Chapter 555 - 555 Invincible: Beating Invincible, The Strength of the Waifus, Beating and Scolding Oliver, The Most Desperate Super Villain - Powerplex and Near the End.
The sun was high in the sky, and the wind moved the tree branches, giving the false impression that everything was fine. However, there was something different... it was the silence. No birds, no insects, no animals of any kind... each and every one of them had left the place in a hurry.
Invincible was wearing his blue and black suit, leaving behind his classic yellow one, while Kid Omni-Man wore his red and black superhero outfit. Allen, on the other hand, dressed as usual but this time without a coat or trench coat—just a black shirt rolled up at the sleeves. Allen never wore ties, always thinking they would be too formal for the nature of his work, and left two buttons undone. This more casual appearance signaled his willingness to fight at any moment if the situation required it.
Oliver observed Allen, calm and unconcerned. This attitude made him feel intimidated. When he looked at his brother, his teeth were clenched, with two veins popping out of his forehead. Oliver felt that this would not end well for his side. He even felt powerless because, despite being two, he didn't feel any advantage... He felt guilty for having dragged his brother into this situation... He was frustrated because, even at this moment, he didn't feel he had done anything wrong. He had only killed two villains. Wasn't that a good thing? Wasn't he supposed to be a superhero?
"Why..." Oliver murmured.
"Oliver?" Invincible turned to look at his brother.
"Why?!" Oliver exclaimed, tears of hatred in his eyes. "What did I do to deserve to be judged by you?! Were those blue villains so important?! I WON'T ACCEPT IT!"
"Oliver!" Invincible tried to stop his brother, but it was too late. No one could prevent Oliver from exploding.
"I won't accept your shit! I did nothing wrong, and I'm not going to stand here being judged by you, you piece of shit!"
Invincible stood frozen, shocked, and incredulous. Robot and the Guardians, who were watching from the headquarters, were in shock. Cecil hit the wall, watching as the worst possible situation unfolded without being able to stop it.
Allen remained silent with an expressionless look. The Chat didn't stay quiet with comments like "He's just a kid" and "He doesn't know what he's saying," as if trying to prevent Allen from killing him on the spot. On the other hand, some worried about Allen's current state, as if a kid's words would affect him. Of course, some women knew him better and weren't concerned, knowing that beneath the terrifying man everyone feared, there was a young man who had matured enough to be able to control his emotions if necessary.
Invincible, feeling a bad premonition, stepped in front of Oliver. But just a second later, he received a blow to the head with the Ru Yi Bang(false) before being sent flying to the left, destroying the entire valley in the process.
"Brother!" Oliver shouted but immediately froze as Allen was already standing in front of him. Kid Omni-Man paled with terror, but soon, his mind was flooded with rage, overcoming that fear, as if he couldn't accept that a human intimidated him.
Everyone, including Debbie from the GDA, watched as Oliver clenched his fist and, in the greatest madness ever, attacked Allen.
"Ah!"
"..." Allen didn't do anything to defend himself, didn't speak, and didn't move.
Oliver's fist hit his chest, and for an instant, a smirk of smugness and pride appeared on his face... But...
"Huh?..." Oliver froze. His breath was cut off. His mind stopped working. His fist had hit Allen's chest, and even there was a small shockwave that sent the wind in all directions. That's why Oliver couldn't explain it.
That fist, which had been able to pierce a Mauler's body and crush another's head, remembering that both Maulers could take tank bullets like a game, now rested on Allen's shirt without harming him. Not even a push.
"...!" Oliver tried to pull away, but it was too late. A fist nailed into his stomach. It was the hardest punch he had ever received, and it made him feel real pain, ancient and helpless pain.
Oliver fell to the ground, vomiting, tears in his eyes, unable to breathe.
...
"OLIVER!"
Invincible's scream echoed throughout the valley. When his foot hit the ground, it shattered as he used every ounce of his strength to charge at Allen.
Allen didn't even look at him, but that didn't matter. Invincible's rage pushed him to a new level of strength. He clenched his fist and threw it.
"Not so fast..." Artoria appeared in front of him and stopped Invincible's punch with her sword, sending air and golden energy flying in all directions.
"GET OUT OF THE WAY!"
Invincible screamed in vain. Artoria had no intention of allowing him to get closer to Allen. In that moment, Invincible understood that Allen never intended to fight him. He would only remove him from the path if his goal had always been Oliver.
"DAMN IT!" Invincible hit again, but once more, it was stopped by Excalibur.
Invincible wanted to scream once more, but Albedo appeared behind him with glowing eyes filled with rage. Using her giant battle axe, she struck Invincible's side and sent him flying a couple of kilometers (1.26 mi) into the forest. Upon landing, Invincible got back up and attacked again, but this time, he didn't even get close before receiving a punch to the face from Jalter. Immediately after, his shoulder was cut by a sword that froze, and a railgun appeared in his stomach, discharging electricity before shooting.
Invincible vaguely saw the figure of several women. They were like an impermeable defense to reach Allen.
"I can't lose consciousness. Not this time!"
