Chapter 54: Polygon Runecaster

After successfully engraving the first rune of ’emotion’ on a weapon. His stash of potions was actually finished. So, he needed to go and get them from the librarian. Except eating, sleeping, and spending some time with his little brother. All his time was invested in the rune engravings.

He refilled his stash of potions, and the old librarian showed him information about some of the schools. Axel, while taking a lot of considerations, chose one of them. He visited the school, accompanied by the old man. The librarian kept both of their presence hidden. Axel continued to observe the classes. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Most of the classes and their students had that overbearing arrogance in them, just because they were born rich, and could attend a school which is situated in the mage territory. In the end, he found a particular class with fewer overbearing kids and chose to admit Akon to it.

Time flowed, and Akon started going to school. Axel also hired a private tutor for Akon, who helped in his little brother’s studies in all the subjects. While he himself continued to engrave one rune after another on the weapons. The moment he mastered being able to engrave 5 different runes on 5 weapons.

A change appeared again. The change this time was that, he was now able to enter his soul space. He entered the soul space and found the red sun and the unique looking giant rune imprint on it, which expressed his individuality and the connection with ’Prime Nexus’.

But Axel, for some reason, was unable to fully see the rune. It was extremely complicated. He couldn’t even begin to understand what it meant. He heaved a sigh and exited the soul space. He was able to create his circle and advance now, but he obviously wouldn’t do so.

His master, Cedric had suggested him to make 10 weapons and advance. Yet, Axel was set on mastering all 24 basic runes and making the corresponding number of weapons. There is a difference between being able to engrave a rune permanently on a weapon and mastering the process so well that you will never fail again, no matter how hard you try.

So, when Axel had mastered engraving the 24 basic rune symbols with the ink, before advancing as a Rank 2 Acolyte. Instead of simply mastering just 10 of them, it was an impossible level of achievement that not even Durein Nightcrown, the strongest mage in history, had accomplished.

Now, he was aiming for the next impossible achievement. As expected, when he tried engraving the 11th rune on a weapon. His mind became cloudy, a soul spilling pain engulfed him, it was not a simple headache anymore. The pain was directed at his very soul. His entire existence begged for him to let go.

But he held on with more strength, activating his Runic eyes and Magic circuit eased the process, but it still felt impossible to an extent. It was as if the world itself wanted to stop him. It did not want him to succeed and break the balance. After all, his power’s would skyrocket far far higher, if he succeeded this time as well.

After almost 60 more failed tries, he had done it. Just like that, he continued to master one symbol after another, despite the unbearably increasing difficulty.

3 months had passed, since Axel brought back Akon, and every single day and moment was a hellish torture for him. No matter how many times he failed, he did not give up, and after a total of more than 10,000 failed attempts, he had succeeded.

He had mastered being able to engrave all 24 of the basic runes from now on, on suitable materials, and turn them into powerful weapons. The moment he accomplished that, for Axel, the entire world seemed to have halted. Countless swords were lying all around the engraving room.

Despite Axel putting most of his engraved weapons inside his space ring. A strange instinct took over him, and he brought out the best of the 24 weapons he had engraved from his ring. He fused them with his liquid mana, the moment he did so. He lost control of it all. The whites of his eyes turned completely obsidian blue. The runic pattern on his eyes glowed brightly and shimmered.

All the 24 created weapons, each connected with another as they surrounded him like a circle, creating a polygon shape made of 24 weapons. All the 24 rune symbols on the weapon glowed violently, as if they were about to explode. But it did not.

The weapons turned into golden lines of mana, only the rune symbols remained in each of the straight lines. The polygon structure became smaller and smaller until it touched Axel, while the man in question remained floating with his eyes wide open, but with no sense whatsoever.

The polygon shape seems to have vanished inside of him. It appeared in his soul space. The polygon took place surrounding the red sun in his soul space. All the 24 runes glowed violently, and so did the rune imprint that existed on the face of the red sun.

As if the Polygon and the sun was trying to communicate and establish a connection. Red strands of energy shot out from the red sun, each of the strands continued to touch the symbols, one after another, until all 24 of the symbols had established a connection with the red sun.

A tint of redness appeared on the golden polygon made of 24 basic rune symbols. But it was barely noticeable. If one looked from a distance, they would not notice that it was actually a polygon, but it would seem like a circle.

The moment this change was completed, a profound transformation occurred in Axel; his body grew taller and slightly more muscular, while keeping his proportions well-maintained. The color of his eyes turned more vibrant, and the pattern in his eyes became simpler but also complicated in a strange way. A boundless amounts of mana rushed inside of his body like an unstoppable tide.

The liquid mana inside his mana core filled up to the brim, then somehow it started to compress further as more mana went in. The magic circuit in his body also became more complicated. The mana pathways became smoother and wider. Impurities came out of him in large amounts. But the world itself seems to be taking care of him, as the mana cleaned up all the impurities and burned them up.

Axel’s brown hair color changed to blue. Similar to how his hair color was back on the Eldarion continent as ’Axel Nomrad’. The liquid mana turned into a new gas form, yet that gaseous mana was actually 10 times heavier than the previous liquid mana of his.

Axel looked like a captivating prince charming who was floating in the air, a strange ring of mana surrounded him. While Axel himself was going through his profound transformation and achieved his breakthrough.

Something world-trembling was happening outside, the moment the polygon circle had formed within Axel’s soul space. The mana of the entire world had stopped moving, and because of that abrupt event, the entire world was affected. The fight between mages and warriors had stopped. Wars had stopped. All the mages in the world remained stupefied at that event.

Mages could still use the mana if they wanted, but it became 10 times harder to do so. Countless apocalyptic events happened in that mere instant. Powerful beasts started to cry out to the heavens, the sky darkened all over the world. As if the world was announcing the arrival of the most supreme genius mage that has ever existed in its entire history. Even the monster named Durein Nightcrown was surpassed.

Only the various vice tower masters understood some parts of the event. Some of them even tried to track down the source of that anomaly. Axel’s dignified master cursed loudly. He was in the tower, and he immediately applied the most powerful barrier using the full power of the runic tower and himself.

Violent rumbling clouds gathered above the runic tower, an almighty lightning of purple color violently attacked, but was unable to pierce through the barrier applied by the vice tower master. Yet, a strange strand of energy managed to pass through it, then entered Axel’s body.

And this event did not go unnoticed by anyone. The site of the majestic runic tower being hit by that world-shattering purple lightning was too majestic to miss by anyone. Axel’s master barely held in the barrier despite all of his power. News soon reached the other towers that this worldwide event was likely related to the rune tower.

The purple lightning and the black clouds soon dispersed. But soon after, the projections of the other vice tower master’s appeared right in front of Cedric. He had a neutral expression on his face, even many other powerful figures from the warrior’s path also appeared in their ethereal form. All of their eyes were locked onto the vice tower master, demanding answers.
