Chapter 67: 100 Year Auction 2

The final winners of the bids were as follows:

Vritu Enterprises - 23.4 billion Essence Coins

Itinerati Corp - 23.3 billion Essence Coins

Unylis Group - 23.27 billion Essence Coins

Wish Network - 23.24 billion Essence Coins

Hiveshare - 23.1 billion Essence Coins

Trust and Trades - 22.8 billion Essence Coins

Draco Conglomerate - 22 billion Essence Coins

Barter Lords - 3.12 million Essence Coins

As the bidding was hidden and the final awards were given based on the final rank, everyone was competing with each other to be within the brackets of their various desired items. This naturally pushed the price higher, reaching the limit that the various factions were willing to tolerate, which was a very predatory practice that maximized earnings.

Looking at how much the human race would have earned for selling their public resources and how much they made from this bidding, Felicia and Xela were greatly shaken. They could only glance at Damon blankly with waves in their hearts, understanding that this young man from the third world was playing with the big leagues that could shatter their planet in one blow.

And he was winning.

Damon, though, was frowning slightly as the bidding was not as intense as he hoped, expecting at least a few hundred billion per bid for the top seven factions. However, he quickly identified the problem, which was the Draco Conglomerate!

The company tied to the Dragon race had shown little interest in winning the bid at all, making negligible effort overall. This was a problem since Damon expected them to win first place as their wealth was likely the greatest of the seven factions, given that the Dragons controlled the trade of Chaos Essence for Worldly Essence and Essence Coins.

Damon glanced towards Bertrand in the audience seats and saw the fellow seated with his scaly cheek resting against his fist, smiling proudly with a hint of mockery and disdain towards Damon, as if he could tell that the young man was looking at him.

Seeing this, Damon’s frown subsided as he shook his head. "The Dragon race is finished." frёeωebɳovel.com

His words were only heard by Felicia and Xela, who were confused as to how this had any bearing on the current situation, but any other species listening would think Damon was a fool. Meanwhile, the young man himself felt as if he was looking at the beginning of the end for the Dragon race.

Damon did not bother to think about this any further. It was a lot less than he expected, but it was still more than enough to facilitate the next stage of his plans and push the human race’s growth to the maximum level.

Talia Vritu, Carzan, and Garton had differing expressions as they obtained their Diamond Tier Licenses. Talia seemed nonchalant, as if having expected this, Carzan seemed intrigued, flipping the virtual card back and forth to inspect it, while Garton wore a scowl, tossing the card into his inventory while folding his arms.

Feena, Sinokin, Godin, and Bertrand took their Platinum-Tier Licenses and kept them, seeming to have expected their loss. Feena was the most unhappy since Garton only won by a little bit, but she did not complain externally.

Many parties began to chat, expecting the auction to come to an end now that the main event was over. Even though it was a lackluster auction with only one item up, the sheer trade volume alone was something that would be spoken of for years to come.

However, the crowd became silent when they saw what was being offered next.

1,000 units of Worldly Essence!

Following the description of this item, it was Worldly Essence produced through a special ability that could be absorbed by any being, regardless of initiation into Essence or not, which would not only grant initiation, but can also be used to level up.

Naturally, this revelation created the exact reaction Damon expected and slightly more. The faces of the CEOs changed greatly, realizing this huge opportunity that was presented before them.

Of course, while the rest were enthusiastic, Bertrand was pale and furious, standing up with clenched fists. One might say that the supplier of Worldly Essence was the Universe Will, but honestly, such a thing was in the Dragon race’s hands.

A unit of Chaos Essence was exchanged for a unit of Worldly Essence, which was exchanged for one Essence Coin. Most of the races did not know that Worldly Essence was actually fixed, just like Essence Coins, only able to grow with a fresh injection of Chaos Essence.

Since Worldly Essence was typically non-transferable, it was supposed to have been each person submitting their Chaos Essence for Worldly Essence, but the Dragon race usurped that process. So through a bit of clever play, they paid everyone in slightly fewer Essence Coins than the Chaos Essence was worth.

Then they pocketed the entirety of the Worldly Essence gained. Otherwise, how would Dragon King Alexander be able to reach a whopping level 150?

But now...!!

Bertrand’s expression was ugly, and a hint of malevolence birthed in his heart. From the moment he saw Damon and interacted with him, he had a sinking feeling in his heart that this ambitious human race would sooner or later be a thorn in their sides.

However, he did not expect it to be so soon!

Bertrand could only sit down with a terrible complexion because he realized that there was nothing he could do. The human race was currently the star of the universe, and everyone wanted a piece of them, so no one would tolerate another race trying to annihilate them, especially the Universe Will.

Not to mention that the human race, through Damon’s clever manipulation, was utterly unfazed by any method the Dragon race could employ to harm them. Bertrand didn’t see it at the time, because he did not care, but he now understood why Garton, who also had hostile intentions, was scowling every day.

Meanwhile, while this fellow was daydreaming, the bidding had already begun. As to whether what Damon offered was real or not, many did not doubt it. The reputation of a top ten race was something precious, and Damon, given his clever operations so far, would not make such a mistake.

Besides, they were willing to pay money to find out if this was real because if it was...!

The bidding was for the entire 1,000 units at once, so there was only going to be one winner. Unsurprisingly, it was Draco Conglomerate, with Bertrand, who had venomous and bloodshot eyes, aiming to deny the universe access to this resource for as long as he could.

They bid a crazy 100 million Essence Coins, which left the other factions dumbstruck. First of all, how do you have so much liquid cash to blow, and second of all, why splurge so much when the second highest bid was around 2 million Essence Coins at best?

However, Damon smiled knowingly towards Bertrand. When he first heard about the need to sell Chaos Essence to the Dragons by law, the young man immediately realized that there must be some hidden benefit that the other races probably had some inkling of, but they likely felt that it was a worthy sacrifice in order to placate this arrogant species.

So in order to protect that interest, Bertrand would definitely go all out to suppress any potential issues before they sprung up.

After the payment was made, Damon released the orb of Worldly Essence, purposefully letting it travel in front of the entire crowd, allowing them to scan it for verification before it floated up to Bertrand. For that matter, the Dragon was furious to his snout by this behavior, almost unleashing a world-ending attack to vent his fury.

However, Bertrand realized that he had underestimated the hatefulness of the human race when he saw the next item on bid, which was Worldly Essence again! This time, it was an infusion of Worldly Essence from another ability that generated it, which could be freely transferred at will.

Bertrand could only bite the bullet and smash down another 100 million to deter other bidders, securing this infusion of Worldly Essence as well. Since Felicia could only pass it over by touch at the current level, an exchange was scheduled to facilitate the trade.

There was a spell of silence as everyone else sensed the strange mood in the room, many glancing at Bertrand askance, whose chest was heaving with anger, his bloodshot eyes roving the crowd to look for anyone who dared to provoke him so he could use them as an example.

Many turned away quickly, not daring to stand out at this moment, while the other powerhouses close enough to the dragon race in terms of rank and power did not care, openly glancing at the fellow with amusement and schadenfreude.

Still, they were quickly distracted by the new item that appeared on their displays, and reading through its details, the smiles of those who were amused froze, while the anger on Bertrand’s face faded greatly, replaced by dull shock.
