46 -46: Dilapidated Building_1

After a while, as Najia’s singing filled the air, everyone felt themselves gradually relaxing.

Cotton, cradled in Yanlan’s arms, happily wagged its tail.

Xiao Hei occasionally lifted its eyelids to sneak peeks at Najia, who was singing with closed eyes.

After some time, Najia’s singing slowly came to a halt.

Xiao Hei stood up and nuzzled Hong Zhi’s leg with its head.

Hong Zhi emerged from his deep reverie, looking at Najia who had somehow ended up lying on Xiao Hei’s head, and smiled.

“Let’s go look for Feng Yuan,”

Noticing Xiao Hei carefully balancing its head to prevent Najia from falling off, Qi Chen suggested, then Hong Zhi, suddenly coming to a realization, scratched his head and said,

“Right!

No idea how they are doing now.

If they haven’t made up yet, we might just have Najia sing again~”

“Gina?”

“No use.

Xiao Ji isn’t easily soothed by others,”

Dou Yanlan, holding Cotton, walked over and said calmly, while Cotton, tail wagging curiously at Najia, uttered a lazy cry after a while.

Yanlan gently patted Cotton and said,

“I’m heading back first; it’s getting late.”

Seeing Yanlan walking away, Hong Zhi scratched his head, suddenly remembered something, lifted his right hand to check the time on his watch and hurriedly said,

“Oh no!

It’s so late!

Hurry up!

After we find him, I must rush back!”

Qi Chen took out his phone to check the time and said to Hong Zhi,

“You go back first; I can go look for him.”

“How can that be!”

“It’s getting late and the school gate is about to close.

Plus, your academy is so far from here you might not even make it back before closing time, so you should head back first,”

Hong Zhi hesitated for a moment, weighed his options, and reluctantly said,

“Alright then, I’ll go back first.”

Hong Zhi crouched down to look at Najia and said,

“I’m heading back now.

I’ll come to see you when I have time.”

“Gina?”

Hong Zhi picked up Najia, who was tilted her head to look at him, from Xiao Hei and said goodbye to Qi Chen before calling Xiao Hei and rushing off.

Watching Hong Zhi’s hasty departure, Qi Chen shook his head with a hint of resignation.

“Xiao Ji!

Stop causing trouble, will you?”

“Ji!”

Feng Yuan chased after Xiao Ji, who sensing he was still being followed, kept sprinting forward.

It took a while for Feng Yuan to catch up with Xiao Ji, and before he could say anything, Xiao Ji turned around and dashed beside him.

Feng Yuan took a breath, shaking his head resignedly, and resumed the chase.

While Feng Yuan was chasing Xiao Ji all over the school, he saw the lights of the dormitory in the distance gradually going out.

Remembering something, he stopped, sent a text message, and continued pursuing the fleeing figure of Xiao Ji.

Sensing Feng Yuan suddenly stopping behind her, Xiao Ji turned around indignantly, glanced back, and with a twist of her head, darted even more energetically into the distance.

Feng Yuan and Xiao Ji continued their chase until they arrived at an abandoned school building.

Inside one of the rooms, Feng Yuan successfully cornered Xiao Ji.

He wrapped Xiao Ji into his arms, holding her tightly,

“Please stop making a fuss, Xiao Ji.

Everyone has some little secrets, don’t they?”

“Ji!”

“It’s not that I won’t tell you, it’s just that there’s no need for you to know yet.”

“Ji!”

After a lengthy persuasion, Xiao Ji in Feng Yuan’s arms gradually stopped struggling.

Seeing that Xiao Ji seemed to have forgiven him, Feng Yuan broke into a smile and softly said,

“Have you forgiven me?”

“Ji!”

Xiao Ji turned its head and saw in the moonlight that the wound it had pecked on Feng Yuan’s arm was still oozing blood.

Xiao Ji leaned its head forward and stretched out its tongue, then suddenly remembered something, shook its head, and retreated back into Feng Yuan’s embrace.

Feng Yuan, holding Xiao Ji, turned and left the dilapidated building.

Several pitch-black Nether Ravens perched on the rooftop, silently watching the departing Feng Yuan with eyes ablaze with ghostly blue flames.

When he returned to the dormitory and saw that the main door was locked, Feng Yuan, cradling Xiao Ji, quietly avoided the door guard and made his way to the area directly beneath his dorm room on the third floor.

Noticing that his room was pitch-dark, Feng Yuan thought for a moment, walked to the spot right below the balcony, gently placed Xiao Ji on top of his head, and unfurled his jet-black wings from behind.