"That's the spirit!" Once he recovered, he saw many Kurumi appear in front of him, all holding weapons and shooting at him without hesitation while laughing with a "Kihihihi"—the kind of laughter Kurumi used in her most sadistic moments. Invincible braced himself to take the bullets, knowing that normal ones wouldn't do anything, but he quickly regretted it. These bullets managed to pierce his skin and hurt him.
"Ahhh!"
Invincible screamed in pain, but his fear grew as well because, instead of approaching Oliver, he kept retreating further.
Kurumi mocked him, "Kuhihihi, what a shame~, if it were just one of us, your fight might've been fair until a certain point..."
"Fuck you!" Invincible couldn't stop himself from insulting her. This made Kurumi's gaze turn cold, but she didn't attack, as it was no longer necessary.
"...?!" Invincible froze, looking terrified as a woman in black emerged from his shadow, placing a wand at the back of his neck. She blinked coldly and said, "Sleep."
"No... Oliver..."
Invincible fell unconscious while Cecil observed the women Allen had with him. It was an absurd image—each of them seemed to come from a different world, and that was indeed the case. But it wasn't until this moment that Cecil realized he didn't know how many worlds Allen had been to.
"Brother!" Oliver watched helplessly as Invincible fell, defeated, and the worst part was that it wasn't because of Allen himself, but because of mysterious women.
Allen silently looked at Oliver before speaking for the first time since this conflict began.
"You asked why I was doing this, what the reason was, or if those Mauler twins were so important..." Allen narrowed his eyes, "It seems we need to clarify an essential point from the start!"
"Ahhh!"
From the ground, Oliver screamed and, with tears in his eyes, attacked in a fit of rage. Allen smiled and dodged the punch, then elbowed him in the back, making him scream in pain before falling to the ground, writhing.
"You brat, this isn't about your actions. It's not about judging what you did that day but about your personality, your morals, your limits, your goals... Actions indeed say a lot about a person, but you can't rely only on that to understand them..."
"Ah! You bastard! Stop talking to me like I'm an idiot!"
Oliver complained from the ground as he supported himself with his hand, trying to get up. Allen noticed that Oliver was thinking of attacking him again and kicked him in the side, sending him rolling across the ground.
Tony – Dude, is it really necessary to be this cruel?
Annie – Allen, can't you just chain him up or something?
"I'm sorry, but not this time..." Allen murmured as he slowly walked toward Oliver.
Cecil glanced at Debbie, who was clenching her fists until they bled. Donald clenched his fists, feeling that they shouldn't let her see this, after all.
Oliver crawled, looking at Allen with hatred and fear. "Why? Why are you bothering us?! There are tons of villains out there, why don't you go after them, bastard?!"
"Because you're strong..."
"Huh?!" Oliver's eyes widened as he stopped moving.
Allen's gaze became serious, "You're only six months old but you've already killed two supervillains so strong that they've even defeated half the Guardians of the Globe in the past..."
Oliver, forgetting the pain, sat on the ground, staring at Allen, trying to understand why he was being praised at this point. To everyone's surprise, Allen sat down on the ground beside Oliver.
"Oliver, society doesn't have laws to deliver justice; it has laws to function. But when an individual gains enough power, whether political, financial, social, or in this world, pure power, the laws, rules, and norms become more of an option."
"..."
"I know you didn't kill the Maulers with bad intentions, I know you're not an evil person. But anyone would be tempted to disobey what they don't think is right... and for someone like you, who has the strength to be like your brother, people will fear you, they will hate you, and they will try to control you. That would lead to a dangerous situation..."
"Is it wrong? Am I wrong for killing villains?"
"I can't answer that question impartially, but one thing is for sure: you're very young, and many of the things that go through your mind are not always right..."
"Don't adults make mistakes?!" Oliver frowned.
Allen chuckled. "Maturing won't stop you from making mistakes, but maturity will indeed lessen them... Besides, a child often doesn't know the full extent of the consequences of their actions..."
"So what should I do?"
"Learn... you need to learn a lot about everything. You need to try to understand why people do what they do, and most importantly, you need to learn that every action you take has a consequence, whether good or bad."
Oliver lowered his head, remembering how the Guardians weren't scared of him killing the Maulers, but because he had done it to one who had already surrendered and was begging for his life.
Allen stood up and looked at Oliver seriously. "Kid Omni-Man."
"Yes?!"
Hearing Allen's tone, Oliver felt he couldn't disobey. He stood up and gave a military salute like he had seen on TV.
"From now on, I recognize you as a superhero. I will watch you like any other superhero, and if you commit atrocious acts, you'll have to deal with me."
"Yes!" Oliver trembled, paling.
"I can't hear you..."
"Sir, Yes, Sir!"
Allen smiled and pointed at Oliver before using his Chi to heal him. Although he wasn't as injured as he appeared.
Debbie, seeing the result, sighed in relief and knelt as if a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
"Oliver," Invincible landed with a calm yet somewhat dejected look from his defeat.
"Brother!"
