Goodbye, Ex-husband! I'm Pregnant with Your Uncle's Child!-Chapter 47 - Clothes Draped Over Her Shoulders
47: Chapter 47: Clothes Draped Over Her Shoulders
47 -47: Clothes Draped Over Her Shoulders
James Thompson looked down at Sophia Hart, his voice very low, “If you want it, ask Chloe Sullivan.”
His gaze inadvertently swept over Julia Land before he walked out.
When Sophia Hart heard this answer, she nearly died of anger.
She followed him out and discussed with Chloe Sullivan, “Miss Sullivan, I’m willing to pay double the price to buy the Blue Heart Diamond from you.
Is that possible?”
Chloe Sullivan wasn’t stupid; the girl clearly came from a good family and she knew Mr.
Thompson.
Chloe hesitated for a moment, then looked up at Mr.
Thompson, “Brother Thompson, who is she?”
“Cousin.”
So she was his cousin.
Chloe Sullivan smiled, her eyes lively, “Cousin, the Blue Heart Diamond is a birthday gift from Brother Thompson to me.
I have another pink diamond in my collection.
How about I give that to you instead?”
Sophia Hart wasn’t the kind to make a scene.
Since it was a birthday present, she wasn’t going to shamelessly ask for it.
“No need for the pink diamond, but thank you.”
Chloe Sullivan gave an embarrassed smile, “I have a simple dinner at home tonight for my birthday.
I’d like to invite you.
Are you free?
And your friend here as well.”
Sophia Hart looked at Julia Land but did not accept Chloe’s invitation.
She was naive, not stupid.
Sister Land might have forgotten Brother Thompson, but they too had been together.
It was too cruel to let Sister Land watch Brother Thompson being good to another woman.
The driver opened the car door.
Mr.
Thompson let Chloe Sullivan in first.
She looked up and thanked him before getting in and nodded to Sophia Hart and her company, “Goodbye to you both.”
The car drove away.
Julia Land blinked, her eyes a bit dry, then turned around, “Is there anywhere else you want to go after this?”
Sophia Hart thought for a moment, “Let’s go shopping.”
Julia Land nodded in agreement with the decision.
For women, shopping is all about looking, looking, and buying.
By the time they returned home after their shopping spree, they were both exhausted and collapsed onto the sofa.
Sophia Hart leaned against the sofa lazily and asked, “Sister Land, seeing Mr.
Thompson, did any memories come back to you?”
Julia Land reached for the water pitcher on the coffee table and poured herself a glass of water, “No, I can’t remember.”
Her mind was focused solely on revenge.
*
In the morning, Julia Land received a message from Arabella Shaw.
[Julia Land, let’s meet at West Wealth Restaurant at 7 o’clock tonight.
I’d like to talk to you.]
Upon seeing the message, Julia Land became fully awake.
She touched her chin and slowly curved her lips into a smile.
Julia Land replied ‘okay’ to Arabella Shaw.
Sophia Hart knew Julia Land was going out tonight, so she planned to go to the Dreamy Club to watch the male strip show.
A little after six in the evening, Julia Land changed her clothes and drove to West Wealth Restaurant.
As soon as she walked into the restaurant, she saw Arabella Shaw sitting there in a white dress.
Next to her, Noah Quarter stood playing the violin, the song was a serenade to a lover.
He played the violin with emotion, which was unlike his usual cold demeanor.
Arabella Shaw looked up at him, moved and with affectionate eyes.
After the song ended, she stood up, stood on her tiptoes, and kissed him.
Julia Land finally understood the purpose of Arabella Shaw’s invitation.
It was to let her watch their display of affection.
As well as to show off.

Arabella Shaw turned her head to look at Julia Land, with a sneer in her heart, thinking Julia Land wasn’t qualified to compete with her for a man.
She offered a slight smile.
Julia Land watched dispassionately and turned to leave West Wealth Restaurant.
She wasn’t heartbroken but felt she could still get under Arabella Shaw’s skin.
Noah Quarter followed Arabella Shaw’s gaze outside and caught sight of Julia Land leaving.
Julia Land walked on the street, pausing now and then.
She arrived at a bridge, leaned on the railing with both hands, and looked down at the water flowing beneath.
She leaned her body out over the railing, looking somewhat dangerous.
A silver sedan passed by, stopped, and then reversed back.
James Thompson’s eyes, dark as ink, fixated on the woman whose torso extended over the railing.
He flicked the ash from his cigarette and pushed open the car door to approach.
“Thinking of jumping down?”
Julia Land turned in surprise when she heard the voice and found James Thompson.
She paused, “Mr.
Thompson.”
James’s deep gaze briefly settled on her, equally distant, “Miss Land.”
“Hanging on the railing in the middle of the night isn’t safe,” he remarked with a casual tone.
Julia was taken aback for a moment and then smiled with a smirk, “Hahaha, you don’t think I’d jump, do you?
Impossible.”
She leaned her elbow on the railing, her laughter unrestrained.
James nodded, “Then I misunderstood, my apologies.”
The car window rolled down, and a woman’s voice emerged.
Chloe Sullivan peered out and called, “Brother Thompson, it’s almost time.”
Her expressive eyes curiously surveyed Julia Land.
Julia turned her head back, glanced at Chloe, a blossoming beauty indeed very pretty, and she waved to James with a smile, “Mr.
Thompson, goodbye.”
James gave her a look and, seeing her smiling, nodded slightly.
He returned to the vehicle, bent down to grab a jacket from inside, and walked back over to Julia.
The jacket draped over her shoulders.
It carried a faint scent of cologne, which Julia couldn’t quite identify.
She opened her mouth, intending to refuse, saying it wasn’t necessary.
He flicked his cigarette with his fingers, gestured with his hand, turned around, and sat back in the car.
The car door closed, and the vehicle drove away.
Julia turned back and adjusted the warm jacket on her.
Her eyes shone with tears as she looked at the sparkling waves under the lights.
In the car, Chloe couldn’t help but ask, “Brother Thompson, are you close with Miss Land?”
James answered indifferently, “Close.”
If he weren’t, he wouldn’t have given her his jacket.
Seeing he didn’t want to talk further, Chloe didn’t press on and planned to ask her cousin when she got home.

Julia returned to her community building, where a package awaited her at the management office, from an unknown sender.
She carried the package back home.
Sophia Hart wasn’t there yet, so she set down the package and went to take a shower.
After showering, she threw today’s clothes into the washing machine.
On the balcony hung a man’s large jacket, next to it were the small garments of a woman.
Julia glanced at the jacket, turned back into the room, and eyed the package on the table, deciding to open it.
The package contained a black box.
She opened the box and saw a photograph inside.
Julia covered her pale lips as tears fell.
Inside the black box was a photo from an accident scene, with Violet shielding her.
He had bled so much.
Julia cried silently, overwhelmed with emotion.
She ran to her room, turned on her computer, and submitted her resume.
Strong Health Technology was hiring a secretary, and Noah Quarter, to avoid any impropriety, probably wouldn’t hire her as a secretary again.
So, she chose Strong Health Technology, historically a rival to the Quarter Family.
The chairman of Strong Health was considered a rival to Noah Quarter, yet lately the two companies had started collaborating.
Collaboration meant more interactions were imminent.
Julia was resilient.
If she didn’t succeed at first, she could keep trying other tactics.
The driver in the accident had died on the spot, drunk driving; the accident was ruled unintentional, not murder.
If she hadn’t seen Arabella Shaw’s triumphant smile just before losing consciousness, Julia might have believed it was truly an accident.
She silently placed the photo in a drawer and locked it away.
Her heart ached subtly.
