Chapter 352: The Time Overseer’s Reward, Speeding The Egg’s Hatching Time
Leon didn’t care enough about the time overseer or how he was doing emotionally to ask any questions, so all he wanted was for him to do what he said he would do.
"No one has ever managed to resist my time stop before, not a single person," the time overseer mumbled to himself, "Just how is that even possible..."
"Hatch the egg, now," Leon repeated, his voice growing impatient.
"Was it the scrolls you used? Or the sudden boost in speed? But agility shouldn’t be relevant to resisting time, even the fastest being in the world wouldn’t be able to resist my powers..."
"...The egg," Leon said through gritted teeth.
At this point, the time overseer had gone into a full monologue where he simply kept wondering how Leon did it, completely lost in his own thoughts.
He didn’t even seem to care about the player before him or anything else happening around them.
But after around five minutes of this rambling, the time overseer finally snapped out of it.
"Alright, fine," the time overseer put his hands down, allowing Leon to finally see his face for the first time.
But as Leon saw the overseer’s face clearly, a tremor of shock ran through his entire body and soul at what he was looking at.
Where a normal humanoid face should usually be, there was nothing but a dark, endless hole in the time overseer’s face, as if his very existence had been hollowed out.
Only two tiny golden dots could be identified as his eyes floating in that void, but other than that, there was absolutely nothing there.
It was as if his face had been fractured completely and linked directly to the void itself, a permanent wound that would never heal.
"Oh, I usually don’t show my face because of this little issue," the overseer smiled, or at least Leon thought he had based on the tone of his voice, "The [Goddess of Void] did that to me as punishment for defying her commands."
The [Time Overseer] picked up the two pieces of the mask Leon had cut, then using his powers, he reversed time to before they were destroyed, placing the mask back on his face once more as if nothing had happened.
He crouched to grab his staff from the ground then advanced toward Leon with a renewed sense of purpose, "I’ll do what you wanted, and even give you an additional reward for this incredible feat."
’Finally!’ Leon was extremely excited, barely containing his anticipation.
---
[Primordial Dragon of Chaos (Unhatched)]
[Rank: Divine]
[Hatching Time: 4,228 years, 293 days.]
---
His pet would now finally be hatched after all this effort!
"Over 4,000 years is an incredibly long time to wait though," the time overseer spoke thoughtfully, "So I’ll have to use the [Time Chamber] to speed things up significantly."
That was the very same place that Leon had been warned about during the clock speedsters challenge, the one they said he did NOT want to go to.
The overseer snapped his finger as well, and a panel appeared before Leon with his reward details.
[As a reward for completing the "Time Tower’s" challenge, your request shall be filled, and you will receive a personal reward from the "Time Overseer"]
Then after a few seconds of intense focus, the overseer summoned a book into existence from thin air then gave it to Leon with a solemn expression.
"Usually no one has an affinity to the time element since it is so incredibly rare, but since you do, you can actually use this."
Leon looked at the skill book that he received, a powerful aura emitting from it as if time was distorted around its very presence, and it also had a clock face engraved on its cover.
[Time Element Skill Book (Divine): Depending on your control over your time affinity, you shall receive a skill that may help you in the future.]
"Wow..." Leon’s eyes widened with genuine awe, "You aren’t so bad I guess."
A divine-rank item was something Leon had never got his hands on in this life besides the [Primordial Dragon of Chaos] egg itself.
And even considering both of his lives combined, he had only held an item like this around two to three times total.
Anything above that in rank was in the realm of legends because he had never touched something that powerful.
In fact, he didn’t even know what was the rank after [Divine], or if there even was one at all.
"I only have one of them though, so use it carefully, I planned to give it to someone that truly impressed me, and you certainly did."
Once they were done with that exchange, Leon stored the skill book safely in his storage space for later use.
The time overseer then swung his scepter, and a fracture appeared in the middle of the time tower’s top platform, leading to another dimension.
"Let’s go," he said as he looked at Leon expectantly.
Leon grabbed the egg from the ground and followed him inside without any hesitation.
Ding!
[You have entered the "Time Chamber"]
[Inside of it, the flow of time is fully controlled by the "Time Overseer"]
"Isn’t that the case outside too?" Leon asked curiously.
The [Time Chamber] was a massive white void that had literally nothing in it except endless empty space.
"More limitations outside," the overseer replied bluntly, "In here though... anything is possible, here, place your egg right where I point."
A crimson cross appeared on the ground, and Leon placed the [Primordial Dragon of Chaos]’ egg right on top of it, before backing away to a safe distance.
And as soon as he did, something incredible happened.
BOOM!
A glowing cube formed around the egg, encasing it completely, and with a simple sway of his staff, time moved forward inside that small space at an impossible rate.
"Every second outside is a full year inside of this cube," he explained calmly, "So you just need to wait around an hour or so for it to complete."
Leon’s excitement had reached an all-time high as he saw the egg’s hatching time get reduced massively in real time.
He was only one hour away from getting his pet!
...
A/N
Finally the moment after so long, I actually wanted to hatch the egg much sooner but due to all the events in the story, I had to wait for this.
Either way, its finally here!
