A makeshift team of four was assembled, setting out toward the heart of the city. It was an unusual sight—Yun Yao and Tian Tian, whose lives seemed to belong to different worlds, now walking side by side.

"Xiao jie jie, what did you do before coming here?" Yun Yao asked casually.

"I—I’m a..." Tian Tian froze under Yun Yao’s radiant, stylish presence. Insecurity clouded her face, making it impossible to form a coherent response.

"She’s unemployed and just staying home," Qiao Jiajin suddenly cut in. "Don’t you see how little she’s wearing? That’s her sleepwear."

"Oh? So that’s how it is," Yun Yao nodded. "Let me introduce myself. I’m Yun Yao, the lead singer of an idol group. You’re quite beautiful yourself, xiao jie jie. If you’re out of work, why not consider becoming an idol?"

"Idol?" Tian Tian clearly hadn’t heard the word before.

"You don’t follow celebrities?" Yun Yao explained patiently. "{Idol} is just a phonetic transliteration—it means a performer, an entertainer in the industry."

"I’ve already passed that age..." Tian Tian forced a smile. "Besides, I’m not worthy of being an idol."

"Not worthy? Xiao jie jie, you look weighed down by sorrow." Yun Yao’s tone grew solemn as she studied Tian Tian. "Have you been mistreated in the past?"

"I..."

Before ✪ Nоvеlіgһt ✪ (Official version) Tian Tian could continue, Qiao Jiajin patted Yun Yao’s shoulder. "Leng-mui, you really enjoy talking. Why not talk with me instead and give her a break?"

"Oh?" Yun Yao shifted her gaze to him. "So what do you do?"

"Damn..." Qiao Jiajin laughed awkwardly. "Now that you mention it, I don’t really have a proper job either."

"Seriously?" Yun Yao blinked in confusion. "Was your probation room some kind of {unemployment fair}?" Her eyes then moved to Qi Xia, as if struck by a sudden thought. "And you, Qi Xia? Someone as smart as you must have a pretty impressive job, right?"

The trio was left dumbfounded by her three questions.

"How about changing the subject?" Qi Xia said dryly. He finally understood why Specs and Kim Wonhun couldn’t handle her. With that style of conversation, it seemed only Qiao Jiajin could keep up.

"Change the subject...?" Yun Yao thought for a moment, then asked, "What are your strengths and talents?"

"I don’t really have any special talents," Qi Xia answered. "I’ve just read more than most."

"I can tell." Yun Yao nodded in admiration. "I’ve always liked intellectual men."

"I don’t have any special talents either," Qiao Jiajin shrugged. "But I can fight."

"Fight?" Yun Yao blinked in surprise. "I’ve never heard of that as a {talent} before."

"Uh..." Qiao Jiajin scratched his head, gave a sheepish laugh, then asked, "What about you? What are you good at?"

"As for me..." Yun Yao stopped walking, glanced at the trio, and said, "I’m just incredibly lucky."

Incredibly lucky?

Qi Xia and Qiao Jiajin exchanged looks.

"Your talent sounds even less reliable than fighting," Qi Xia remarked. "Are you planning to rely on luck to lead us to victory in the game?"

"What’s wrong with that?" Yun Yao chuckled. "I’ve had good luck since childhood—that’s my strength."

"Confidence without substance isn’t the same as talent," Qi Xia commented. "{Luck}, after all, isn’t something you can control. Unless you—" He cut himself off, staring at Yun Yao, disbelief flashing in his eyes.

"That’s right, just as you guessed," Yun Yao grinned. "You’re very perceptive—it’s called {Potent Luck}."

Qi Xia wished he hadn’t been right.

Yun Yao’s {Reverberation} was {Potent Luck}? If that were true... was there nothing that could stand in her way?

"Damn... What are you two talking about?" Qiao Jiajin was utterly baffled. "What’s {Potent Luck}? Whose name is {Potent Luck}?"

Qi Xia stayed silent, dread growing in his chest. Compared to these people, his own actions felt reckless. These {Reverberatees}, each with extraordinary powers, built strategic teams—while he had been throwing himself against the {Earthly Branches} with nothing but human limitations.

"So, does that mean you can win every battle?" Qi Xia asked.

"Win every battle?" Yun Yao gave him a puzzled look. "Ah, I almost forgot—you’re still unfamiliar with {Reverberation}. Perhaps you don’t realize... a perfect record is absolutely impossible."

‘Impossible?’ Qi Xia frowned. "If your ability is {Potent Luck}, how could you possibly lose? Even if you fought an Asiatic black bear, the bear could suddenly fall sick and die, no?"

Yun Yao considered, then answered with grave seriousness, "Qi Xia, who told you that {Reverberation} is a {superpower}?"

"Is it not?" Qi Xia asked. "What {Reverberatees} can do—their strength—it goes far beyond regular people. Doesn’t that make it a superpower?"

Yun Yao nodded slightly. "It’s no wonder you think that way... but the truth is different. Qi Xia, {Reverberation} isn’t a {superpower}, it’s a latent {belief}."

‘Belief?’ The word struck him as even more abstract than {superpower}. Qi Xia suddenly recalled Jiang Ruoxue’s explanation—she had said the same, that {Reverberation is an abstract concept}.

"It’s hard to put into words," Yun Yao said, extending her hand and gazing at it. "In any case, my {Reverberation} doesn’t guarantee success, and... honestly, the chance of failure is still quite high."

"Wait..." Qi Xia blinked, processing. "So you’re saying that while you can trigger {Potent Luck}, it can also fail?"

"Yes, exactly." Yun Yao nodded, clearly pleased that he understood.

Qi Xia couldn’t bring himself to smile at her happiness. To him, she seemed completely insane.

What kind of bullshit {Reverberation} was this? Sometimes triggering {Potent Luck}, sometimes not. By that logic, wasn’t he also experiencing random {Good Fortune}? Yet Yun Yao still had her memories—she was without a doubt a {Reverberatee}. He couldn’t fathom how she managed to live so confidently with such a negligible ability.

Qi Xia stopped dwelling on it and instead asked, "So, what game are we going to play?"

"Anything works." Yun Yao smiled. "I feel like our team is strong; we can take on anyone."

"Agreed." Qiao Jiajin nodded. "Swindler lad, last time I was tied up and couldn’t show my true skills, but this time I’ll prove myself."

Tian Tian added quietly, "If there are any particularly dangerous challenges, I’d like to go first."

Qi Xia slowly covered his forehead, overcome with the feeling that this team was full of problems.
