His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 102: Divine Ability Evolvement
Chapter 102 - Divine Ability Evolvement
Before Sophia could make contact, Shuri swiftly turned around and grabbed hold of Sophia's wrist, her grip firm and unyielding.
Karlene, who was about to interfere, froze in surprise.
Shuri's expression was stern, and Sophia gasped in shock, her wrist throbbing from the tight grasp.
"What do you think you're doing? Let go of me!" Sophia screamed, trying to free herself.
Shuri didn't budge, her eyes cold and unreadable.
"You're planning to harm Ran again," she muttered, her voice filled with an icy resolve.
Then, with a sudden burst of anger, Shuri pushed Sophia roughly, causing her to lose her balance and land on the floor with a scream.
"Ah!"
Everyone in the clinic was stunned by the scene. The usually calm and gentle Shuri was now displaying a fierce and aggressive side that no one had ever imagined. Even Karlene, who knew her sister better than anyone, felt a chill run down her spine.
Anger was an extremely rare emotion for Shuri, and this was only the second time Karlene had seen her like this. The first time was in junior high when Karlene was bullied, and just like today, Shuri had not hesitated to protect her loved ones.
As Sophia struggled to get up, Shuri moved swiftly, dropping to one knee and yanking Sophia's hair, causing her to scream in pain again.
"Ah! You bitch! What do you think you're doing? I'll sue you! Everyone here is a witness to your violence! Do you think you can get away with it?" Sophia spat out, her voice shrill with rage.
Shuri's expression remained unaffected by the threats.
"I won't let you pull the same stunt again," she said coldly, tightening her grip on Sophia's hair.
Sophia winced, a sudden, sharp pain shooting through her head, as if Shuri's touch was triggering something deeper.
Confused and in pain, Sophia struggled to break free, her voice rising in desperation. "What the hell are you talking about? Let me go! Someone, help!"
Ignoring her cries, Shuri leaned in closer, her voice a low whisper meant only for Sophia. "Listen, Miss Carter. Your scheme to get Ran to drink the elixir won't succeed this time."
Sophia froze, her eyes wide with shock. "H-How... How do you...?"
"Stay away from Ran unless you want to die in a foreign land. Though I won't mind that," Shuri replied, her tone dangerously calm.
With that, she released Sophia and stood up, her eyes never leaving Sophia's terrified face.
Turning to Karlene, Shuri said, "Lene, can I trouble you to escort Miss Carter out?" frёewebnoѵēl.com
Karlene finally regained her composure and replied, "Ah, yes."
She moved towards Sophia, who was still on the floor, shaking with a mix of fear and anger.
"Get up and go!" Karlene said firmly.
Sophia, trembling with a blend of fury and dread, struggled to her feet. She pointed a shaky finger at Shuri, her voice seething with rage. "You won't get away with this! I'll call the authorities and report your violence!"
Shuri looked at Sophia as if Sophia were a fool. "And I used to think you were a smart woman. I overestimated you."
With that, she turned and walked into the consultation room, her demeanor unshaken as she prepared to start work.
Bora and the other staff stood in stunned silence, watching as Karlene forced Sophia out of the clinic.
No one dared to speak up, the atmosphere thick with tension. As soon as Sophia was out of sight, Shuri began reviewing her schedule as if nothing had happened.
A few minutes later, Karlene returned to the consultation room, concern etched on her face.
"Sis, are you alright?" she asked gently.
Shuri looked up and offered her usual calm smile. "Why wouldn't I be? Do you think she'd really cause trouble for me and the clinic? Unless she's a fool, she won't report me. There's nothing to worry about."
Karlene sighed in relief. "You're right. Miss Carter's reputation is already in tatters. She had to flee from New Valley because of all the accusations against her. If I were in her shoes, I'd stay as far away from trouble as possible. But don't worry, even if she were to do something so stupid as to report you, you have me to defend you."
The rumors about Sophia masterminding Anne's murder and her numerous dark deeds continued to circulate online.
With the police investigating her involvement in hiring hitmen to kill Anne and Ian and framing Roy, no one would believe her claims against Shuri.