With a surge upwards, Feng Yuan grabbed the balcony railing with both hands and flipped onto the balcony.

He gently tapped on the door, and suddenly crouched down to pick up Xiao Ji from his head.

After a while, the lower half of the room’s door opened slowly.

Feng Yuan hurriedly squeezed through the opened lower half of the door and had just closed it when he heard the sound of the patrolling nightingale flying past.

Leaning against the wall, Feng Yuan had just breathed a sigh of relief when he was met with Qi Chen’s angry gaze.

Setting Xiao Ji down, Feng Yuan raised his hands in a surrender gesture and whispered softly,

“Sorry, sorry~”

Qi Chen glanced at the puzzled Xiao Ji and put aside the fruit in his hand that emitted a faint glow, saying helplessly,

“Fine, it’s good that you hurried back.”

Feng Yuan smiled, got up, and noticed that the patrolling nightingale had already gone far away.

He walked over to the bed, where the Dreaming Dragon Baby had been napping the whole time.

It rubbed its bleary eyes, yawned, and cast a disdainful glance at Xiao Ji following behind Feng Yuan.

Hurriedly, Feng Yuan pressed gently on Xiao Ji’s head and whispered,

“Don’t make trouble, or we’ll have a problem if we attract the night patrol teacher.”

“Ji!”

Xiao Ji gave a dissatisfied chirp and haughtily turned away from the hovering Dreaming Dragon Baby.

Seeing the wound on Feng Yuan’s arm, the Dreaming Dragon Baby floated to the cupboard, lightly tugged it open with its claw, and rummaged inside.

After a while, it coiled its tail around a first aid kit and handed it to Feng Yuan.

Feng Yuan took the kit with a smile while Qi Chen only then noticed the fresh blood still dripping intermittently from Feng Yuan’s left arm,

“What happened to you!”

Qi Chen exclaimed in a surprised whisper.

Feng Yuan shook his head, sat down on the bed, and began to dress the wound.

Xiao Ji, feeling somewhat ashamed, hopped onto the bed, ready to help, but was swiftly brushed aside by the Dreaming Dragon Baby’s tail.

Seeing the Dreaming Dragon Baby tidily place the items Feng Yuan handed over back into the kit with its tail, Xiao Ji looked at its short wings and unhappily settled down to sit.

After giving the wound a preliminary treatment, Feng Yuan said to the tired Qi Chen,

“I’m going to take a shower and then sleep.

You rest first~”

“If it wasn’t for you coming back so late, I would have been asleep already.”

Yawning discontentedly, Qi Chen shot a glance at Feng Yuan and turned back to his own bed.

Feng Yuan picked out clothes from the cupboard, looked at the sleeping Najia on the table, shook his head, laid the clothes on the bed, and began to hum “Requiem” softly.

He gently scooped up Najia without waking it and carefully placed it in the little bed Hong Zhi had prepared for it on the upper bunk.

After tucking it in with its special little blanket, Feng Yuan grabbed his clothes and walked into the bathroom.

The Dreaming Dragon Baby, looking down on Xiao Ji with contempt, floated onto its own little nest on the bed, flicked its tail to lift its little blanket, coiled itself up, covered with the blanket, yawned, closed its eyes, and drifted off.

Xiao Ji, glaring resentfully at the Dreaming Dragon Baby, sat dully on the bed.

When Feng Yuan returned from his shower and tended to his wound again, Xiao Ji approached, attempting to mimic the Dreaming Dragon Baby in putting things back in the kit.

Feng Yuan watched with amusement as Xiao Ji clumsily placed the bottles back into the first aid kit, then poked Xiao Ji’s head and said,

“Alright, you go to sleep~”

“Ji!”

Watching Xiao Ji sitting beside him as he bandaged his wound, Feng Yuan shook his head and continued working on his wound.

Once he had finished wrapping it up, he picked up the first aid kit, put it back in the cupboard, and turned to find Xiao Ji still sitting on the bed.

He said softly,

“Aren’t you going to go to sleep?”

“Ji!”

Feng Yuan scratched his head and, with an arm, lifted Xiao Ji and placed it in front of its little house.

Xiao Ji didn’t go in, but looked at Feng Yuan instead.

Feng Yuan, puzzled, asked,

“If you’re not sleeping, what do you want to do?”

“Ji!”

After several unsuccessful attempts to push Xiao Ji into its house, Feng Yuan said somewhat helplessly,

“Well, suit yourself.

I’m exhausted and going to sleep.”
