Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 72: Apollyon Ashborn
Chapter 72: Apollyon Ashborn
Attacks after attacks, injuries after injuries, elimination after elimination, followed one after another as the entire arena went into total chaos. Countless battles happening at once, the audience themselves went crazy in which battle to follow and whatnot, it looked like an actual battlefield more than anything else they saw.
In the midst of it, outside of instructing everyone carefully on who should do what, and keeping an eye all over the battlefield. Axel himself was wreaking havoc nonstop on the weaker members of each team. The disparity in the numbers was too big, so he had to level down that to a manageable degree first hand before anything else.
Booooooooooooooom!
With a powerful arc of thunder discharge, more and more were eliminated as he danced around the battlefield like a blue bird of destruction. But despite his directions, more of his team members were getting eliminated.
One of the magicians in the audience suddenly called out, "Hey, do you guys see his glowing eyes?"
"Yeah, that’s right. I thought I was seeing things," another one chimed in.
"What kind of runic effect is that?" someone else commented.
As more and more people began to notice an anomaly in his eyes, the commentator was forced to request validation of it from the higher-ups and even the powerhouses.
Meanwhile, the powerhouses high in the sky all had blank and terrified looks on their faces.
Specifically, the sage tower’s vice master looked as if his soul had left his body. He had a jealous glint in his eyes as he continued to observe Axel fighting, eliminating one foe after another.
Soon, the fight came to a halt, and all of Axel’s teammates had been eliminated. So did many of his opponents. Surprisingly, only 10 people remained. Every one of them was the team leader. Nonetheless, his teammates did well, quite well in fact. They were able to hold off all of the strong ones just for enough time for him to be able to thin down the numbers. It went far better than what he initially expected, that’s for sure.
Axel was gasping for breath, and so were his 10 remaining adversaries. But for some reason, there was a pin drop silence. The sage asked Axel through gritted teeth, he was terribly injured, "Is....is...., is that that, are those Runic Eyes? The real runic eyes?"
"The eyes that the legendary Durein Nightcrown had?" asked the Arcanist in despair.
Axel looked at them for a moment, amused; their looks reminded him of how he used to beg on the streets and used to look at the rich people, their clothes, and their riches. It was a terrible comparison, but it couldn’t be helped.
Axel looked at the massive amounts of audience all around the arena holding their breaths, waiting for his response as he declared boldly, "Yes, these are the very eyes that the strongest mage in history used to possess, The Runic Eyes."
The moment Axel revealed the truth, shock, gasp, tremble, excitement, all sorts of emotions ran through the countless audience, but his opponents in front of him had their expressions turn ugly; the arcanist despaired, hearing that, he simply slumped to the ground.
The others frowned visibly, few were shocked by their muttering, incomprehensible words. But the man in question, without caring for any of their reactions, exchanged his current sword with another one which had the runes of ’Bone’, ’Flesh’, ’Blood’, and ’Strength’.
Axel’s body started recovering at an insane speed, just holding that sword as those runes powered the corresponding physical components of his body. Seeing that, the ones distracted got their minds back to the fight. Smiling, Axel attacked again. There was no lightning this time, but the physical force behind each of his attacks affected his enemies perhaps more in-depth. fгeewebnovёl.com
Soon, without too much difficulty, using his runic eyes. All were eliminated. Another wave of cacophonic cheers followed.
"Dear Mages, Warriors, and Humans, I present to you the undisputed winner of the mage towers competition, the greatest genius of our current era and the second greatest genius in the history of the mages, only second to the legendary Durein Nightcrown himself."
"The one and only Absolute Runecaster in existence, Apollyon Ashborn," declared the commentator thunderously.
Following that bold declaration 12 figures came down from the sky, each of their figures glowed dangerously, they’re power so great, reality itself seem to bending to their will at least that’s what most people seem to think. They were obviously all the vice lords of the 12 mage towers.
But if one looked at their faces carefully, except for Rune Tower’s vice master, all of them had a neutral look on their faces. None of them was pleased indeed. Cedric spoke loudly with a smile,
"Ashborn, we have decided to forgo the individual catalogue battles, since you will be the sole winner in it anyway, so there is no need to continue that unnecessarily."
"And as the sole shining winner, with the overwhelming battle prowess, you shall be gifted the highest prize, all the mage towers have to offer. You shall have the supreme meditation technique, which is rumored to be left behind by the Durein Nightcrown himself. It is one of his greatest creations," stated Axel’s master.
All the 12 figures started to glow brightly in strange light, they all spoke a weird chant in one union, a single golden thread came out of each of their bodies then combined into one, their glowing figures dimmed and out of nowhere, space seem to twist and turn and seemingly out of nowhere, an ordinary looking small wooden box appeared at that very place, it automatically flowed towards Axel, landed on his hand, as he grabbed it carefully.
After looking at it for a few moments, he simply put it into his space ring. And the competition was simply over, just like that. His master loudly announced the successful completion of the mage towers competition.
All the vice masters glanced at him each in different moments, but Axel felt it. None of them had any goodwill towards him, especially the Sage Tower and the Elemental Tower. But he himself kept a neutral expression on his face. After the powerhouses each vanished, he simply went about his way.
He was now one step closer, Axel did not doubt that the ’Supreme Meditation’ technique would fasten his progress significantly one way or the other.
