Hellmode ~A Hardcore Gamer Becomes Peerless in Another World with Retro Game Settings~-Chapter 712: Where the pride matters...
With Allen's decision to add a new S-rank summoned beast, the time to decide the name draws near. But with the summoned beast's memory being all fuzzy, the dilemma arises; what to name him?
Allen momentarily wondered if he should leave the Nestirad name as it was, however Beast God Garm, who didn't fancy the name given by people of Divine Realm under governance of Creation God Elmea, hollered, baring his fangs.
«I do not care what name is given to me. However, the negation may or may not rise up when I reclaim my head.»
(Well, there's that too. Name can be changed later too, but I am not sure if Auxilion fits the bills too. It's too long.)
It seemed Allen decided to respect the will of Beast God, perhaps because of his support as per agreement.
"Hmm~. I would personally prefer a name with 3~4 letters. Something like Formar? Nah, too long."
"Hey, that friendly fire isn't allowed!"
Formar jabbed when he heard Allen. Though later ignored him, and contemplated possible shorter names.
"I got it. How about---«Leon»? Alright, this will be your name starting today!!"
(Well, it kinda rhymes with C-rank insect summon Peon... nah, it should be alright, probably.)
Allen raised his finger and weaved the new name for troubled God S summoned beast.
Promptly, Grimoire also registered the name «Leon».
«Leon... I do not have any memory, but I presume this must be linked to my name? You have my gratitude.»
(Alright, and now, I guess I should get him to return to Grimoire, and do the memory resonance. Skill's verification can be done anytime.)
One of the functions of Grimoire was it would store summoned beast's memory and experience when they turned into cards, and share Allen's memory too.
Since Leon now lacked any memory, he should've also not remembered any battle experience, which could be a problem during battle. So Allen decided to resonate with their memory, this way Leon would at least learn some common sense.
Not that it would solve the problem, but this became a major step in his training.
"Man, I must say your mind really operates in some different world, Allen. This is supposed to be a Supreme God for crying out loud, heck we barely defeated it too."
Meanwhile, Keel remarked, his voice laced with a mixture of sigh and surprise seeing how Allen took everything in stride.
«Then, we should move out quickly too.»
(So soon? I was thinking of inviting for tea. Or maybe, the circumstances don't allow it?)
"Lord Beast God Garm, thank you very much."
«Well, what might you be talking about? I just decided to stop by on whim since I was called.»
Allen expressed his gratitude, though Beast God Garm pretended as if he had a misunderstanding and made his way to the Paradise of Primordial Beasts.
«We shall also see ourselves out then. I hope you continue in your endeavour to be strong without losing your path.»
With her expression still a constant frosty iceberg, Lupto also gave her signal to depart. Aura and other Great Angels swiftly begin to unravel the barriers.
(Huh, they're also leaving already? And I had so many questions to ask... should I try it?...Alright, let's do it. You never know until you try, yeah.)
"Excuse me. Can I ask something?"
«What is it? You should know you won't get an answer to everything. But I am open to your story.»
"Where can I find the raw materials to construct remaining S-rank summoned beasts of Insect, grass, and stone?"
Now that he had God S, the next thing Allen diverted his thoughts to were the remaining three S-rank summoned beasts. And they, the S-rank summons, must require a soul as one of the items.
With Lupto's action so far, Allen could see she had been supporting his movements, hence he decided to ask.
«......»
«Lupto-sama, I would advise against the explanation.»
Lupto was about to speak, perhaps the answer, however Aura promptly tried to stop her.
«The Insect is in the Demon King Army you have fought so many times. It's up to you how you persuade the Insect, but that's definitely a candidate for the current S-rank summon beast.»
(Could it be... that rhinoceros beetle with metallic sheen like a guy? I think beating him to rag and being absorbed in sacred beast stones should work. I mean, we even have Leon now. It shouldn't be an impossible task. Heck, it might even go easier with Leon now with us.)
"Hey, hey, Allen. You should know that guy is one of the management pillars of the Demon King Army, right?!"
"So what? You may not know, Keel, but in my previous world, it was quite common to turn an enemy's piece into an ally."
---Well, in the game of Shogi, that is.
"No, I don't know! This means your world must have been devoid of commonsense."
«*Ahem*. We've yet to grasp any details about the Stone S, but Allen. I hope you also put effort into searching for the candidates.»
"Absolutely!"
(Huh, it seems like they didn't have any idea for Stone lineage huh.)
«And speaking of Grass S, Great Spirit God Easely informed me that divine seed has sprouted. If you have no urgent business to take care of, I believe you should make a round there and check out Divine Tree Pecktan.»
"Oh, it has?! That's great, really. Thank you."
(Oh man, I really forgot about this, didn't I? Well, Rosen and Fabul are the ones taking care of. So Pecktan huh? It's quite an adorable name.)
The name quite naturally rolled on his tongue, much like the naming convention of other summon beasts.
«We're leaving.»
After answering, Lupto gave her wings a flap, followed by the other three Archangels, and disappeared from the spot within blink of an eye.
With the up and down of the battlefield returning back to rest, a silence befell the place, before long, Allen spoke.
"Alright then, it's time we sketch out our next action. I will hand over Nestirad's heart to Goddess of Magic Isiris. It's been long enough, and now it's time for Cecil to join Extra Mode."
"True indeed. So, will we be following to help her out in levelling, and skill upgrades?"
"Unfortunately, not everyone, Sophie. We can't join Cecil in her trial. Instead, I want everyone to help Hero in trial."
"Ooh! So it's time to help out Helmios-san on his trial now that we're done huh."
