Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 67: Ace of The Rune Tower
Chapter 67: Ace of The Rune Tower
The moment Axel stepped into the designated area of the Elemental’s tower, they were immediately alerted as all eyes focused on Axel, but the person in question merely smiled, while audiences, even the powerhouses, except for Cedric and Berserker’s vice sect master, sighed in disappointment.
No one seemed to believe the lone Runecaster would last more than a few minutes facing all 20 Elemental mages alone. Some of the magicians in the audience believed that he was likely a bait, perhaps. To lure the mages away, into some other trap. But that would be too obvious a ploy.
Only the Berserker powerhouse seems to sense something amiss, there was something about the gaze of the boy that seemed, unnerving for unknown reasons. But to the disappointment of everyone Axel did not run back, or show any fear. He simply walked forward in graceful steps, like he was taking a stroll in the morning on a park, not walking into the enemy territory.
One of the enemy mages could not help but ask mockingly to his teammates, "Has this bastard lost his mind?"
But their team leader commanded promptly without much interest, "Eliminate him. He might have some trump cards, who knows?"
A few of the mages rushed forward channeling their mana into the atmosphere, and activating their elemental abilities, wishing to crush the damn bastard to cinder’s. Yet, they were bound to be oh, so so very disappointed.
Out of nowhere, a boundless killing intent pressed onto all 20 Elemental mages, and they all seemed to lose control of their bodies. Every single one of them was pressed onto the ground, a spine-tingling sensation creeping up on them.
Shudder!!! Shudder!!! Shudder!!!
As if a venomous centipede was crawling from their feet to their faces. The fear they felt was beyond inhumane. Their bodies started shaking, they could not raise their heads. As if the Apex predator was looking at them, peering into their soul.
The audience jumped up in surprise, while some of the strong ones showed a visible frown at the turn of events. Meanwhile the powerhouses high in the sky, had their eyes wide open. Specially the Berserker, a wide grin appeared on his face.
The sage asked annoyingly, "Just how many people did the boy kill? To have such pure killing intent, it should not be theoretically possible for a mere third circle mage to even have such bloodlust."
The arcane powerhouse added, "His mind should not be able to handle the weight of that powerful intent, in all honesty."
But the Berserker rebuked excitedly, "Cedric you fucking bastard, you were letting such a precious killer waste away in your damn runic sorcery? Have you lost your damn mind? This boy is a born killer. He should be in my berserker sect."
Cedric himself also had a wide grin on his face seeing the utterly baffled expressions of his fellow powerhouses. He was enjoying it thoroughly. And his disciple merely showed his killing intent and nothing more.
Axel walked up to the flag calmly, he simply picked it up. Looking backwards towards the path he walked in, calculating the distance and trajectory, he simply threw the flag high in the sky, a few moments later, on the runic teams area.
While everyone was cussing Axel non-stop angrily, since they had to follow his orders and could not go against him. Emma noticed something was falling from the sky, she immediately thought if this was an attack, but then looked closer and realized it was another flag. More of them noticed something falling from the sky and wanted to attack the thing. Since most of them were unsure of what exactly it was.
But Emma promptly stopped them in time, and the flag landed on their area, the moment it did so, the flag turned to dust but their own flag glowed and some changes happened. On the bar of their flag, the number "2" appeared signaling that this flag was the merger of two.
Everyone was stupefied at that turn of events, it had only been a little more than 10 minutes since Axel had left them to guard their own flag, then suddenly this happened. Everyone shot questioning glances towards Emma and Ezekiel for answer’s.
Emma herself was stomped in disbelief, she muttered to herself, "No way, no way, there is no way that guy actually managed to eliminate an entire team all alone. right?"
Everyone listening to her became even more shocked; they looked towards their flag, but that was also the only explanation. It was possible to steal a flag when two teams were fighting each other, but whenever a third party enters any team’s area, they are notified. So, that was unlikely as well. There’s also the fact that Axel was able to throw the flag back in this territory from that far, no runecaster should be able to do that.
The audience on the other hand was going utterly crazy at that display of overwhelming power, the commentator explained to the audience, how Axel had brought the entire Elemental towers team to their very knees from his killing intent alone. Most of the audience cheered thunderously, seeing the runecaster team have such an ace in their team.
Axel’s friends Osborn, Jason and Wang were sitting together, their mouths agape. Little Akon was sitting together with the old librarian, he also had some of his friends from his new school accompanying him, one of Akon’s friend jumped up excitedly not understanding the full process but excited nonetheless, "You’re brother is so damn strong, my god. No, no wonder he’s the disciple of the vice tower master."
