're willing to die," his icy voice forced the soldiers to retreat.
Leon was a virtue and could take care of himself. That's what they repeated in their mind, before quietly returning to their position.

"Aaran—" Seraphina whispered.
"What? You want me to forgive him?"
"Not at all," she shook her head. "Just… be smart about it. You have everything going well for you right now. The public supports you, the priests can lift a finger against you and as for the emperor—"
"Leave father to me," Eleanor interrupted. "I know how to deal with him… especially after what he did."
Aaran was truly stunned. These two used to be their daddy's beloved. That's why it was strange to see them turn against their fathers for his sake. However, the next moment, Seraphina pulled Eleanor's cheek.
"Don't interrupt me again!"
"Ow! Husband, look at her!"
"Husband? I guess… that's the next step."
As he said that, the girls stopped infighting and hugged him back. Aaran did not know the significance of his words. In the girls' minds, they were already planning their weddings and the number of children they'd have.
"Don't forget about me."
The goddess puffed up her chest before looking down at them.
"You… ahem, goddess, you should grow up first," Aaran retorted, promptly getting kicked by the Goddess.
