House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men-Chapter 232: Targaryen Torment II
Chapter 232 - Targaryen Torment II
(Third Person POV)
Aemon crawled out of bed, leaving Daella under the sheets. It had been around an hour after the two had gotten intimate, and while Aemon was a bit more relaxed, he felt a bit guilty about doing that with his wife.
He sighed and rubbed his hair, putting his pants back on as he did so. Daella was sound asleep, a peaceful look on her face while she had her head on the pillow. He could not help but stare at her for a couple more seconds in pure silence.
"Hm." He said before walking towards the table and pouring himself a cup of wine, "There is not much I could do."
He had come to accept the fact that Daella was his wife. All of the events that had happened placed Aemon under some serious stress and Daella herself was aware of it. Aemon had let himself open up to her and the two of them came to an understanding before getting intimate.
He drank the wine from the cup as he looked back at her, seeing the way her hair was over her beautiful face. His wife had always been of a small stature even as a grown woman, but over the years, she's developed a beauty that attracted even Drakken. And Aemon was not realizing that she had been this beautiful.
He could not help but stare at her face in silence.
He then smiled slightly, "Mm..." He said, "I suppose..."
At that moment, Aemon felt relieved that the two of them were together. Deep inside, he cared a lot about his sisters, including the troublemaker Saera. And he was happy that Daella, of all sisters, was not in a marriage that she would regret. He knew that he would treat her good considering that he loved her dearly.
Aemon took a step forward and heard something behind him.
"Hm?" He said as he looked behind him, seeing that door to the chambers had creaked open slightly, "W-What? Who's there?"
He heard the sound of the curtains fluttering due to the night breeze, feeling said breeze on his bare upper body. He narrowed his eyes to see that there was a shadow on the other side of the door, visible through the small gap that was created.
"What...." He said as he inched closer to the sword that leaned on the couch, "Whoever is there.....back away....."
The door creaked open a bit and Aemon caught a glimpse of white hair before the shadow darted away out of sight.
Aemon grabbed the sword and immediately rushed out of the door quietly, trying not to wake Daella up. As he was in the hallway, he saw the small figure turn a corner and he quickly followed it.
"Hey!" He called out as he turned the corner, "Wait-"
He stopped completely, freezing solid as he stared at the back of a young white-haired boy. The boy had casual royal attire on him as he stood there, facing away from Aemon.
Aemon looked at the boy, "Who are you?"
The boy slowly turned around, revealing purple eyes which caused Aemon to begin to tremble in shock.
"Father...." Aenys Targaryen's voice was heard
"A-Aenys!" Aemon said as he dropped the sword, "I-It cannot be!"
"I.....am lost, Father...." Aenys said, his voice sounding a bit off than usual, "Where am I? It is dark...."
Aemon rushed over to him and crouched down, hugging him immediately as tears began to form in his eyes.
"Aenys!" He said as he could feel nothing but cold from his body, "Y-You're home! You are in King's Landing, you are in the Red Keep. Gods, Aenys....!"
"Father....where is mother...?" Aenys asked
"Y-Your Mother?" Aemon said as he grabbed him by the shoulders, "A-Aenys, she's....."
"Were you in bed with another woman?" Aenys asked him, his expression stone-cold
"D-Daella?" Aemon said, "S-She's my wife...."
"Wife....?" Aenys tilted his head
"Yes, Aenys...." Aemon said as tears ran down his cheeks, "Gods, Aenys...I have missed you so much, so so much....!"
"Mother is your wife." Aenys said, no emotion in his voice, "And you took another one? How cruel."
"Wait...what?" Aemon said, "No, Aenys, you do not understand. I-I had to....I did not want to.....Jocelyn...your mother....she...."
As he clutched his son's shoulders, Aemon's fingers began to dig deeper and deeper into the boy's flesh.
"What?" Aemon frowned, "Aenys....I....what?"
Suddenly, Aenys's entire body began to melt completely as Aemon widened his eyes.
"Faa....ther..." Aenys's voice was distorted, "You....betrayed....Mother....."
Aemon tried to hug his son as anxiety filled his body, "No no no!" He said as he hugged a clay-like matter, "No, Aenys!!"
"But you did." A bone-chilling voice spoke from the matter
"What?" Aemon said as his eyes were filled with horror, "Aenys!"
Suddenly, the matter had molded itself into a massive serpent-like creature with a dragon head. The creature then immediately wrapped itself around Aemon, constricting his arms to his body and tightened hardly around his body.
"A-Aghh!" Aemon said as he collapsed to the ground, feeling the creature's cold scales on his body, "W-what?! Aenys!"
"Aenys is no more.....only the ghost of his past remains." The Creature said as it leaned to his ear, "Do you truly think that because Drakken let you live, he would give you peace after what had happened? I.....will.....never...cease....."
Aemon began to shed tears, "No...." He said, "W-What.....?"
The Wyrm began to tighten its body hard against Aemon, nearly crushing his bones.
"Torment. That is your punishment, Aemon Targaryen. You will never see your son again and if you do....it will be me....." The Wyrm said, "Suffer....for eternity...as Jocelyn will...in the Seven Hells your gods have opened up for her!!"

"Tell me, Jaehaerys...." The silver wyrm said as it choked Jaehaerys, "Do you think that if your daughter lived, everything would have been different?"
Jaehaerys struggled to get free, "Y-You vile monster..." He managed as his face was turning purple, "Release me....!!"
"Do you think that if you've given in to Drakken, everything would be better?" The Wyrm said, "I'll give you the answer; Yes. The answer is Yes. If you give in and declare him as the True God.....then everything will be fine. Aemon will have his son and wife back, you might even get your Daughter back. That is the promise of the Trinity. Give in.....or SUFFER!!!"
"N-Never!" Jaehaerys managed, "I'll never give in!!"
"You are stubborn. And that is the cause of these problems." The Wyrm said, "Your daughters.....Drakken has his eyes on them....."
"And he will have them all!!"
