Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 82: Smart Design, Game Company Progress
Afterwards, Wesley introduced the layout of the other rooms on the lower level, including the storage room.
It was called the lower level, but that was only because the terrain was lower there. You could only access the backyard garden and the flowing stream from this floor.
After Wesley finished explaining the layout of the lower-level garden and the sunroom by the stream to Wu Yun, he opened the floor plan for the first floor.
The living room, dining room, and both a Western-style and Chinese-style kitchen were all on the first floor. The living and dining areas featured floor-to-ceiling windows and connected to an outdoor terrace. This terrace was also covered, offering enough space to sunbathe in the winter or set up a grill in the spring and fall.
Both garages connected to the first floor, and the main entrance between them led directly to the road outside the community.
Since there were no major changes to the main structure, the layout of the second-floor bedrooms remained largely the same as before.
"Mr. Wu, regarding your earlier request for smart home integration," Wesley said, gesturing to the middle-aged man beside him, "we’ve referenced the world’s most advanced systems. Our home consultant, Zhang Zhihong, will now walk you through it."
The middle-aged man stood up, took the presentation remote Wesley handed him, and said, "Mr. Wu, allow me to first introduce how we’ll be applying smart technology in this home."
"To ensure your privacy, the entire system will run on an internal local area network, with everything hardwired. We’ll set up a main server in the first-floor storage room. This server will connect to all the appliances in the villa, enabling centralized smart control."
"First, we’ve installed voice-capturing systems throughout the villa to receive the owner’s commands. Before you move in, Mr. Wu, you’ll need to register your voice profile with the server. This means the entire operating system will only respond to commands from registered voices."
"You can give the system a name—for example, Jarvis from Iron Man. When you need to issue a command, you can just say, ’Jarvis, open the living room curtains!’ or ’Jarvis, turn on the lights in a certain area.’"
"Of course, that’s just the basics. All the appliances we’ve purchased are fully interconnected. You can use voice commands like, ’Jarvis, turn on the AC and set it to 77 degrees!’"
"The system also supports personalization, like time-based schedules and user preferences. You can explore the details by trying it out on-site or by consulting the user manual. For even smarter functionality, we can add accessories like cameras, but I’ve only listed those as optional, as we were concerned you might feel they would infringe on your privacy, Mr. Wu."
"Naturally, the garage doors will be fully automated. They can open automatically via cameras using vehicle, license plate, and facial recognition. They can also be operated by voice command. We can even configure the main entrance to open via voice and other methods."
"Of course, all the lights and appliances can still be operated manually in the traditional way."
Zhang Zhihong’s presentation left Wu Yun deeply impressed. He pictured life in the villa, where everything would be voice-activated—controlling the robot vacuum, the lights, and all the other appliances. The very thought was thrilling.
Before his rebirth, Wu Yun had stayed in a smart hotel once. Back then, he had used the Xiaodu voice assistant on the nightstand to open the curtains and turn on the lights.
But the system being installed in his villa now was completely custom-built for him. No one could use it unless he granted them authorization.
"Engineer Zhang, can this system be updated if it becomes obsolete or falls behind the times?" Wu Yun asked, thinking of the major revolution in smart technology he knew was coming in a few years.
"Mr. Wu, the system comes with a two-year warranty. Upgrades and retrofits are also possible. We factored in the potential need for future upgrades right from the initial design phase. However, those costs would not be covered under the warranty."
Wu Yun nodded, very pleased with the smart home design. He knew that in a few years, smart speakers like the Xiaodu and Tmall Elf would make this kind of functionality commonplace, but for now, it was still cutting-edge technology.
"Excellent. I’m very satisfied with the system. Now let’s pick an interior design style. Once that’s decided, I can finalize the plan."
Hearing this, Wesley took the presentation remote again and opened the final PowerPoint.
The three design mock-ups Wesley presented were all in a modern, light luxury style, differing only in subtle details like color palettes and decorative lines.
Wu Yun chose his favorite design, one with a bright color scheme. He then spent another half hour discussing some minor modifications with Wesley before finalizing the plan completely.
"Mr. Wu, based on your requirements and the smart system configuration, the total renovation cost will be between 8 and 10 million yuan," Wesley said, quoting a price that was within Wu Yun’s budget. "We’ll need to run precise calculations for the final number, and the complete design will be ready in a week. As per our agreement, we require a 30% deposit. For now, we can calculate that based on the lower estimate of 8 million."
’To the current Wu Yun, this amount of money was hardly worth mentioning. Plus, with his 90% off card for villa purchases and renovations, he would only end up spending between 800,000 and 1 million. It was an absolute steal.’
Wu Yun didn’t act like some nouveau riche slob; he simply paid the 2.4 million deposit as agreed. Due to his discount, he only paid 240,000 out of pocket, but his experience points increased by the full 2.4 million.
After making the payment, Wu Yun took his leave. Wesley and his team escorted him to his car and only turned to head back to the office after watching his Big Black Bull drive away.
"It must be nice to be rich," Wesley sighed.
One of the junior assistants chuckled. "You’re making a pretty penny on this project yourself, Brother Wei!"
Wesley shook his head and smiled. "It’s a decent amount, but how many massive projects like this would it take to afford a Lamborghini?" ’Better to be realistic,’ he thought. ’A new car worth two or three hundred thousand would be plenty nice.’
Wu Yun didn’t drive straight back to school, instead heading toward his game company.
「Kunpeng Games」
After half a month of expansion, the number of employees had already doubled. Thankfully, the receptionists were the same as before, so there wasn’t an awkward scene where they failed to recognize their own chairman.
Wu Yun went straight to see Ling Yi and Lu Changsheng to get an update on the company’s progress and the development status of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
It had only been half a month, so Wu Yun considered it a win that the company was simply up and running properly. He wasn’t expecting any significant progress.
But to his surprise, Lu Changsheng gave him a pleasant one. "President Wu, your design document saved us a huge amount of time on game planning. We were able to jump straight into character art and modeling for the weapons and map. Based on our current progress, we’re on track to have a beta version ready before the end of the year!"
"Excellent! President Ling, President Lu, I’m counting on you both for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. If the company ever runs short on cash, just let me know. The funds will be there immediately."
Ling Yi and Lu Changsheng readily agreed. ’It’s amazing working for a boss who has no shortage of money,’ they thought. All they had to do was focus on development and management without ever worrying about funding.
After leaving Kunpeng Games, Wu Yun paid a visit to Galaxy Network. He chatted with Wang Chao and Qi Fei, got an update on their development progress, and left after once again making the bold promise that money was no object.
