Chapter 118: Finding A Soul

Atlas’s first days of life were a bit tiring for Astri since he would breastfeed during the night constantly. Having spouses that help effectively with cleaning and tucking the baby to sleep makes things way less stressful and makes everyone enjoy having children around.

Koa was learning from Astri how to cook some breakfast recipes, but all he wanted to do was hug her from behind. He turned out to be a very kind and mushy spouse, the kind that likes to be glued to her just like Zin and Lee.

"Do you think you can take the lead now?" She asks Koa about making pancakes.

"Yes! Let me do it." He nods.

"Great."

She stepped back, giving him space to work, and watched him for a few minutes. Satisfied that he was doing fine, she turned her attention to Claud and baby Atlas.

Claud, was cradling Atlas in his arms, gently rocking the baby as he hummed a soft lullaby. Astri approached them, a warm smile spreading across her face. "My handsome unicorns. How cute can you be?" she cooed, laying her head on Claud’s shoulder to better see Atlas.

"He feels when you’re around," Claud remarked, his eyes sparkling with love for both Astri and their son. "If you go further away, he gets impatient. I can’t judge him, though. I feel the same."

Their moment of tranquility was soon joined by Kai, Elias, and Yuki, Astri’s other children, who gathered around to spend time with their mother and baby brother. The family shared a bond that was deep and unbreakable, a connection that was both spiritual and emotional.

"Did you guys know that if it weren’t for father Claud, I wouldn’t be here? Mother was in a completely different world, and he found me," Astri shared with her children, a hint of wonder in her voice.

’Really? But how could you find her, dad?’ Elias asked, his young face filled with curiosity.

"Through her soul," Claud answered, his voice soft yet filled with a profound sense of truth.

’Her soul?’ Kai echoed, his expression one of confusion.

Claud nodded, his gaze thoughtful. "Souls are unique, and we will never find the same soul twice. There is only one Kai, one Elias, one Yuki, and one Atlas. Never again will be born a soul the same as yours. The same goes for your mother. Since I wasn’t finding her through her energy, I focused on searching for her soul and ended up finding her in another world."

Astri’s heart swelled with love and gratitude as she listened to Claud’s explanation. It reminded her of the mystical and mysterious ways of their world, where souls and energies intertwined in the tapestry of life.

’But how did you know it was mom? Did you meet her before?’ Kai asked, his young mind trying to grasp the concept.

Claud shook his head. "No, if I had, it wouldn’t have taken me so many years to find her. I just imagined Nature in a soul, and I found your mom."

The conversation lingered in the air as the family enjoyed their breakfast together. Afterward, Astri retreated to her workshop, her mind still pondering Claud’s words about souls. She had been planning to design a new castle, a smaller one near the sea for her sea spouses to enjoy. However, the conversation with Claud inspired her to try something different.

She decided to meditate, focusing on finding a specific soul. Nature guided her thoughts, taking her far away in their world, to a place cold and snowy, reminiscent of Alaska in its harshest winter. Astri was determined, even as the shock of the unfamiliar landscape threatened to break her concentration.

There, amidst the vast expanse of snow, she saw a magnificent silver wolf, its movements graceful and purposeful. The wolf seemed to be searching for something, running tirelessly, stopping only to catch its breath. Astri watched in awe as the snow around the wolf began to swirl, forming an igloo.

Stepping closer, she saw the wolf transform, revealing a man with brownish skin and dark gray hair that fell just below his shoulders. His face, when she finally saw it, struck her with a shock of recognition.

He senses that someone is near, that there’s someone at the door but he doesn’t see anyone. Her eyes start to fill up with tears, she gets closer to him and he feels that something is coming, but doesn’t feel threatened.

She tries to touch his face, but her hands go through him, so she focuses on seeing the details of his face.

"Dieg.. Is that you?"

He gets shocked hearing that voice.

"Astri.. Astri?" He asks.

