Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer
Chapter 1491: Defense Border Part 6
Xu Feng was rendered speechless by Cute Joy’s explanation.
Had it not been for the fact that the two of them were supposed to be just mere acquaintances in public, he would have long raised the middle fingers to these people.
How dare they order their members to risk their lives to continue a stream!
If they wanted to see it, then they were free to come over to Bardmon City to spectate.
Alas, he couldn’t afford to show too much concern for them. Otherwise, people would really suspect their relationship.
His hesitation was short-lived, though, when Little Honey sent him a private message that it was all right.
Even if they died, they had some life-saving token to prevent a heavy penalty imposed upon them.
Needless to say, these life-saving tokens were extremely rare and expensive to obtain.
"Very well." In the end, Xu Feng nodded and told them to do as they pleased.
He had no time or energy to be worried about others, as he needed to meet up with Kong Ming to define.
He wanted everyone to evacuate, not because he had given up on Bardmon City, but because they were just going to be cannon fodder.
They wouldn’t even last a second in the face of a Tier 4 Demon Lord.
Moreover, this wasn’t the first time Xu Feng had encountered one. Back then, there was also a Demon summoned by the player in hopes of sieging his Haven Wind Town.
Unfortunately for them, the Demon they managed to summon was only Tier 2, and they were of a minor elite, a far cry from an actual Demon Lord who could bring destruction and ruin.
But this time... it was a bona fide Demon Lord—one that was even at a minimum power of Tier 4.
How did the difficulty increase exponentially?
Thankfully, Xu Feng still had the communication token with Olivia.
By the time the call connected, Olivia asked in a disgruntled tone.
"What is it now?" She was starting to doubt whether she had made the wrong judgment.
"A Tier 4 Demon Lord is being summoned in Bardmon City." Xu Feng replied in a flat tone. He didn’t even bother to make any jokes or light chattering as he went straight to the point.
That was how serious the situation was.
"Where?" Sure enough, Olivia’s tone also changed as she asked for the coordinates. Not a single question was asked because there was no time for it if a Demon Lord really descended into their world.
In response, he directly dropped the precise coordinate.
"City Magistrate Kong Ming and I will try our best to contain the Demon Lord, whereas the rest of the citizens will evacuate to my Haven Wind Town. I expect the empire to compensate me for the impromptu mass teleportation fee."
To teleport so many people at once in the Teleport Platform was equivalent to quadrupling the prices and materials. Even Xu Feng could not afford to spend such an expense without putting his guild’s financial status in jeopardy.
"Relax, the emperor wouldn’t be that poor to not be able to compensate you for the money." Olivia naturally understood the severity and how one person alone couldn’t possibly sustain such a huge expense.
"Thanks, I’ll meet you at the defense border. No need to rush, but be quick!" Xu Feng canceled the communication signal.
This wasn’t him being petty about how she cut him off earlier. The situation was really dire right now, and he couldn’t afford to spend time chatting.
"The people are being evacuated, but it will take more than half an hour to be completely clear." Kong Ming arrived and said.
"I would have my people help them, but we cannot afford to let too many strong people idle around. The stronger the people are, the greater the power the Demon Lord would absorb." Xu Feng explained.
He had personally witnessed one of the gravest mistakes that players had made when they first learned of a Demon Lord’s arrival. They all gathered up together in hopes to spawn kill the Demon Lord as soon as it appeared.
Unfortunately for them, they didn’t realize the Demon Lord’s attributes would further increase based on how many people were in a certain radius.
And the radius was dependent on how strong they were.
A Tier 1 Demon Lord could cover about the size of a town, whereas a Tier 2 Demon Lord could cover the size of approximately 3 towns.
In other words, a Tier 4 Demon Lord could cover the size of not just Bardmon City, but the vast acres in the land past the defense border.
"We are probably going to perish in this battle." Kong Ming smiled lightly.
His eyes were crystal clear, almost as if he were ready to sacrifice his life to stall the Demon Lord.
’You better not think about going into self-destruct mode!’ Xu Feng wanted to shout those words aloud, but refrained from doing so. He paid such a hefty price to recruit Kong Ming into his ranks.
There was no way in hell he would let Kong Ming die in battle.
If anything, he would just forfeit Bardmon City as a last resort.
After all, Bardmon City ceased to exist in the past timeline anyway, so he wasn’t stubborn enough to not give up on the city.
"Kong Ming, you’ll be the rear support." Xu Feng patted his shoulder and pulled him behind.
"But Sir—"
"I’m a Cleric, but that doesn’t mean I’m squishy."
Others often called a Cleric the second tank because they might not have much defense, but their healing was powerful enough to sustain themselves on the battlefield.
"I’m the ultimate commander here. I have already briefed Judge Olivia of our situation, so we just need to last long enough for reinforcement to come through." Xu Feng said.
Kong Ming was about to nod his head when suddenly, a group of players approached them.
"Who let you in?" Kong Ming quickly frowned at the sight of newcomers.
"Wait," Xu Feng raised his hand as he spotted a familiar figure, Hazel.
"What are you doing here?"
Hazel took a few seconds to catch her breath and explained. "The Teleport Platform in the city is destroyed."
