Chapter 68: 100 Year Auction - End

Resurrection!

In fact, one of the most discussed topics in the universe was who among the various factions would be able to contract the three known EX awakeners of the human race: Damon, Felicia, and Xela.

Even if they were EX ability users, they still needed money, right? The most efficient way to maximize one’s earnings was to join a corporation and use their various channels to utilize one’s skills to make the most with what they had to offer.

Most of the universe was split into three camps on this. One side felt that these special humans would eventually join one of the big factions and speculated on which one. Another side speculated that the so-far arrogant humans, who were handling things quite interestingly, might not join any faction and work as freelancers.

The final side believed that humans might even open a corporation of their own and peddle their business through it.

Whatever the choice, the fact was that with EX-level abilities, it would not be difficult for Damon and the others to make themselves well-known universe-wide, and this auction was an eye-opener in this regard.

When they awakened their abilities, only the name and grade were recorded in the system, not the details. So despite those who did their research knowing that Xela had an EX Divine Life ability, which hinted at healing, they never thought it could actually relate to resurrection!

Resurrection!

Even the Universe Will could not resurrect creatures above a certain level of power and especially not those who died in the Chaos Realm.

Xela had no such limitations!

At the F stage, she could heal 50 people to full health and resurrect one person per day!

If we were purely talking about who most companies would froth at the mouth to hire, it would be Xela, who was the only one who had this ability in the universe!

Do you know how much of a strategic resource her resurrection ability was?

The waves crashing through the hearts of all these business leaders and CEOs of the universe were extremely great. Garton’s eyes were bloodshot as he unleashed a heart-shaking roar, almost ripping off his clothes and going mad on the spot.

Despite his gaffe, no one looked at him with disdain, and even Bertrand gave Garton a look of deep pity and understanding. It was one thing to miss out on enslaving the human race due to their clever Prime Representative, as Garton would have had access to all this for free!

The worst part was that with the abilities of Damon, Felicia, and Xela, it was entirely possible for the human race to start an ability-hire company and even beat Unylis Group, led by Garton, down out of the top seven.

Ability hires worked by contracting those with abilities—or those without—and making them perform commissioned tasks in various places of the universe while utilizing their abilities.

So for example, if there was a civilization on a desert planet who wanted to create an oasis region, they would post the commission out in the IUAS, and an ability-hiring company like Unylis would look among its plentiful ranks and send someone with a nature-related power to encourage plant growth there.

Of course, there were other ability-hire companies who could also take this, or individual freelancers, but just like most service-related businesses, reputation was important.

Assuming you were the client, seeing a bunch of randoms versus the top company in the universe, who would you accept?

Here, the human race created two new sub-industries within ability hiring: the exchange of unique Worldly Essence and pinnacle healing as well as resurrection. These two were services that could not be offered previously.

Damon and Felicia’s powers did not conflict with many established systems, and even Godin of Trust and Trades was not worried because the amount Damon and Felicia generated was far too small to match the volume of trades he did through the VR Worldly Essence Transfer technique.

Not to mention that anyone would be a fool to buy the precious Worldly Essence produced by Damon and Felicia for consumption. If you broke 1000 units into 1 unit each, you could forcibly create a panel for 1000 individuals who hadn’t entered Essence with their real bodies to be able to level up.

After that, they could buy the Worldly Essence for growth from Godin to level up, which was far more efficient. In that light, Godin was the biggest benefactor because the volume of his business was about to explode, while it was the opposite for Garton.

Thinking like this, Godin’s eyes became bloodshot as he glanced at Talia Vritu with utter hatred. Back when Damon offered him one trillion to exclusively work as the agent of the human race, he was about to agree when this wretched knife-eared woman stood up and accepted Damon’s tyrannical terms.

If she hadn’t, the future of the Goblin race would be grand!

Talia Vritu noticed Godin’s unabashed hatred, and her lips curled downwards into a slight frown. She was not a foolish person, and especially since the elves loved to play politics in the IUAS, she understood what Godin was feeling and thinking at this point.

In truth, she might look down on the strength and ranking of the Goblin race, but definitely not their business acumen. To have herself and her race be absolutely hated by the goblins was not a good idea, especially for the business and political prospects.

Talia could only sigh internally because this was an unsolvable problem. There was nothing the elves could present, nor wanted to present, that could match what the goblins had lost, so this hatred would persist for as long as the goblins remembered this.

Realizing this, Talia Vritu’s feelings towards the human race were further complicated. Elves were a race that loved beauty and art, and the human race, as one of the few homo-aligned races, was the highest in this regard, far better than the Angels, Demons, and Nephilim, almost reaching the level of the Elves themselves.

This complexity in feeling was brought about by the revelation of Xela’s ability, and the consequences were far-reaching. But for now, the bidding was probably the fiercest. CEOs were bloodshot as they sold properties at market prices and liquidated assets on the spot just to gather funds for bidding—the fight was furious.

Even if they did not have loved ones they could use it on, this could be resold to a powerful faction or entity who was not present at this auction for a higher price. The value was limitless!

By the time the bidding came to an end, the final price for a single resurrection had soared to 2.2 billion Essence Coins, far more than Damon estimated, making his eyes flicker as he realized he had underestimated the value of Xela’s ability.

The auction finally came to an end as this was all Damon planned to offer for now. Felicia and Xela were spellbound in their seats by all that had happened, especially the volume of money that the human race now possessed.

They, more than those on the planet, understood the value of this money and the sheer things humanity could do with it, then raised their heads to glance at Damon, who stood up from his seat while straightening his tuxedo, smiling confidently like he had everything under control.

At that moment, the two young ladies couldn’t help but feel that the future of the human race was secure. With a leader like this, the future would be bright, so they subconsciously developed a stronger urge to preserve Damon as Prime Representative.

"Come on, I will escort you two in the process of exchanging the promised rewards for protection. Also, we have a big task ahead of us today," Damon spoke to the two, who were still dazzled by the figures they were seeing.

Snapping out of it, Felicia asked with a surprised expression, "Big task? Wasn’t the auction the only thing planned?"

Xela was also curious and glanced at Damon, wondering what this cunning fellow had in mind now and how he was going to trick the galactic overlords until they ripped their hair out.

If Damon knew that Xela saw him as the incarnation of Loki—who was her idol—he likely would feel exasperated.

Damon smiled. "Well, don’t forget the first promise the IUAS made to us upon inviting us to join them. We have been ranked as a 0.75 civilization in terms of grade, and they promised to provide us free information that would allow us to achieve civilization level 2."

Damon started walking out of the back room. "We have been busy with survival against the titans of the universe, not to mention that I had to run this auction to gather the funds we will use to buy the necessary materials and tools to implement this technology in human society, but now that everything has seemingly settled, it’s time for Earth to undergo its technological rebirth!"