"Dieg! It’s really you?" She cries.

"Astri... I’m so happy to hear your voice again.. You found me.." He says emotional too.

"But.. But how? I saw those Monsters killing you." She cries.

"I know.. I stayed in a dark place for a long time, but everything I thought about was you. I wanted to make sure I could protect you somehow, I felt you were in a very cold place, and when I woke up I was here. And I had these powers." He tells.

He sighs trying to move his arms, trying to try to touch her, but nothing happens.

"I want to see you.. To touch you.." He cries.

"Me too.. You’re so far from us.. Oh Dieg, I miss you so much." She cries.

Her crying made her other spouses hear her, so they ran to check what was happening. Claud reads her mind and is more than shocked, he is overwhelmed by the revelation.

"That’s... Impossible." Claud says in shock.

"What is it, Claud? What’s happening?" Cyprian asks.

"It’s Dieg.. She found Dieg. He’s alive."

"What..." Everyone is shocked, not believing it.

"But, his corpse is here. He was buried here. How is that possible?"

"He has powers.. Did Nature make him reborn somewhere else?" Claud is talking more to himself.

Even the ones that didn’t meet Dieg personally knew who he was. Astri never forgot about him, she cherished his memories and always talked to him when she visited his grave. But they would never imagine he was alive somewhere else.

"Dieg.. Where were you going?" She asks him, after calming down a bit.

"I was looking after you. But since I don’t have our spousal mark anymore, I can’t sense where you are. I have these powers to create and control ice and snow, but I can’t find you. I don’t even know the reason I have these powers now." Dieg answers.

She explains about who she is and what discovered after his death. She says that Nature was the one who reborn him with those powers and that probably Nature has a reason for that, but she doesn’t know the full reason yet.

Everyone is touching her now, seeing Dieg, and still in shock to see someone coming back from the dead.

"We will find a way to bring you at least closer to us. You’re very far, you will take thousands of days to arrive here even if I tell you the direction." She says.

"All right.." Dieg nods.

"I will keep in touch. I can’t stay longer because it’s very tiring. The closer you get, the less tiring it is to keep our connection." She tells.

"Is Wayde and Lee with you?" He asks.

"Yes. They’re here with me, looking at you through my eyes."

"It’s like I’m seeing a dead male that is very much alive. It’s shocking and amazing at the same time." Lee says.

Dieg chuckles.

"It’s good to see you again, cub." Wayde answers.

"You wish I was dead, don’t you? You will have to share her with me not too long from now." Dieg speaks.

"Not only with us. With a snake, a dragon, a unicorn, a whale, a lion, and a merman too." Lee says.

"Wow.. Running by myself made me not know how long it passed since I was killed."

"I had a litter. Two males and a female." Wayde says.

"I’m Claud, a unicorn. I had one male too." Claud answers.

"Ah... Astri pregnant must be the most beautiful thing in this world." Dieg says with an emotional smile.

"You have no idea." Lee confirms.

"All right. Before I lose the connection. Claud has similar powers as me, so me and him will be working together to bring you here faster. Please, stay safe." Astri says.

"I will. You too. I miss you.. Please don’t take long to talk to me." Dieg speaks.

"Sure." She smiles, emotional too.

"Follow the direction of where the sun rises. It’s the direction we are. As closer to us, easier will be for me to bring you here." Claud says.

"It’s good to have a direction now." Died smiles. "I love you, Astri. I always loved you."

"Me too, love. Always."

She loses all her strength and Claud holds her before she faints. He carries her to their bed and lies her down to rest.

"Is she all right?" Everyone asks worried.

"Yes, she’s just tired. He was very far from here. He would take at least 5 trips to Aquaterra to arrive here on his own, for you to have an idea. Let her rest. We need to prepare for this. I’ll need her help to make a portal so far away. What I need to understand now is how and why he was reborn and also has powers of Nature." Claud says deep in thought.
