Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 165: Temperature drop again
Chapter 165: Temperature drop again
It was almost evening by the time they finished attending the customers.
They hadn’t expected the residents from the nearby building to hear the news of their opening and flock to the shop, making it much busier than they had anticipated.
The extreme cold might have instilled fear in their hearts, but the thought of going hungry pushed them to brave the biting weather and make their way to the shop.
While some felt disappointment at the shop’s refusal to accept money, they still chose to honor the rules, fully aware that the residents would cast threatening glares at anyone who dared to provoke the shop.
However, some were foolish enough to challenge the shop’s authority.
But before they could cause any trouble, Ethan swiftly intervened, kicking them out of the shop.
The residents also joined together to drive out the troublemakers.
Afraid that if the shop became frustrated with the troublemakers’ actions, they might leave for good.
The thought of losing their supplier filled them with dread, and they were determined never to return to the days of going without food again.
After the residents left, Elena began to examine the jade and antiques they had collected that day.
"Look at these jade and antiques! They’re stunning. The quality is top-notch according to the Golden Tablet. But the downside is that since the Golden Tablet tiered up, the Reserve Energy Tab now consumes a lot more spiritual energy to sustain Paradise," Elena sighed.
Although she enjoyed the benefits of the upgraded Golden Tablet, it came at a cost.
To sustain space operations, more items imbued with spiritual energy are needed this time.
"Use the jades and antiques as you see fit; there’s no need to worry. As long as they serve their purpose, that’s good enough. Just save the things you like," Ethan replied.
He also took a moment to admire the beautiful jades, selecting a few for his baby girl. She might enjoy them later.
"Alright," Elena agreed, then summoned the Golden Tablet to check the status of the Reserve Energy Tab. freёnovelkiss.com
She noticed it had decreased by 10% today, and without hesitation, she quickly used some jades to restore it to 100%.
Afterwards, Elena stored the shop equipment in her space, while the others focused on returning the unit to its original design.
Just as they were about to enter the space, Elena paused, a thoughtful expression crossing her face.
"Wife?" Ethan asked, sensing her hesitation.
"If we enter Paradise and later exit into Grandpa Caldwell, then I won’t be able to exit from this location anymore. We need someone to stay here as an entrance point; otherwise, you’ll have to glide back to this building," she explained.
Ethan nodded in agreement, considering the hassle of going back and forth.
"Then one of us should stay here," he suggested, ensuring easy access to this building.
"No, staying here alone without knowing anyone would be a hassle. Let the kids serve as our entrance point for now while we look for a suitable resident. I’ll modify their marks so they can stay in Paradise longer and won’t be able to exit on their own. It could be dangerous if they leave Paradise and find themselves here alone," Elena explained, her voice steady as she outlined her plan.
Although allowing the kids to stay in the space beyond their five-hour limit would drain a significant amount of spiritual energy from the Reserve Energy Tab, she remained insistent.
She determined not to leave Dr. Paige, Daniel, and Andrei in the building without a proper plan.
"Alright, I’ll follow your lead. Who should we designate as our entrance point?" Ethan asked.
"Let Little Koby do it," she replied.
Ethan nodded, and soon Elena summoned Little Koby, who looked confused.
She smiled and pinched his cute, chubby face.
"Sis Ele?" he asked.
"Hey, Little Koby. How is your friend Little Erick doing now?" she inquired.
"Sleeping; he’s tired," Koby replied.
"Alright, let’s not disturb him for now," Elena said, thinking the boy might be worn out from everything happening around him.
Little Koby nodded in understanding.
With everything settled, they vanished and entered the space.
Elena then instructed Little Koby to stay inside and play with Poochi and the animals alongside Little Mia, explaining that he couldn’t leave the space and exit to Grandpa Caldwell’s unit for the time being.
They still needed his entrance point tomorrow to access Building A easily.
Afterwards, Elena then dragged the others along as she exited the space, appearing beside Grandpa Caldwell.
Inside the unit, they found everyone busy, with some preparing dinner.
"How is the situation outside?" Grandpa Caldwell asked, sighing in relief, noticing they seemed fine.
"There are a lot of criminals lurking around," Ethan replied, describing their encounter with the robbers and the gunfire exchanged with the criminals.
"This disaster really tests human morality, and with the authorities not functioning, it will be very hard to contain them."
Seeing the room fall silent with frustration, Elena quickly changed the topic.
"Alright, today we opened a branch of the Paradise shop. It was a success; we collected a lot of jade and antiques."
The mood lifted, and they began asking about the situation in the building.
Daniel shared how the residents united to repel the criminals who attempted to rob and raid them.
He recounted the overheard conversation from residents while preparing their orders earlier.
"It’s great they have someone to lead them."
"Yeah."
After updating them on the situation outside, they quickly sat down for dinner.
Tonight, they enjoyed beef stew, vegetable soup, creamy mashed potatoes, and warm bread or rice to combat the extreme cold.
"Wife, what do you want to eat?"
"Let me have beef stew," Elena replied.
"Okay, let me get some for you."
Everyone who heard their interaction smiled and continued to eat while chatting about trivial matters.
Afterward, they prepared to rest, knowing they would continue their tasks the next day.
However, by midnight, the temperature suddenly dropped again, plummeting to a chilling -40 degrees Celsius.