"As informed earlier, we also need to meet the Great Spirit God. Sophie, Luck, and Formar---you three are coming with me for that. There's also the divine seed we need to check out on. And since we're on the way, maybe we can help Cecile with level up."
Allen wasn't much bothered with having more help for support. With Sophie and Luck's ability to materialise the Great Spirit, along with Formar with his divine skill and sacred artifact, that should be a cinch.
And thus, Allen explained his next plan to his teammates.
"Ah, geez. You really aren't intent on giving a break huh, but before that, I need to take a bath urgently. I am already dirtied by this marsh! Please seal away this skill from next time onward!"
Rosalia remarked in exasperation. It appeared Brid F's «Marsh» skill was a big no-no for her.
Since the battle was also over, the team returned to Abigail's fortress.
(We're back~.)
Abigail quickly took notice of their energetic pace, and the brisk voice of Allen's team---in their log of fight against Nestirad, they'd never returned with an uplifted mood until now---and took the inside stairs from the outer wall along with his dragonewts to dash in their direction.
(He may have become the protector of this fortress, but he looks more like the type of person to stand at the frontline.)
When he had first come to Divine Realm, Abigail was just a village chief, but with Allen's suggestion and hardwork, he was now here.
Dragon tribes in the Heavenly Sandal Kingdom had been divided into 10 groups, each tribe spearheading a defense force to hunt down the spirit beasts in the Divine Realm. This was why Dragonkin were also called guardians.
Abigail in the beginning had been acting as the leader of said guardians under the Somei Patriarch, and now, he had risen to become the leader of said guardian's leaders.
A guardian that oversees the 500,000 of its people was a rank above commander. It was quite an adequate post to hold when drawing back from the frontlines. To Allen, they were the allies who had saved them from big hassles.
"I hope it may not be presumptuous, but, did you perhaps succeed in... defeating Nestirad?"
He sure had guessed the outcome this time apparently from Allen and team.
"Yes. It had been quite a number of fights, but you can be assured that Nestirad is no more!"
The Spiritual Disturbance Zone itself hadn't vanished, but the greatest danger lurking amidst had been cleared out, which should allow Abigail and the Dragonewts to more actively handle it.
"A-are you sure? Err, I was wondering if there's any way to affirm this..."
"Affirmation?...Ah, I see."
With Allen's knowledge, Abigail was someone who took things seriously, and with acquaintance, he knew Allen wouldn't be joking, so it should be impossible that he was thinking like 'no way, you must be lying' or 'back up your claim with proof if that's true.'
It was either that he must have to affirm the proof as the protector of this place, or maybe he had yet to digest everything, getting to terms with the fact that their biggest threat was no longer around. And given Abigail's expression, a mixture of surprise, relief and shock, it had to be one of these reasons.
---*Thump-Thump*
Allen knew that much about him, hence he fetched the pulsating heart of Nestirad from his Grimoire and showed the fruit of their effort.
"T-This is true......."
Abigail extended his two hands just enough to barely reach the heart, and knelt down from the excessive shock. He lowered his head even below the eye level of Allen, who should've been two sizes smaller than him.
Dragonkins had the duty to hunt down spirit beasts in place of the people of Divine Realms. Sometimes, their target's strength were enhanced to even demi-god, or god class realm, influenced by the spiritual disturbance zone.
However in the Divine Realm where resources and materials were not sufficient, and equipment lacking variety and numbers, it would be a miracle if Dragonkins could defeat even a demigod class spirit once in a million chances.
When they'd be at such junctures, they bridged the gap with the corpse of their brethren. However, despite that, Nestirad was the terror that rendered anything they hurled at it useless, its power scaling to Supreme God level, or even beyond that.
Yet, the spectacle of miracle in front of their eyes had not not only Abigail, but even the dragonewts standing behind to be petrified in their spot, their body trembling like crazy.
"Oh, also you can freely announce Nestirad was defeated by collaboration of dragonkin and my team to help the people of Divine Realm."
(Fortune is to be shared. Gains are to be enjoyed together, huh. It's better to bring glory together. And moreover, it would be in favour of Dragonkins if they announce the news to people here instead of gods.)
"W-what're you..."
"It's a fact that the power we had acquired through spirit stones gathered by Abigail-san's force had been a key reason in our winning."
Exchanging faith points with Magic Goddess Isiris allowed them to acquire spiritual force recovery rings, skill experience acquisition equipment, and other beneficial goods.
Also, faith points were pivotal for Allen to improve skill's etc too. It was the culmination of everyone's effort that paved the path to Nestirad's demise, but more than that, Allen wanted Abigail to take pride in the result just as much as everyone.
However Abigail didn't appear amused by that.
"You may be right, and I dispatched our force to gather spirit stones. But this is the only extent of our help."
(Why so stubborn... But I guess, it should be impossible for them.)
"Are you sure? The general details can be 'Nestirad is defeated by the people hailing from Human Realm, supported by Dragonkins under the command of Goddess of Magic Isiris.' And at the end, the proof shall be offered to the same god. I am sure once this news spreads out among the Heavenly Sandal Kingdom, it would definitely make it to the ears of Heavenly King."
Allen tried to persuade Abigail, while the heart of Nestirad pulsated within his hands. This was an achievement where its reward would last even for several generations.
Heavenly King, who often had been in contact with gods, should be able to affirm the truth via First Angel Lupto.
There was no need to be actively present there, or show the proof, but this was something they could definitely be proud of. The status of Dragonkins was just rock bottom even compared to the Divine Realm's populace.
Abigail took a look at his bewildered subordinate. and turned to Allen, replying.
"...Allen-dono. We only speak of what we take pride ourselves in."
And thus, he rejected Allen's proposal.
