Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 115: First Destination
Chapter 115: First Destination
On the other hand, the military in City A was busy rescuing citizens trapped in their homes, feeling overwhelmed by the scale of the disaster caused by the typhoon and fog.
Despite the challenges, they remained steadfast in their commitment, tirelessly working to help those in need.
In the meeting room, the generals exchanged concerned glances as they discussed the situation and how to use their resources effectively.
General Kaiser stood before the officers, warning them that the disaster would last longer than they expected.
Meanwhile, Brother Elias quietly observed the other officers, assessing their trustworthiness and whether they could be relied upon in this critical situation.
"Do you believe me now?" General Kaiser asked, glancing around the room.
"Yes, the typhoon was worse than we expected. Thanks to your warning, we have hoarded a lot of essential supplies. But if what you’re saying is true, won’t it lead to even more chaos?" a general replied.
"I don’t want to scare you, but what we’re facing is just the beginning. Much worse is coming in the next few months," General Kaiser warned.
"General Kaiser, I don’t want to doubt you, but where is this information coming from?" another general asked.
"What I can tell you is that we in the Department of Unnatural Phenomena have our own sources. It’s up to you to believe it or not," Kaiser replied.
The generals decided not to press further, knowing that everyone had their own secrets.
However, they were genuinely interested in involving the DUP in the military’s forces. With their skills and expertise, they would be a valuable asset in the upcoming disasters.
"Call the logistics department. It’s time to gather more essential supplies; everyone needs to collect as much as we can," General Reid commanded.
The generals then discussed creating a makeshift base and opening a military section to assist more citizens.
Brother Elias could see that the generals were dedicated to their work. They truly wanted to save every citizen, but the natural disaster left them feeling helpless.
As they were deep in discussion, a sudden knock interrupted them.
"Sir, there’s an urgent call from the marine institute."
"What happened?" General Reid asked.
"They need an immediate rescue operation. I’m afraid the building might be flooded soon."
Another discussion began about who would rescue the officials at the marine institute.
"Let us do it. The DUP will handle the rescue," Brother Elias said.
General Kaiser was taken aback, looking at Brother Elias with a questioning expression. He didn’t understand why Brother Elias would volunteer for this task, but he remained silent, trusting this abbot.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," Brother Elias replied calmly.
The generals looked at the abbot with curiosity. He was always by General Kaiser’s side, listening attentively but rarely speaking.
However, since he was backed by General Kaiser, they agreed and provided the information.
Soon, the meeting adjourned. Everyone hurriedly left the room to instruct their own teams.
Inside their unit, General Kaiser quickly asked Brother Elias for his decision.
"What’s going on?"
"The heavens have given me a vision again. This time, I saw a marine institute and a woman. The heavens indicated that the woman should be eradicated."
"You mean the brat’s wife?"
"Yes, if I’m not mistaken." Brother Elias pondered, for the heavens were adamant to eradicate her, and continued.
"If the heavens are pointing to her, then we will meet her soon."
"Okay, let’s prepare then."
Meanwhile, in the Blackshear hotel, the Smith family was having a hard time finding food supplies.
The hotel had stopped providing meals some time ago, making survival increasingly difficult.
Going outside to search for food was also not an option; they were too afraid to venture out in the midst of the typhoon.
In their desperation, they attempted to integrate themselves into the Heather family, hoping to gain some benefits.
Trixie agreed to help them, but in exchange, they would have to provide information about Elena and her current whereabouts.
They nodded excitedly, believing they could easily trick and manipulate Elena, but she had changed and became much more difficult to handle.
Uncle William was frustrated that Elena had deceived them, so they had to endure constant scoldings from Trixie for their foolishness.
"You said that woman was at your grandfather’s mansion. Why isn’t she there?" Trixie asked, her tone laced with annoyance.
"That’s what my cousin told us," Vivian replied weakly.
"And you didn’t even bother to verify if what she said is true or not, you idiot."
Vivian fell silent, feeling ashamed for being reprimanded in front of her fiancé. She wanted to protest, but Trixie was the one providing them with food supplies.