Many similar comments followed towards Akon from his friends, while the boy himself had a flushed expression on his face, yes that was his brother. He never knew, never that his older brother was actually so strong.
The berserker high in the sky laughed aloud with a satisfied grin, seeing such weapon-throwing skills. The other powerhouses all stared intently at Axel, unlike the berserker, their reaction was more tame, after all, Axel still hadn’t shown anything significant yet. For now, his killing intent was impressive, extremely impressive, but that wasn’t enough for them. They needed to see it all, his full power.
Axel on the other hand remained unbothered, after throwing the spear, he looked towards the kneeling mages, bringing out a simple sword, he eliminated them all by delivering a deadly wound to each. They were automatically teleported out, but the pure terror on the faces of the mages remained, even when they were teleported back.
He then moved on to searching for the next team, It didn’t take him too long to find the next one, the Tower of Necromancy, or the so-called death mages. It seems most of them remained, while they sent out their undead for scouting.
Axel brought out one of his countless swords, which was imbued with the rune of "Light". His killing intent wasn’t too effective against the death mages, while they did tremble in fear, but with dark magic, they fended it off quite easily. Axel diluted his mana to one-tenth of its power, then injected it into the sword artifact. freeweɓnøvel.com
Eliminated all the necromancers and their summons with relative ease. Even his stamina wasn’t affected. Similarly, picking up the flag, he tied the cloth part of the flag to its handle, and same as before, threw it.
Just like that, one tower after another kept getting eliminated: Spellcasters, Conjurers, Summoners, illusionists, Witches, Sorcerers, Warlocks.
Just activating his killing intent was enough to make them all kneel. However, a doubt surfaced in his mind, perhaps his killing intent wasn’t this strong because of what he went through as ’Ash’, it should be because of the demon bloodline mainly. However, in the trial, he hasn’t even felt the slightest trace of it in him, which was strange to say the least.
Soon, he encountered one of the toughest teams to handle, the arcane tower. Similarly to before, activating his killing intent, they were rendered immobile, but soon after, they somehow found a way to completely negate his killing intent. It was strange, as if they were making their minds immune to the bloodlust itself.
Then there was their magic which was completely different from the runic studies, they were extremely adaptable. If Axel used a lightning sword, they used spells which counters or negates it directly. Their teamwork was very precise, Axel indulged them for a while out of curiosity. Even the Arcane mages figured out that, their lone enemy was in fact toying with them for some reason.
At first, Axel found the area designated to the arcanists, then fought them for a while, half of their team that went out, came back, receiving the distress signal. He pretty much took care of all the teams the same way, instead of searching all over the place.
However, Axel soon received a signal on his artifact, meaning his own area was attacked, and the only ones left were the Sage tower team. Meanwhile, the Arcane mages had their faces turn pale when Axel brought out one of his tri-rune artifacts, which the arcanists wouldn’t be able to counter so easily.
Thus, things transpired as expected, the arcane team was eliminated, this time he obviously did not throw the flag in the sky. Taking the flag with him, he hurriedly rushed back.
Rushing through the forest in a moderately high speed, Axel finally reached back to his teams area, after an unknown amount of time. To his surprise, there was no fighting going on. All 19 of his team member’s were there but with a guarded look, they all showed surprised expressions, they were relieved internally the moment he was in their view.
10 of the Sages were also right there with a relaxed look, their eyes lit up seeing Axel, seeing him holding the arcane tower’s flag. Axel without waiting time, stabbed the flag in the ground and it merged with their own flag. But his enemies did not stop him. One of the sages came forward and said, "Hello, I am Quintin, leader of the team of sages."
Axel looked at him curiously and stated, "Ashborn, team leader of the Rune team."
"May I ask, how exactly you were able to get all those flags all alone?" asked the Sage.
Axel smiled and brought out the twin rune sword, engraved with the rune of ’Lightning’ and ’Metal’, "Why don’t I show you how?"
But Quintin only chuckled and said, "Oh, please. You don’t expect me to believe that you took on all the best of the best mages, of all the towers, and alone? Then came out unscathed? It’s doubtful that even a 4th circle mage would be able to do such a thing, let alone you, a Runecaster?"
But Axel merely smiled and released his killing intent; the air itself was painted in a tint of red. His own team member trembled in pure terror despite not being the main target of his bloodlust.
