After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World-Chapter 1310: Reinforcements from Both Sides (Part 1)

Things happened fast and in parallel. In fact, it had only been a few minutes since the Aegis was taken down, and there were already several fights reaching their peak, especially those that started even before it was taken down.

Alterra's flares, while they alerted Alterrans that the bunkers were finally getting attacked, they also alerted the enemies who had been hiding, bidding their time.

The first to arrive was the Batco Mercenary Team, a Mercenary Team from another Town that was decidedly not Basset. They had been hiding nearby when the flares lit up in the 'target' location, alerting them that the last battle—the battle for the Lord Token—had begun.

These mercenaries didn't wait a moment and lunged at the Alterrans who had been dealing with Feller's group. Some were easy to kick, though they'd be up and about soon after, showing off their superior equipment.

Further, if one did get seriously injured, he'd be taken out by uniformed personnel, but he'd be quickly replaced by other fighters.

These people also cooperated too well, even when they didn't arrive at the same time!

For instance, a formation was taken down one minute, then someone from another newly arrived team would head there to replace him. It was extremely annoying!

Hunt, the level 32 Captain leading this mission, sneered. He had wanted to save his energy for the inevitable battle with the powerhouses, who he assumed to be guarding next to the Lord here.

He looked at the fights going on and chose his targets, deciding on a few Alterrans with their backs to him as they handled some of Feller's men.

However, before he could make a move, he felt something crawling near him. He glanced down to see… vines, about to wrap around both legs. "Heh." he sneered, immediately raising his weapon and swiping down to cut it.

However, as he did so, he felt danger swiftly approach and he leaned back, barely avoiding the tip of a Class D Spear.

He regained his balance by flipping on his back, landing a few meters away with a sharp glare in his eyes.

The spear continuously stabbed at him and he cursed, though fortunately, he had the advantage of level, so none of the first parries hit him.

He glared at his attacker, a familiar pale guy with an indifferent expression on his face. Before Hunt could say anything though, a boulder shot towards him.

It was angled in a way that if he tried to avoid it, he'd be met with the damned spear and vice versa.

At this, Hunt had no choice but to immediately use one of his skills [Axe Wave], which deflected to weapon, allowing him to avoid the boulder coming at him.

He lifted his head, weapons up, and looked at his new attackers. Two teams seemed to have arrived, with the rest of them handling his men, and the two leaders—Orz and Sean—were here to deal with him.

"You're not going to gain anything by making an enemy of Alterra, Hunt," Orz said, rudely pointing his weapon at them.

He recognized them as people from the Batco Mercenary Team, the official Mercenary team of Batco Town hundreds of kilometers northeast of Alterra. They arrived along with many others after Alterra upgraded to a Town, hoping to make deals with them.

Hunt was one of the leaders of the mercenary team. Orz himself had assisted him.

"We have everything to gain in Alterra," Hunt said, correcting Orz with a smile. Orz, on the other hand, only sneered at him.

As for where he got his confidence from, it was probably due to his luck so far. Batco had never dealt with a town with a higher level so it was very rare that they had encountered serious obstacles.

Batco Town was a very old Level 1 Town up North, and was a definite powerhouse in this tier. In the past few years, they had been trading some resources with Basset, though it wasn't a publicized deal to protect the exclusivity of both sides.

Basset's location was a good place to create connections between the rich plains of the central-south region and the North, so there was a mutual advantage in this partnership which ultimately allowed the two territories to grow fast during this time—with Batco reaching the peak of the level, predicted to upgrade to a Level 2 Town within the decade.

At some point though, new and very interesting products emerged. Basset sold these products as theirs and, for a while, this was all they knew. Even if the items were sold for exorbitant prices, Batco consumed them quickly. Too quickly.

Seeing potential, Batco decided to do a deeper investigation about the goods, and they eventually found out that these things were actually another territory! A few more (possibly threatening) questions later, they realized that Basset was planning to go to war to completely take over its source.

How could Batco not want a piece of the pie?!

So Batco Town—which had always been opportunistic—ended up joining in. Better: They could register as mercenary and merchants simply looking to go on bulk purchases like everyone else, lessening the suspicion on them.

At the very least, most of Alterra's investigative resources were spent on other people instead.

Anyway, the items they got since they stayed only made them greedier for Alterra.

Hunt grinned and licked his lips.

There were 20 people in his team, the weakest one at level 20. In contrast, the average level in this place was below the village level cap, let alone the town-level wars.

He clicked his body as he prepared for a fight against the duo, but also looking at the state of the enemies. "Be efficient!" he yelled. "Target those who are already tired!"

It had only been a few minutes since the flare was shot, but he could already see the exhausted states of the Alterran, particularly the weaker ones. Although they had yet to see serious injuries thanks to their equipment, it wouldn't be able to stop the reduction of their Spirits.

Obviously, as soon as their cover broke, these people went all out.

At this, some of Hunt's people separated from the others, teaming up with Feller's people who were about to fall as well. They weren't there to help of course, but rather to take advantage of the Alterrans who had been fighting against them during this time.

They specifically targeted Joe and Lee, who were already gasping for air and a little shaky. Their earlier fight had taken a toll on them, but they refused to run while they could still fight.

Their equipment already showed some cracks after a few minutes of direct hits from the strong people, and a shot from others would be too dangerous for them.

The people who jumped at the chance of harvesting other people's prey were, interestingly, those who had just landed level 20. They were the weakest in their group and had a lot to prove, after all.

Anyway, they lunged forward with weapons raised, confident that they'd get at least a few kills in here!

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Two deadly arrows appeared at hit them smack on the neck. They gasped. Not dead, but if they weren't healed soon, they would be!

The nearby teammates gaped in surprise, looking around the open field that didn't seem to have archers other than the sentries. Not to mention, this damage was superior to what a Level 5 sentry could do!

Where did that come from!?
