Chapter 1052: Reversing the Situation
"So, what do you want me to do?"
Clovis smiled. "There will be a Tier 9 human over there, as I said. I'd like you to stop him. Once he's out of the picture, my team has the confidence to defeat the enemy."
"β¦" Kayne crossed his arms. "Well, I agree to go there, but I haven't agreed to participate in the battle. I guess I should at least observe them first. Surely, if I help you, you're going to give me something back, right?"
"Yes." Clovis nodded. "I won't disappoint you."
"Disappoint me? There's actually an easy way for me to agree. Just forget about your grandpa, and I will become your grandpa from now on." Kayne smirked.
"Please cease your jokes. One origin can't change." Clovis shook his head. "Besides, you already have a wonderful family, sir."
"Family, huh?" Kayne glanced at the mansion. Many women approached him. Even the country would be helping him if he wanted to get a woman.
After all, it would just mean spreading his strong genes around. It would also stop him from leaving the country.
Kayne couldn't really admit it out loud, but there was no one who had ever moved his heart more than Clovis' grandmother.
Kayne scratched the back of his head. "I was thinking whether you need to marry one of my granddaughters or maybe make them your students. But I know their talents. They might be quite talented, but none of them is qualified for that position. Even your members are more talented than them. So I guess I will refrain from asking that. I don't like to be a disappointment."
Clovis smiled wryly. Kayne's granddaughters and grandson were quite excellent. In fact, three of his sons and one of his daughters had reached Tier 8.
This alone was more than enough to show the strength of his genes. It was also why people allowed polygamy and sometimes encouraged it for those who were strong to actually have multiple spouses. Even a woman could have multiple husbands if that would increase their desire to have more babies.
Kayne waved his hand. "Anyway, you should go back now. I've agreed to your request to go there, but I will still need to see whether I want to fight or not."
In a way, Kayne was showing his kindness through this statement.
After all, Clovis had only received information about a new Tier 9 human. There was no confirmation that this Tier 9 human would be fighting in this competition.
By using this statement, Kayne was basically telling him that Clovis wouldn't be owing him anything in case the Tier 9 human didn't fight.
Clovis didn't know whether he should feel moved by Kayne's kindness or amazed by his grandmother's charm.
"I understand. Thank you very much." Clovis stood up and politely bowed. "I will take my leave."
"You knowβ¦" Kayne's voice stopped him after he had just turned back. Clovis turned around, only to find Kayne looking away so that he couldn't see his expression. Kayne continued, "You look like your grandmother. You have her charm. At least, that brute gives you strength. Make sure to protect the people you love. Don't fail like your grandfather."
Clovis smiled. Surely, he would find Kayne blushing if he just tilted his body a bit, but Clovis simply nodded and walked away. ππ£πππ°πππ§πΌπππ.π°π¨π¦
β¦
And it looked like he managed to convince Kayne.
The Sword Saint panicked. "Youβ¦ Howβ¦"
He didn't expect Kayne to be here. No, it was more accurate to say that he didn't even notice he had been here all this time. The fact that the Dark Moon Mercenary hadn't appeared yet meant Kayne had followed the rules. In other words, he was in the city all the time.
He should have been able to sense a strong guy like Kayne, but he soon noticed that Kayne was not like other Tier 9 humans.
In terms of strength, presence, and other things, he could be considered the weakest. That was why no one would actually notice him if he walked around.
"Berserker! Are you really going to help them? Do you know that the Prophet is supporting me? If you join this fight, he will consider you his enemy!" Jean tried to stop Kayne from participating.
"I don't know whether he wants me to be an enemy or not. In fact, he would say nothing if I killed you here right now, brat. Don't you know the Prophet killed a person I loved in the past?"
"!!!" Jean widened his eyes.
Not many knew it, but it was indeed true. However, Lily ended up becoming Clovis' grandmother. At the same time, it was true that Kayne still had a feeling for Lily when the Prophet struck her down.
So, there was a grudge between them.
"I'm not picking a fight or anything. I'm settling the grudge. I don't think the Prophet is going to consider me an enemy, given the situation he is currently in. Besides, the Libation Fiesta has agreed to give me two paintings for my help." Kayne smirked.
Clovis was surprised by Kayne's request, considering they hadn't agreed on compensation yet. Still, he knew how easy it was to produce a painting.
If two paintings were all it took to gain Kayne's support, Clovis was more than happy to accept it. "Indeed."
Kayne pointed forward. "Go on, kid. Do what you need to do. I will have some fun with this brat who is still leaving his snot on his sword."
The situation had been reserved one more time. No one expected Clovis would manage to convince Kayne this time. But with his help, they should be able to win.
They were scared previously, thinking that this was the end of their lives because Clovis' plan didn't work.
But it turned out Clovis had prepared everything.
Clovis immediately ordered, "Let's not waste any more time. Go wild!"
They grinned excitedly. Since the situation had gone to their favor, they immediately charged forward.
"NO!" Jean waved his hand, gesturing for his people to attack Clovis and the others.
The clash between the two competitors had just begun, but it looked like the Prophet had another plan.
