"I’m exhausted, never doing this kind of work again." Said Lina, sweating and panting, sitting next to the basement. "Priest Milak, try to transport these people back to the temple for treatment, they are all unconscious. We haven’t found Mr. and Mrs. Ryan yet, we have to go back down to keep looking. Oh, Lydia was seriously injured just now. I’ve treated her, but she can’t exercise strenuously for around seven days, you should make arrangements for that too."
Milak looked at the six people awkwardly laying around him in the basement, rubbing his hands, "I’ll go find the village chief for help then."
"Do whatever you want, we’ll go back first." Lina stood up, dusted herself off and was about to return to the basement, but Pannis grabbed her.
"Firstly, it’s already late." Pannis pointed at the stars covering the sky, "Secondly, you haven’t eaten all day, neither have I and I’m hungry. Thirdly, it’s time to sleep, I want a bed, I don’t want to go down just to camp out. Fourthly, you just released the Sand of Rebirth. That kind of divine spell can drain your mana just once, you don’t have any mana to fight now, you must rest overnight. So, do you understand what I’m trying to say?"
"I understand we should rest tonight, and go down to look for them tomorrow." Lina said, "But time is pressing and it’s related to two lives. We can’t just ignore them because we need rest."
Pannis gave her a stern look and said, "The situation underground is complicated and unknown. We don’t know what dangers we’ll encounter. If we rashly go down without being in our best state, we’d not only endanger two lives, but four. As a professional adventurer, you must understand such a simple issue."
Lina was a little stunned, then she slapped her forehead and said in a low voice, "Sorry, I was a little... reckless. You’re right, we really shouldn’t go down today. Let’s go buy something to eat and go back to rest. Priest Milak, go find the village chief to transport these people, we’ll go back to the temple first."
"Priest Lina, I’ll take you back first, then I’ll go find the village chief." Milak said.
"No need, we know the way." Lina pulled Pannis, "Let’s go. The stalls selling snacks should still be open at this time, let’s hurry."
During the Harvest Festival in Angus Village, every dinner time, many merchants would set up their stalls selling food from various places across Yarran Continent. Roasted Kodo meat from the Beastman Prairie, Elven Elven Forest’s salted fruit and boiled forest mushrooms, Mountain Country’s steamed mountain rat ribs and lizard meat floss, Sea Country’s parrot shrimp and electric snails; all these special foods can be purchased here, but of course, prices are definitely hefty. However, even though the prices are high, there are still countless customers because there is only a slight chance to taste these special foods outside of a few large festivals, so tourists would still be willing to spend a little more to try something new.
Lina pulled Pannis and weaved through the stalls. Every time they passed a stall, Pannis could tell the origin, the preparation method, including the background story of the stall’s specialty in detail, even more clearly than some of the stall owners, making them and Lina enjoy his explanations thoroughly.
"Sometimes I really admire you." Lina said while delicately savouring the forest mushrooms in front of her. The forest mushrooms only grow in the Lost Forest. After boiling, it has not only its unique umami flavor but also a fruity freshness. The two tastes mix in the mouth giving a strange yet indescribably delicious flavor, making it unforgettable for those who have tasted it before.
"Admire what about me? My charm?" Pannis had just told a girl from near the Mountain Country a few jokes, making her giggle, blush, and sell him a few portions of steamed mountain rat ribs at a price one-third cheaper, all while flaunting it proudly. After hearing Lina’s words, he bragged, "Actually, I admire myself too. I attract girls’ glances wherever I go."
"Isn’t that because you’re shameless?" Lina rolled her eyes at Pannis, "I admire that you know a little about everything, culture, knowledge, professional skills, and local customs. It’s like there’s nothing you don’t know. Have you traveled all over Yarran Continent?"
"How is that possible." Pannis was chewing on the soft cartilage of the mountain rat ribs, waving his oily hands, "Except for the Guardians, no one dares to claim they’ve traveled all over Yarran Continent. As for me? That’s because I’m too smart, haha, I can remember any knowledge after hearing it once. Uh, speaking of which, I do feel that I’m remarkable."
"Be more modest, you’re always like this every time someone praises you. You must be doing it on purpose." Lina said displeased, stood up, turned around and left, "I can’t be bothered with you, I’m going to buy some more food. I’ve been hungry all day and I still haven’t had enough."
"Uh uh uh, uhhhh." Pannis had stuffed his mouth full with mountain rat ribs, his voice muffled.