Marc simply watched, finding Vivian uninteresting. He wanted to get closer to the young miss of the Heather family, but she was so difficult and looked down on him.
"Maybe they’re at their apartment?" he suggested.
"Are you asking me? If you’re not sure, don’t waste my time."
Troy, unable to hold back any longer, interjected, "Enough. Our mission is to get into the Military of City A, not chase after that woman. Stop wasting our resources."
"Heh, look who’s talking. Since you let me use your team, you agreed to help find her, so stop being so self-righteous. And why didn’t you ask Grandpa about the typhoon?"
"He said it would hit next month, but it arrived early."
"So, what do we do now?" Trixied asked, regretting not listening to her grandpa.
"Once the rescue team arrives, we’ll leave with them and head to the military evacuation centre. The real question is whether we’ll still be alive. The water level is rising rapidly, and we can no longer reach Grandpa since the signal is down. Our only option is to use the military satellite phone."
"I told you we should have gone back to City D when we saw the tornado in City B. My gut feelings warned me something was off, but your bravado to prove yourself to Grandpa has put us in this mess," Trixie snapped, thinking about the rising water level.
"Did I ask you to join us? You were the one who threatened us! Now that we’re in this situation, you’re blaming me? Trixie, grow up. We can’t always cater to your needs."
"Shut up!"
The argument escalated, and both felt a surge of resentment. Despite their differences, they were united by a common goal: to prove themselves.

Elena waited two more days to see changes in their surroundings.
The fog still lingered, but the wind had lessened somehow. While the rain continued to fall steadily, the overall situation indicated that the typhoon had eased significantly, making it safer to venture outside.
"Wife, let’s go visit the bank. The typhoon has eased a lot this time," Ethan suggested, glancing out at the balcony.
Elena agreed. She was worried that the antiques might be soaked and damaged by the flood if they waited too long.
They had planned this trip and were simply waiting for the right moment.
"Okay, let’s notify Oslo and Lydia; they’ll join us later," Elena informed him.
"Lydia?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"Well, she’s worried about her parents. Since we’re going to the museum later, we can also check the situation at the marine institute."
"I’ll listen to wife then," Ethan agreed with a smile.
Elena quickly relayed the plan to Oslo and Lydia while Ethan readied the motorboat for use.
Afterwards, they donned their gear and headed downstairs.
Outside, the residents were bustling with activities. Knowing the typhoon had eased considerably, they decided to leave the building, eager to reach the evacuation centre as soon as possible.
Elena and the others watched from a distance as the residents departed, their expressions a blend of hope and anxiety.
As they stood there, Elena’s mind drifted back to her past life.
She recalled a similar situation when residents left one by one, only to return three days later due to overcrowding at the evacuation centre.
Not to mention food and water shortage, the sanitation issues also arose, and despite government management, chaos erupted daily as people fought for limited space.
Constant robberies and brawls in the corridors created a tense and noisy atmosphere, filled with desperation.
She was interrupted by her husband, who took her hands and gestured for her to start moving.
As the corridor finally emptied, they quickly moved to find the window on the eighth floor.
Elena noticed the piles of garbage and waste, and the smell became unbearable. She was stunned, not by the filth, but by her own reaction—she almost vomited.
She was used to such scenarios, so why did her body react so differently this time?
’Maybe my young body isn’t accustomed to it yet,’ Elena brushed it off, believing it was a normal reaction for her young body.
Meanwhile, Lydia couldn’t hold back any longer and vomited on the other side.
"Are you okay?" Oslo asked, handing her a bunch of tissues and a bottle of water.
"I’m fine. Just not used to the smell," Lydia replied, wiping her mouth and taking a deep breath, using a spritz of perfume to ease the unpleasant odor.
Seeing that she was fine, Oslo didn’t press further.
He then moved first, crawling toward the window. Once there, he retrieved the motorboat and carefully climbed onto it.
The water was turbulent, so he steadied the boat before helping the others.
When everyone was on board, Oslo quickly started the engine and steered the motorboat toward their first destination: the wealthy bank of City A.
