Transmigrated To A Beastworld As The Lazy Wife Of The Fox Lord
Chapter 226: Something was not right.
It did not escape Sienna’s notice that Mr. Wit did not say a word when she told him to defend himself. His family had done all the talking. His mother seemed to dominate the men in a way that was not so great.
"What evidence?" Claire Wit asked.
At that moment, the doors creaked open. Heavy boots echoed against the floor as a squad of enforcers entered, protecting a doctor in their midst. The doctor stepped forward, bowing slightly to Sienna, before addressing the room.
"We have just returned from, Merde Central," he announced, his voice carrying the weight of authority. "We have investigated the claims regarding Vico Wit."
The Wit family stiffened, their faces paling. Claire’s hands clenched her dress, while her husbands eyes darted nervously.
"Who gave you permission to disturb my son?" Claire growled. "If anything happens to him, I will make sure everyone pays." She glared at the doctor, "My family owns half of the hospital. You are fired, you hear me. You are fired."
The doctor turned pale quickly. He had agreed to come after so much convincing, he didn’t think he would lose his job. He just wanted to do the right thing. His hand clenched around the enveloped, suddenly unsure if he wanted to go through with it.
Sienna laughed. "Calm down grandma, I can have my husband buy all your family shares in a heartbeat. Hell, I am sure after I suggest that he investigate it, you might have to shut down your doors. I get the feeling that you guys play fast and loose with medical laws."
Claire stumbled back.
Looking at the doctor, Sienna said, "Come work for me, in the office of women and cubs. Only if you have a spine and good morals."
The young doctor smiled, scratching the back of his neck. "I will accept your offer." He smirked at Claire, "And I will happily testify to all the criminal activity I have witnessed during my three years there as a doctor." He ripped off the top half of the envelope and handed papers to Sienna, continuing, "There is a Vico Wit, in the private VIP wing used by families of board members.
He occupies six whole wards by himself, the walls were broken to make an apartment for him within the hospital. He lies in critical condition currently, his body is shutting down. His breath is shallow. In my opinion, he has no more than a few days to live. The physicians are doing what they can to buy more time, but he will not survive the week."
Sienna raised her eyes from one of the documents, "Mrs. Claire Wit, you said your son has until twenty to live. But it says here that he is eighteen and aboutto breathe his last. I would imagine that at such a time, your family would be rallying around Vico, not finding him a bride. Also, you all seem sure that he will live until twenty. How..."
"Aha!" Bea Wit cried out, "See what I said? They want to siphon life from my sister to buy him at least two years. If the ritual works, he will go on to live a full healthy life while Anita wilts away."
The air simmered with suspicion.
The older Mr. Wit stammered, "This proves nothing. We are not rallying because we have prepared ourselves already. We always knew this day would come. And being hopeful is not a crime. The doctors said he would not live beyond twenty, so he could have died anytime from the day he was born to now. There is no specific date or year. Vico has been close to death before and he pulled through. It could happen again."
"He could even live to eighty. Science makes advancements all the time." Claire injected in, with denial in her voice.
Sienna tapped her empty vacuum cup on the table. "Okay, I think I have heard everything now. I don’t know the true state of Bea’s state of mind, but she was not lying about Vico. She was also not lying about the marriage proposal. Those two truths are enough for me to believe her on some parts of this story. She has also admitted to buying a gun with thoughts of killing her husband.
I have met the Wit family and I think I have a small understanding of what she has gone through. There is a lot of verbal and emotional abuse from the Wit’s which Mr. Durand seems comfortable ignoring, especially from his mother.
This woman has been pushed beyond her boundaries and her husband is a collaborator. Clearly, this marriage has run its course. So, I am agreeing to the divorce."
She waved her hand at Mija and the snake beast woman opened the bag pack, bringing out the divorce papers prepared by the lawyers of the women and cub’s office. It came with multiple reasons for divorce. All Sienna had to do was mark one that suited the situation.
She chose irreconcilable differences and signs of violence. After she marked them off, she waved at Mrs. Bea Wit. "Sign here and freedom is yours. Before we arrived, Miss Mija had already looked into the financial situation of your family. My recommendation would be that you get 50% of your husband’s assets. But after you asked for a divorce the first time, he transferred everything he owns to his mother’s name. You will be walking away with close to nothing. Are you sure you still want to divorce?"
Bea marched forward, handed the gun and knife to Wayo. She signed the papers without hesitation. "His money never mattered to me. I didn’t even know his mother was wealthy until his mother started throwing her authority around in Merde Central. He can keep his money, and miserable mother."
After she stepped away, Sienna looked at the fox guards. "Drag him over, you know the routine if he resists."
But they didn’t need to do anything. Claire pushed Durand forward, "Hurry up and sign those papers for me. That jinx is not worth it. I will find you a better wife, one that matches our status."
Durand signed the papers like a robot, not sparing a glance at Bea.
Sienna looked at the doctor, "Do me a favor and examine Mr. Durand."
"What?"Claire screamed.
Sienna smiled and shrugged, "Before you trap another woman into his misery, I want to make sure that he is healthy. Just humor me."
The fox guards moved with speed, grabbing Durand, who was screaming and dragging him to the nearest bathroom. His brothers and father were put down by enforcers as they tried to fight.
Linera covered Claire’s mouth, claws at the woman’s neck. "You shout, I kill."
The old woman clammed up, trembling in fear.
The Corvinus family of four embraced, crying together for their daughter’s escape from what they considered a prison.
Mija leaned down and asked Sienna, "Why are you having him checked out?"
Sienna whispered back, "Because the Wit family went out of their way to make everyone believe Bea was crazy. They had doctors at their hospital proving it. Never external doctors, only theirs. She was found to be fertile but endured blame for the couple’s failure to have children. And yet, Durand did not divorce her and his mother did not kick her out, for all her hatred of Bea. Something is not right."
