Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 55: Display of Power
Chapter 55: Display of Power
Vice tower master of the Runic tower remained stoic in the face of so many other powerful beings who were all in the 7th rank, the same as him. He eyed them all with a chilling gaze. But the ones who came for answers did not find it unusual.
One of them eventually asked, "Come on, Cedric. You know why we are all here. We need answers?"
Cedric looked at the woman who asked the question, the vice tower master of the Elementalist tower. The Strongest fire mage and one of the most destructive mages in existence.
Cedric’s eyes blazed in a condescending fury as he said, "Oh, what if I don’t want to answer?"
Vice tower master of the Elementalist tower chuckled to herself as she said, "Well, that won’t be a wise answer, especially considering that all of us are here?"
Another one chimed, "Come on now, Cedric, let’s not play this game."
Cedric’s eyes did not move as he kept looking at the Elementalist vice tower master. But at this moment, another regal voice sounded calmly, "Cedric, we have better things to do, please don’t be stubborn unnecessarily. Everyone here is quite busy, just as you are."
A warrior-like, harsh voice added, "Yeah, I just came here because I was curious. Don’t keep me curious for too long."
Cedric looked at the two who spoke, one was from the Sage Tower, while another was from Berserker’s Sect. The reason Cedric could act so haughtily is that the Rune tower was one of the 4 strongest powers within that kingdom. Except for the Rune tower, the other strongest forces on par with it were,
The Sage Tower ƒreewebɳovel.com
The Arcane Tower and,
The Berserker Sect
Those were the powers he could not act arrogantly against. Unlike the others, Cedric glanced at the Arcane tower’s vice tower master, yet the latter only remained silent without saying anything. Cedric eventually sighed and said, "It was related to one of our experiments."
But the vice tower master of the sage tower shook his head and rebuked angrily,
"Do not insult us, Sir Cedric, please answer honestly."
Cedric’s expression flickered; he lingered for a bit, but eventually said, "You will have the answers in the competition."
All the vice tower masters of various magic branches had their expressions change at that revelation. While those few from the various warrior organizations showed a curious expression. Though the statement did not answer the full question, they were all intelligent old monsters, quick enough to understand that probably one of the rune mages had achieved something exceptional.
They suspected that perhaps one of the low-ranking mages had made an exceptional breakthrough to the mid-ranking mage. But considering the level of response that the world generated at that achievement. They could not help but wonder about the details.
The vice tower master of the sage tower looked at Cedric one more time and understood that they won’t be able to get any more answers out of him. So, he simply made his projection vanish. It seems he would have to contact his tower master for more answer’s but he was unsure if he would actually get any answers in the end.
The others also left one after another until only the Berserker Sect’s vice leader and Vice-master of the Arcane tower remained. The Arcane vice master showed an apologetic expression towards Cedric as he said,
"Come on, Cedric, please understand I couldn’t take your side in that situation."
"Ah, yes, yes, I know, I know," sighed Cedric helplessly. A part of him felt indignant. This wasn’t part of his plan. He looked at the Berserker and asked angrily.
"And why are you here?"
"Heh, let me ask you just one thing?" questioned the mighty Berserker.
"What?" queried Cedric.
"Should I come to the competition to see, and should I be excited for it?" asked the mighty Berserker with apparent expectation.
Cedric thought carefully, he remained silent for half a minute. Just as the Berserker’s vice sect leader was about to lose patience. He smiled dangerously and looked towards him as he said,
"Well, you are in for a great surprise, Berserker."
The berserker had a sinister smile on his face as his eyes glowed red. But the Arcane tower’s vice master looked at the two of them speechlessly, he said, "Cough, okay. I have things to do. See you gentlemen in a few years."
The Berserker’s ethereal figure also disappeared, and Cedric remained hovering above the rune tower. Inspecting the surroundings carefully, he made sure that there was no one else. He entered back into the tower and rushed to Ashborn’s room.
His eyes widened in disbelief. The old librarian was already there before him, but he also stood there, petrified. Cedric Stormscribe muttered in pure shock, "How can this be? How can this be? Just how could......"
A chillingly excited expression appeared on his face as the old mage began to laugh maniacally. Axel himself was floating in the air, and a circle of condensed mana had formed a ring surrounding him. His figure looked like it was almost glowing slightly.
A few minutes passed, and only the laughter of the vice master Cedric echoed in the room. The old librarian looked at Cedric and sighed. In the next moment, Axel’s body started to move slightly. He abruptly opened his eyes. Found himself floating.
For some reason, without needing his control. The mana itself gently placed him on the ground. Axel first looked towards the librarian and his master, who had already stopped laughing. But both of them were looking at him with a weird gaze.
But they did not answer, thus he proceeded to inspect himself. But he was almost horrified at the sheer scale of the changes within him. Boundless power surged within his body. There were small amounts of gas like mana in his core, only 1/3 of it was filled. But he could instinctively feel the power within it.
Then his magic circuits seem to have improved by at least 10 times what they were before, with more efficiency and speed in mana circulation. The pathways were larger. His physical body was similarly at least 10 times or more stronger than it was previously.
Axel went in front of a full-body mirror to see the changes in his eyes, yet what he saw left him dumbfounded for the umpteenth time. The patterns in his eyes became somewhat less complicated, but they exuded a sense of depth, a profoundness that was impossible to describe. He could only say one word, that utterly beautiful pattern on his eyes, it was
’Majestic’.
Yes, that was the only word that could be used. It was chillingly majestic and captivating beyond reason. His attention only afterwards moved onto the rest of his body. His body grew more, he now looked like a proper 18-19-year-old. His hair color had turned blue.
All in all, his body became even finer, at least the ladies would like it very, very much so. He was sure of it. Inspecting his soul space, a wonderous view appeared in front of him. 24 Golden lines together forming a polygon shape, and in each of those lines at the center were the 24 basic rune symbols.
The strands of red threads coming from the red sun, then connecting with each of the 24 runes like a spiderweb, made the view even more bizarre and wonderous in its own way.
With a sigh, he went out of his soul space. It seems Old Leroy had left the place, and his master remained.
His master said, "Take all of your created weapons and come with me."
Understanding his master’s intent, he followed him into the same wide field-like area. But unlike before this time, there would be less talking and more action. Though he still had many things to ask his master.
Cedric turned towards his disciple and ordered, "Attack, with everything you have. Do not hold back, Ashborn."
Axel’s expression turned serious, without saying a single word, he brought out the thousands and thousands of his engraved swords. His mana flowed out of his core, it circulated through the circuits. Flowed into every corner of his body as his physical strength shot to unprecedented levels, even his master’s eyes flickered dangerously, seeing that.
The mana went on his eyes, and his whole viewpoint of the world changed; he could see it. Everything became so simple, yet so profound, seeing through that majestic sight. He instinctively used his mana to pick up the 24 most potent swords. Just a simple wave of his hands, the selected 24 swords flew towards him. They rotated and pointed their tips towards their master.
He poured all of his mana into the 24 swords. A boundless power surged out from every single one of the swords. His new gas-like mana was so powerful that the very swords were close to breaking apart, just from being empowered to a higher level than what their limits allowed. Each of the concepts and their specific meanings that Axel imbued while engraving the swords started to affect the surroundings.
Axel also released his full killing intent as the air itself turned slightly red. Even the golden patterns on his enchanting eyes glowed in an ominous crimson hue. The very footing beneath him and the peaceful grassland started to break apart under that charge of immense power.
