Veranta was confused.

And according to Veranta's observation, Lunaire didn't seem to realize she was being spied on, nor did she have the opportunity to inform Kanata.

Veranta didn't know how Lunaire had detected his presence, found his base, and timed her attack to coincide with the gathering of the three members of the 《Invisible Hand of God》 at this place.

Afterward, Noble used the 《Eye of Tiamat》 to gather information, but such a small coincidence was outside of Veranta’s observation.

Nobunaga was grinning from ear to ear as he stepped forward toward Lunaire.

However, Zero passed by his side from behind at that very moment.

「Uhm? So this fella can move on their own…」

Nobunaga looked at Zero’s back doubtfully while muttering those words.

Zero was rapidly closing in on Lunaire, but their stride suddenly turned in the middle.

They turned to the side, closing in rapidly toward the wall of the tower instead of approaching Lunaire.

「O-Oi, does this mean that Zero is ditching us!? Rather, do they even have emotions to begin with?」

Nobunaga retorted angrily while glaring at Zero's back.

Lunaire suddenly kicked the ground too, closing in on the wall right behind Zero.

Zero glanced casually at Lunaire behind them, but quickly looked to the front again.

「Time-Space Magic, 22nd Rank《Muse Garden》」

A high-pitched voice suddenly echoed from the draped cloth on Zero.

A magic circle deployed around him (Zero). [TN: Zero’s gender finally got revealed.]

Lunaire unleashed a sharp kick toward Zero.

The kick seemed to hit Zero’s head, but it passed through them as if they were made of air.

Lunaire spun once in the air due to the momentum of her kick before landing gracefully on the ground.

「… A space-time magic that nullifies physical contact… What a bothersome magic.」

Zero’s eyes locked for a moment with Lunaire before their body floated lightly in the air for a moment and then sunk into the ground.

They were obviously trying to escape by phasing through the wall.

Lunaire stretched her arm toward Zero.

A large, black arm resembling a mass of black mist extended and overlapped with her arm.

The huge black arm grabbed Zero’s abdomen like it was nothing.

Zero screamed.

The huge black arm still held Zero, swinging them twice, then thrice.

「GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!」

Zero raised a scream.

「Now choose. Either be slammed to the ground till you’re broken into tiny pieces… or phase through material and fall forever?」

The black arm rose high into the air and slammed Zero into the ground.

Zero canceled their time-space magic and slammed into the ground right after.

The force of the slam was so strong that it created a huge crater, sending tons of soil into the air along with a thunderous sound.

At the same time, the force also created huge, spiderweb-like cracks.

「Gi… GI, gi…」

Zero moaned weakly in pain.

They tried to lift their body but crumbled down immediately as if they had used up all their strength.

「That slam should’ve crushed you to pieces, but you seem to be more durable than I expected. I might’ve underestimated you a little bit.」

Lunaire spoke coldly.

「T-This can’t be… My Zero, my trump card is being toyed with by her!」

Veranta could only watch in shock.

The incident happened so fast and absurdly, leaving Veranta and Nobunaga unable to react in time and left to watch Zero being curb-stomped by Lunaire with dumbfounded faces.

Lunaire then looked at Zero, who was lying weakly beneath her feet.

A pale and slender arm peeked out from the edge of Zero’s robe.

Their skin was branded with tons of magic formulae.

The brand-like scars kept glowing with an ominous red color.

「This fella… is more like a powerful cursed object than a living creature. Are you the one who made this thing? Such tasteless hobbies.」

Lunaire cast a frigid gaze toward Veranta.

「… Well, I guess it’s somewhat better than me, who thought that returning from Hades would make my mother happy.」

Lunaire stepped forward, heading toward Veranta and Nobunaga.

「U-Urgh…!」

Seeing such overwhelming power, Veranta flinched.

「No need to take turns. Both of you can come together.」
