Building The Strongest Family-Chapter 31: Ugly Faces
Chapter 31: Ugly Faces
"Suspect? Seriously?"
Arthur's expression remained stoic, but his eyes betrayed a whirlwind of shock and disbelief as he glanced at Chief Tom and Jessica.
The tension in the room was palpable, mirrored by the astonished faces of Julian and the others who had accompanied Arthur to the living room.
"Chief Tom, what makes you think I'm a suspect? When the incident occurred, I was right here in my study, never left this mansion! You can check the surveillance cameras or ask my family; I haven't gone anywhere since yesterday. So how can you label me a suspect?" Arthur's voice was steady but laced with frustration.
"Mr. Arthur, whether you like it or not, you are a suspect," Jessica interjected coldly, her gaze piercing through him, though a hint of mockery flickered in her eyes. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Arthur narrowed his eyes dangerously at her before turning back to Chief Tom. "You'd better have some evidence to back up your claims or else I won't be going anywhere."
Chief Tom's expression hardened slightly as he replied, "You need to come with us."
"Is this how your police operate? Just barging into someone's home and throwing around accusations without any proof?" Julian stepped forward, visibly upset.
"Mr. Arthur, we believe you have something to do with the deaths of the Sterling Family," Jessica stated impatiently.
"And how exactly do you know that?" Arthur shot back coldly, an icy glint flashing in his eyes.
"Because we know that the Sterling Family was targeting yo....," Jessica began angrily but suddenly halted mid-sentence, covering her mouth as she turned toward Chief Tom with an apologetic look.
"What did you just say?" Arthur's face darkened as he processed her words.
Julian and the others exchanged glances; as their expressions changed drastically their eyes blazed with fury by what they had just heard.
"So you already knew about my parents' deaths? About all those assassination attempts on me and my family? You knew it was the Sterlings behind it all!"
His voice trembled with barely contained rage as he continued. "I should have known." He glared at both Jessica and Chief Tom.
"You were aware of who killed my brother and sister-in-law yet did nothing while they continued to target my family! But now that they're dead, you rush here with your self-righteous faces to arrest my nephew? Motherfucker is this how your police work?" Julian's voice rose in anger until he nearly roared at Chief Tom.
The chief frowned back at Julian with a chilling gaze. "Mr. Osborn, watch your tone; I am the Chief of Police in Neo-Luminara."
"Fuck your title! If it weren't for your badge, I would've punched you right now!" Julian yelled as Nathaniel and Richard held him back from lunging at Chief Tom.
"Brother, calm down! You might get into trouble for this," Nathaniel cautioned.
The group was seething with anger at the shocking revelation, but they knew they had to keep their cool and not make things worse.
"Mr. Arthur, are you coming with us to the station or not?" Jessica asked, taking a deep breath to steady herself.
Arthur exploded in rage, "Do you really think I'm an easy target? What's wrong with your head?is your head full of shit? Did all your brains and intelligence grow on a breast? I'm furious right now! When the Sterlings killed my parents, you knew it was them! Why didn't you arrest them then? My entire family was in danger! Now I understand why it took so long for you guys to respond when I faced an assassination attempt. I even suspect that you're in cahoots with the Sterling Family!" Spittle flew from his mouth as he raged.
Jessica and Chief Tom exchanged alarmed glances; their expressions shifted drastically.
"Mr. Arthur, do you realize you're falsely accusing a police officer?" Chief Tom said through gritted teeth.
"Oh, I'm the one wrongly accusing a police officer? Look who's talking!" Arthur shot back sarcastically.
"When you showed up, what did you say? That I was a suspect without any real evidence! Screw all of you!"
He turned his fury toward Jessica. "Listen here, you stupid bitch, looking like an undeveloped sperm cell, don't speak to me like that; it makes me want to slap you! Go crawl back into whatever hole you came from, your mother's womb or some godforsaken place, and listen closely, Chief Tom: just because my Osborn family has fallen doesn't mean you can treat us like dirt. Unless you find actual evidence linking me to the Sterlings' deaths, I won't follow your orders to the station. Otherwise, I'll see you in court! Now get out of my house before I throw both of you out myself, I don't care if you're the Chief of Police or just a pack of lackeys!" His face radiated an icy fury as he cursed at both Chief Tom and Jessica.
Their faces flushed red with embarrassment and anger; they looked like monkeys caught off guard as they glared at him.
Jessica's cheeks burned with humiliation; she had never been insulted like this before, not even by her own parents.
If looks could kill, Arthur would have dropped dead countless times over by now.
But he remained indifferent to their silent wrath.
"Let's go," Chief Tom finally said after taking a deep breath to regain his composure before walking away.
Jessica shot one last furious glare at Arthur before following him out of the mansion.
-----
Once outside, Jessica turned apologetically to Chief Tom. "I'm really sorry; it's just that every time I see him, I want to punch him in the face."
"It's okay; it's not your fault," Chief Tom replied while shaking his head.
"So, what do we do now?"Jessica asked, taking a deep breath as she braced herself for the next steps.
Chief Tom ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident in his voice. "We need to find evidence that Arthur was involved in the incident. What surprised me most is how calm and cunning he was during our encounter. I honestly thought that because of our identities and applying a little pressure would make him crack, but I couldn't have been more wrong."**
Jessica frowned, her reluctance palpable. "So we just leave him like that?"
"Who said anything about leaving him be?" Chief Tom replied, waving his phone in front of her with a glimmer of hope.
"Wait...did you record everything he said to us? Including the insults?" Jessica's eyes lit up with excitement as she realized the potential.
"Yes! And you know the consequences for insulting a police officer, especially the Chief,"
Chief Tom declared confidently. "With a little tweaking, we can settle this once and for all."
He pressed play on the recording, but nothing happened.
He pressed again; still silence filled the air. Leaning closer, he discovered that the recording had vanished without a trace.
Chief Tom's expression darkened."Damn it!"he cursed under his breath.
Jessica looked at him in confusion."Chief, what's wrong?"
"The recording has been deleted," he said gloomily.
Her eyes widened in shock."What?!"
Tom narrowed his gaze coldly."Looks like I underestimated Arthur far too much."
With determination etched on his face, he turned away and strode off, prompting Jessica to quickly follow suit.
-----
Meanwhile, Arthur stood calmly as Margaret voiced her concerns gently. "Aren't you worried about getting into trouble for insulting them like that?"
Arthur smirked and shook his head dismissively."Nope."
Emily chuckled bitterly but couldn't hide her anger and resentment as she added,"I never expected the police to side with the Sterling Family all along, treating us like fools."
Ashley chimed in with a smile, relieved yet cautious: "At least now that the Sterling Family is gone, we can finally relax a bit."
As they reflected on their past struggles against the Sterling Family, an array of emotions washed over them, but one thing was clear: they were no longer in danger…at least for now.
"Alright everyone let's and continue our breakfast," Arthur said cheerfully as he led them back to the dining table for breakfast.
-----
In Arthur's study room later on, he looked at Evolon's blue face intently. "Are you sure everything has been deleted?"
Evolon declared confidently. "Affirmative! Everything has been wiped clean, every word you spoke in the living room, every trace of your insults and curses directed at the Chief of Police, it's all gone. As long as I exist in this digital realm, no one on this planet will ever uncover a single thing."
Arthur nodded, a satisfied grin spreading across his face.
Of course, he wasn't naive enough to hurl insults directly at the Chief without taking precautions first.
He had Evolon handle the cleanup, ensuring that any connection to those heated words was erased before it could come back to haunt him.
"Master I've already hacked into the police security system and into their data base and obtain the information you want" Evolon said ad it displayed the information on the side of the screen.
