Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire-Chapter 56 Griffin, Ferocious Species and Giant
Chapter 56: Chapter 56 Griffin, Ferocious Species and Giant
"Although the Golden Dragons have a tradition of signing contracts with the Cloud Giants, I’m too young now to attract a Cloud Giant."
Noah expressed his doubts, feeling that no Cloud Giant would follow a Young Dragon, even a Golden Dragon, as the Cloud Giants wouldn’t stand to gain anything.
Many Golden Dragons only recruit Cloud Giants to guard their castles after reaching adulthood because they sign mutual aid agreements for offense and defense. The Giants serve the Golden Dragons, and the Golden Dragons also have the obligation to provide military support to the Cloud Giants.
In the contractual relationship, the relationship between the Dragon and the Giant is relatively equal. However, in reality, since adult Golden Dragons possess power superior to the Cloud Giants, the relationship often reflects that of master and servant.
"I think you can."
This was the response of the legendary Duke Casius.
Thus, Noah set off with his foster father.
The Cloud Giants are a relatively civilized branch within the Giant Clan. They form tribes around family units and are often found in towering mountains or floating Cloud Islands in the sky.
They have mastered production skills such as weaving, forging, domestication, planting, and construction. Their individual strength ranks highly among the Giant clans, which is why they can earn the favor of Golden Dragons.
Golden Dragons have no fixed race for recruiting servants, often seeking suitable kind creatures from the surroundings, but Cloud Giants are a common choice for many Golden Dragons.
In the Augustus family’s territory, naturally, there were no traces of Cloud Giants active, so Noah was taken by his foster father into the wilderness filled with a primitive wilderness atmosphere.
The lush vegetation, tracing the contours of the mountains, curves gently, layer upon layer, overlapping until the snow-capped mountain ranges in the distance disappear into the clouds.
The land is vast, the sky is boundless, overlooking all from high above, everything seems so beautiful. Transformed into a golden cat and perching on his foster father’s shoulder, Noah did not feel any danger.
But Noah knew that while he was still a Young Dragon, if he entered the boundless green sea below, he would understand what reality meant and personally experience the harshness of the natural laws.
The beauty in front of him was merely an illusion because it was all based on his foster father. Wherever the legend had passed, the sky was blue and clear, no birds were seen flying, the forests were silent, all beasts prostrated, this whole land had surrendered.
"Our luck isn’t too bad."
The castle built by the Cloud Giants on the mountain peak was too conspicuous in this barren wilderness, a trace of civilization amidst the green sea, like a light in the darkness.
When Casius descended from the sky with Noah, even if the castle master did not want trouble, he had to speak,
"Human, what do you want?"
The giant, with milky white skin, dressed in a luxurious silk robe, holding a scepter, stood alone on the castle’s lookout platform, looking at Casius with both vigilance and awe.
In a nearby griffin cage, the domesticated Golden Feathered Griffin trembled, and in the courtyard behind, the Fierce Wolves, usually violent, tucked their tails and whimpered.
These creatures took him no small amount of effort to domesticate, yet they couldn’t help him at all at this moment, but he didn’t expect them to.
Because if not for the home he had painstakingly built and the wife and children hiding in the castle below, he’d want to cast everything aside and flee far away, every inch of his body screamed warnings.
"What do you think?"
Casius asked as he landed on the lookout platform. Although his form was much smaller than the Cloud Giant’s, the momentum was completely reversed; the presence of the nearly twelve-meter tall Cloud Giant was nearly nonexistent.
"I think it’s okay."
Noah jumped down from his foster father’s shoulder and strolled over to the griffin cage, examining the airborne beasts reared within. There was not just one but a pair, including a few young cubs.
This indicated that the Cloud Giant’s domestication and breeding skills were quite good; given enough time, he might even be able to raise a griffin flock. However, this would also create significant food supply problems and not a small risk of backlash.
"Oh, you also tamed Fierce Wolves?"
Noah looked past the griffin cage into the castle’s courtyard, where the figures of a few black and gray beasts came into sight, lighting up the Golden Dragon’s eyes.
"What exactly do you want?"
Seeing the little cat carelessly wandering around his castle, seemingly intent on entering the inner courtyard, the Cloud Giant couldn’t hold back any longer.
"Hmm!"
Seeing the Cloud Giant petrified by his foster father’s intimidation, Noah pondered for a moment and then dispelled the Transformation Technique, the graceful and slender Golden Dragon Body unfurling before the Cloud Giant, causing his expression to gradually turn to surprise.
"Golden Dragon?!"
The Cloud Giant immediately recognized the elegant and noble creature in front of him, although it was still smaller than what he read about in books; it was just a Young Dragon.
"Would you be willing to serve me?"
Noah asked directly and straightforwardly.
There was no record in the Dragon Clan’s inherited memory on how to negotiate with Cloud Giants and establish contractual relationships. It seemed that all ancestors felt there was no need for documentation because, to them, this was natural and fell into place. Just like Dragons didn’t need to be taught how to fly.
"You want to recruit me?"
The Cloud Giant was surprised, even incredulous, yet he felt a faint sense of relief in his heart, recognizing that the visitors did not come with malicious intent, which made things much easier.
"And your family,"
Noah added.
"You’re too young."
The Cloud Giant instinctively shook his head in refusal. If an adult Golden Dragon came for recruitment, no hesitation would be needed, but this was merely a Young Dragon. However, upon seeing the man’s gaze accompanying the Golden Dragon, the Cloud Giant’s rational mind prevailed, prompting him to add,
"But we can discuss it."
"And your family? Can you call them out?"
Noah curiously peered into the depths of the giant’s castle.
The male Giant hesitated for just a moment before deciding to call out his family members since hiding held no meaning before this man.
Thus, Noah witnessed a typical Cloud Giant family.
A pair of adult Cloud Giants formed a couple, nurturing four offspring together, building a fortress atop the peak, taming high-level beasts, and ruling over a territory.
"Your numbers are still too few."
Although young in age, Noah had sharp eyesight. Despite the Cloud Giant couple’s effort, such numbers could not satisfy a Golden Dragon.
