Claimed By A Dragon Prince-Chapter 16: Meeting Her Mother
Chapter 16: Meeting Her Mother
Lily felt her whole world start to crumble when the redhead woman said she was Dimitri’s fiance. She tried to brace herself knowing it was always a possibility, but her heart still felt like it was breaking. Trying to clear her head she practically ran to the dragon king’s office almost avoiding him.
Lily looked at his face when he pulled her back knowing her feelings were showing on her face. Reminding him of work she walked in faking the smile she gave her professor. She explained how the prince and her met the king and Prof. Magnus listened to Lily shocked by her words.
However, when Dimitri spoke up about making her part of the family Lily’s mind started to spin. "Are you telling me that...." "Yes, Father I am. She is my soon-to-be mate." Lily’s head was getting lighter as her ears began to ring. Her vision finally went black as she passed out from the news.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clouds floated everywhere as she walked in nothingness. Lily felt no pain, no rush to be somewhere just peace. A light brightly showed through the clouds revealing a balcony with a beautiful woman sitting on a bench looking away from Lily with hair just like hers. The woman turned her head and Lily knew who she was. "My Goddess! What...?" The Moon Goddess looked at her daughter smiling then standing and walking over to her.
"I know this must seem strange to you. I have done a poor job of keeping you safe. That family didn’t do the job they were tasked with, but I could not bring you back." The Goddess spoke as if Lily was important to her. "I don’t understand. Why are you saying this? Why am I here?" The Goddess took her hands holding them tight as she took a breath to explain. "You are my daughter."
Lily was shocked, to say the least since she remembered her mother’s face from when she was a child. "That’s impossible. My parents abandoned me as a small child. I still remember them leaving me on the servant’s steps of the Wolf Clan. Are you telling me they weren’t my actual parents?"
The Goddess pulled her to sit as she explained. "Yes, my dear. They were supposed to protect you until you came of age, but when I checked in to come and get you the pack grounds were destroyed. I am only allowed to leave the heavenly realm once every 25 years, and my window is approaching soon."
Lily listened to her mother hearing how her home before she had been abandoned was no more. Still, she was giving her an opportunity to come back to her true home, a place she didn’t even know was an option. Looking out beyond the balcony Lily saw a majestic sight of utopia birds flying in harmony with the forest and lands living as one. No war, no suffering.
Lily thought of Dimitri at that moment wondering if he truly wanted her or if it was to strengthen his claim for crown prince. "How long before you can come to get me?" Lily wanted to know her time frame so she could decide what she wanted.
The Goddess could see her daughter and many things on her mind but still gave her an honest answer. "You have until the winter solstice on the final day of the Wolf moon. You have time so make sure this is what you want because I do so what you here with me."
Standing they embrace for the first time since she left her with those people all those years ago. "Can you tell me why you had to leave me with that couple?" The Goddess smiled knowing this explanation would be the hardest for her to hear. "Why don’t we save it for the next time we meet? A connection was made when you came here so when you have some time come back. Your prince is very worried for you."
Lily looked at her mother surprised. "How did...?" She tried to ask as the scene in front of her faded into clouds then darkness once again.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coming to her senses she could see she was in her room next to Dimitri’s lying in a bed. Dimitri was sitting in a chair next to the bed, a look of worry on his face while his eyes were closed. He held her hand his grip a little tight as she squeezed it. His head shot up seeing her eyes opened.
"How are you?" Dimitri felt her forehead then her neck as she smiled at him. "I’m okay. What happened?" Her mind was a little fuzzy about the details before her world blacked out. "We were in my father’s office discussing the dragon moss issue when I turned to see you fall to the floor. Are you sure your well?" He seemed more concerned then before.
"Yes, I remember. Your father questioned my loyalty when you said.." The words hit her again still shocking since she never thought to hear them. Dimitri looked into her eyes seeing the confusing and uncertainty in them. Lifting up sitting on the bed with her, Dimitri traps her between his arms so she could not hide her expression.
"I said you are my soon-to-be mate. And I meant it." Lily could not hide the shocked look she had hearing him confirm his words. "What...? How? Wait, do I get a say in this?" Not knowing how to take his words she just sat there waiting for his answer.
Dimitri smirked seeing her mind running faster then she could process. "Yes, of course you do, but from the way we have been engaging with each other I didn’t see you saying no." Lily was about to say something when she thought better shaking her head agreeing with him. "Your not wrong."
"Are you saying yes?" Dimitri always wanted a clear answer from her needing to hear it from her. Leaning forward inches from his lips she whispers on his lips. "Yes." He leans the last inch in capturing her lips in a passionate kiss setting their world on fire.