Moreover, Shuri now had much more powerful backing than Sophia could ever hope to contend with.
"Thanks, Lene," Shuri said with a smile before adding, "Don't you have a date with Mr. Roy? Don't keep him waiting."
Karlene furrowed her brows at her sister's remark. "How many times must I tell you there's nothing going on between us? I'm only helping him out temporarily with some legal matters at Paragon because the legal department in Sol City hasn't been fully established yet."
Suppressing a laugh, Shuri nodded. "Alright, I believe you. Since you have a 'business meeting' with Mr. Roy in an hour, you should get going."
Karlene gave Shuri an annoyed look, fully aware that her sister was teasing her. Not wanting to delay her appointment with Roy, she decided to leave.
"Fine, I'm going. Call me if that bitch comes looking for trouble again," she said before walking out of the room.
The moment Karlene left, Shuri's smile faded, replaced by an expression of frustration.
"How annoying..." she muttered under her breath.
Shuri had lost her temper the moment she grabbed Sophia's wrist and read her intentions.
Sophia had planned to use an elixir of favor, a forbidden drug conjured through dark arts, on Noran.
It was the same drug Sophia had used in their past life, which had failed to work on Noran.
Instead, it had caused him to lose consciousness, allowing Sophia to take intimate photos of them together in bed to blackmail him.
It appeared that Sophia and her family had been using this elixir to gain favor and influence, helping their business and relationships thrive.
With a powerful conjurer working for the Carters, producing such elixirs would enable Sophia to manipulate people despite her nasty character.
Shuri looked down at her palm, realizing her divine ability had grown stronger. She could now see more details than before. She understood that her power often grew and evolved to meet her desperate needs in critical situations.
In her first life, her divine ability emerged when Karlene was bullied and wrongfully accused of theft. She had desperately wished for the power to see into people's hearts to protect her sister, and somehow, that wish came true.
Later, when she needed to protect Noran from Lester and his men, her power evolved into something so dangerous that it ultimately cost her life.
In this life, her divine ability hadn't surfaced at first because she hadn't needed it. However, when Noran disappeared, her desperate need to find him reawakened her power.
Thinking back, Shuri realized that it might not have been a side effect that caused Sigmund those severe headaches, but her divine ability.
She had wanted to hurt Sigmund so badly for harming Noran that her power had manifested in a way she had never intended. The realization hit her hard—her divine ability had become dangerous.
"No, I can't do this," Shuri muttered to herself. "I promised to live a longer life with Ran. Let's stop here."
It was as if she were talking to her divine ability, which seemed eager to grow stronger within her. Shuri knew she had to control it, to keep it from consuming her and jeopardizing the future she wanted with Noran.
The news of Sophia pestering Shuri at her clinic reached Noran swiftly. As they drove back, his concern was palpable. "I should've ensured Sophia couldn't get near you. I've already sent someone to handle her."
Because of recent events, Noran hadn't paid much attention to the Carters, instead focusing all his resources on finding Sigmund.
Shuri's eyes widened. "She didn't actually do anything to me, Ran. You don't have to feel responsible. Despite her situation, the Carters are still backing her. Don't overdo it. Besides, she's after you, not me. You need to be careful."
"Don't worry, the Carters have no power over me," Noran said with unwavering confidence.
Shuri hesitated, then asked, "What exactly are you planning to do to Miss Carter?"
Noran looked thoughtfully at her. "What would you like me to do to her?"
Shuri, slightly taken aback by the question, was quiet for a moment before saying, "I'd prefer if she got a taste of her own medicine. But I ultimately don't want you to get involved with her."
Noran thought for a while and replied, "Alright, let's do it your way."
Shuri raised her brows at him. "My way? Are you planning to do something dangerous?"
Noran gently took Shuri's hand and smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry, she's no longer a threat to us, but since she's such a nuisance, I shouldn't let her bother you more."
"I'm not bothered by her, I'm only concerned about you," Shuri said, tightening her grip on his hand and looking at him earnestly.
She sensed something off about Noran lately, but couldn't pinpoint what it was and didn't want to use her divine ability on him.
"Ran, are you hiding anything from me?"
