Chapter 78: Two Groups, Different Missions

The next day, two groups had been created and had entirely different directions to take.

Roman and North had both boarded a runner each and were on course to the Citadel, while the rest of them were about to enter the valley.

"We will join you right after returning from Citadel City, but if you return before us, it’ll be great," North said.

"We won’t need your help, Admin," Lyra said without sparing a glance, as she had her belt on.

"Oh well, that’s what I should expect from you, Lyra. Good luck, by the way," North smiled and said before entering the runner.

"Good luck, North. Watch out for him, and please don’t ask me why."

"I won’t!" North said as the runner drifted away, joining Roman’s as they left the scene in no time.

Rena was left with the remaining members of the Dominion Legion, and they seemed to have their eyes on her the next moment. She herself was also staring confusedly, a kind of glare that made it hard to detect what it meant.

"Don’t be scared, Young Mistress. We won’t hurt you," Sapphire said as she smiled at her, tilting her head.

"I’m not scared of any of you," Rena stared at her and said before making her way forward.

Sapphire and Lyra both glanced at each other and exchanged a smile before they followed up.

"She’s gonna be such a lucky girl," Sapphire muttered to Lyra as they walked alongside each other.

"True. We all are gonna be. That’s just it," Lyra nodded.

"Yeah, I know, but..."

"She’s gonna be his wife? Tsk! They are surely gonna break up when he decides to focus on the Cross Operation rather than being with her all year long," Lyra cut in, knowing where Sapphire was actually heading.

She then placed her hand on her shoulder and whispered in her ear.

"Look at her. She is the kind who would always want her man’s attention and presence. Roman wouldn’t be able to grant her that, and she would be forced to leave him," Lyra explained.

All she had said was already looking like it was making sense, and they didn’t know that Nightmare was hearing what they were gossiping about.

He approached them, and with just a whisper, he dropped a bomb that made their faces turn dark.

"Well, what if he turns down the Cross Operation after learning of the conditions and chooses her over us? Isn’t there a possibility of that?"

Nightmare said and walked away, leaving both of them frozen and short of words. They couldn’t hide the look of intense disgust toward him after he had just dropped another hateful statement.

It was what they had always known him to be.

A troublemaker.

When there was a big fun moment in the group, he would always show up with something to spoil the fun and would leave just like he hadn’t done a thing.

"Son of a bitch," Lyra cursed with a tough frown.

But it was really true... What he had said might have been pretty annoying, but it was an understandable possibility, which was why they had been looking for the best way to fully bring Roman into the group.

Not just by adding him to the Platinum Group Chat and making him feel equal to the rest of them, but also by making him physically part of their project.

The Beyond Project.

And until they succeeded in convincing Roman Rings to be part of them, they wouldn’t be able to carry out every plan they had and wouldn’t be able to succeed with any.

It could be crazy to imagine how a mere F-ranker is so crucial, but whatever his importance is, it is known to them and them alone.

Even Roman wouldn’t know why he is important to them until he finally discovers exactly why.

When they had entered the valley, Rena was the one leading the way until Melissa suggested that they divide into two groups to make the mission faster.

"My sister and I will go with the Young Mistress. Nightmare, Sapphire, and Lyra will take the east. We’ll take the west."

"Not a bad idea," Melisandra nodded as she gave Rena a sharp look.

It had taken the other group a while before they agreed, and they soon went their separate ways after Rena nodded.

Walking with the Good Sisters was not entirely bad, but Rena simply didn’t care about whatever advantage she would get from being with them.

All she wanted at this point was for Roman and North to take down the Mayor of Citadel City and make sure that the next Mayor wouldn’t be another cruel son of a bitch.

Everything that had happened still looked fresh in her mind, and she hadn’t recovered from the shock and grief even a little bit.

Nothing about Roman’s friends and the Cross Operation amused her, and she really wanted them to leave so she could have Roman to herself.

By the time they reached the first territory on the west side, Rena had taken out her weapons without even alerting them.

[Location: Cold Green Rocks.]

[Inhabitants: Green Poison Lizards.]

[Chances of Survival: 79%.]

"Hey, won’t you bother inviting us?" Melisandra spoke as she watched her charge toward one of the rocks, but Rena chose not to answer.

It had only taken a matter of twelve minutes before she finished up the entire territory, her dagger painted in dark-green blood with a smell that was almost unpleasant.

She wiped it like it was nothing, when they were all sure that it was pure, killable poison that wouldn’t take a minute to damage one’s vision.

However, Rena walked out nonchalantly and set out for the next destination, while they both watched her from behind in slight amazement.

"She is... interesting," Melissa said with a smile.

"Sure she is. But for how long?" Melisandra asked. "We need to tell her that killing a monster doesn’t really require rage and grief."

"Sometimes it kills faster than the bite of a Tyrant Serpent."

"Well, the Green Poison Lizards are not Tyrant Serpents," Melissa turned to her and furrowed her brows.

"I’m just trying to give a lesson here," Melisandra stared back at her sister.

"Oh well, sister. Maybe you should keep your lessons to yourself, because she doesn’t seem like someone who would ever be ready to listen to them."