Oliver was glad to see Invincible relatively okay, even though Albedo had broken one of his ribs. As soon as Mark regained consciousness, he flew toward Oliver, only to overhear Allen's conversation. Apparently, from the beginning, he misunderstood Allen's intentions.
"I..."
Mark didn't know what to say at that moment. Should he admit his mistake and apologize? Was there something he should do to make up for it?
"Invincible, you don't need to worry. You did the right thing. After all, if Oliver had been different, the outcome would've been the same as you saw in your nightmares..."
Allen watched Oliver from start to finish and saw his genuine concern for his brother, and more importantly, Oliver was not fighting to kill him but to survive.
After Allen's words, Invincible fell silent. He still wanted to thank Allen for not locking them up or worse, killing them.
...
Allen started to walk away from there, "Don't worry... from the beginning, this wasn't a normal fight."
In this world, regardless of his attitude or asshole tendencies, Allen had decided to act more as a judge than a dictator.
So he gave the accused party a chance to defend themselves. This led to his peaceful resolution... NOT!
Some were not satisfied with this outcome. Allen's actions and final decision had pushed someone to the limit, someone who had been watching and waiting to see how this would end.
...
"...!"
Allen sensed a change in atmospheric pressure. It was instantaneous, and although several dolls tried to intervene, an invisible external force pushed them away.
Without thinking, Allen used his Dragon Staff to block the incoming attack. The impact shattered the ground, creating a shockwave that pushed everything around it, destroying it.
'Heat?' Allen frowned at his unknown attacker.
The mysterious figure was a Caucasian man with blonde hair and green eyes. He was thin yet muscular. He wore a tight black suit with red details. The suit had a red shoulder pad with a high collar, red cuffs on the arms, and red stripes running down the sides of his torso and legs. He had energy storage discs around his body (back, arms, waist, and abdomen), which were glowing at that moment. His gray boots dug into the ground as he tried to push against Allen.
A name came to Allen's mind, and a lot in the Chat.
MJ – It's Powerplex!
Gwen – Wait, he shouldn't be here... his story shouldn't have progressed so fast.
"I DIDN'T ACCEPT IT!"
Before Allen could think, Powerplex, with a clenched fist full of energy, struck Allen a second time, creating a crack in the Ru Yi Bang.
"..."
"WHY?! WALKER, TELL ME WHY YOU LET THESE MURDERERS GO!"
Powerplex began to surround himself with terrifying amounts of energy. His eyes were crying as they lit up with power. Allen, furious, pushed him back and kicked him in the face, sending him flying, but not knocking him down. Almost immediately, Allen appeared above Powerplex and kicked him so hard that the force created a massive crater.
*AUGE!*
Silence fell as Allen landed at the edge of the crater. Seeing the Chat, he remembered what he knew about Powerplex: a tormented man who couldn't stop obsessing until he fell into madness. It all started that day Omni-Man attacked Invincible and they came to Chicago. Allen still remembered that day when he saved whoever he could. But it seemed this tragedy couldn't even be avoided.
Powerplex grabbed his own bleeding face, but there was no pain; in his eyes, he could only see the image of his sister, who had died, and his niece, who was in a coma at the hospital.
"It's so unfair... what did Gretchen do to deserve something like that? Why can the father of these two have a happy family while mine is torn apart by pain..."
Allen squinted, with a faint smile that slowly faded away. It was hard to believe, but Powerplex was conscious after Allen had kicked him; there was something different about him. The Chat, which could hear Powerplex's words, fell silent. It seemed this man had been driven to desperation after losing someone in one of the many tragedies of this world.
Kara – I've said it before, but this world seems harsher with civilians than ours...
Raven – A golden rule among heroes is that you can't save everyone...
Tony – ...
Superman – If there's one thing I've learned in all my years wearing the suit, it's that sometimes it only takes one tragedy or one bad day to turn a man into a villain...
Batman – Allen, this guy... he won't be under the will of the world.
Allen's eyes widened upon hearing Batman's words.
'System!'
[Yes!... Physical Level: 51 (Hidden Level: 99 > 999 > 9,999 >... ) shit, Allen, the will is interfering!]
Before Allen could move, something wrapped around him as if trying to suppress his power. Allen immediately used "The Absolute" to break free from the world's influence, but it was too late.
"What is a superhero, Walker?"
In an instant, Powerplex appeared in front of Allen with a look filled with hatred and desperation. He clenched his fist once more.
"WHY CAN INVINCIBLE LIVE A HAPPY ENDING AND I SEE MY NIECE IN A DAMN HOSPITAL?!"
Allen took the hit with the Ru Yi Bang, but the staff broke instantly, and Allen was struck in the face. To everyone's surprise, Powerplex even knocked out a couple of Allen's teeth, which flew out.
'Ugh... I hate the will of Invincible,' was the last thought Allen had before being sent flying across a valley and a mountain range, destroying everything in his path.
Powerplex glared at Invincible with hatred, but at that moment, he felt he couldn't breathe and looked down to see the remaining Ru Yi Bang lodged in his chest.
"It's a lie... I can't die..." Powerplex fell to the ground once more, feeling hatred and frustration as his vision darkened.
===
A/N: Well, with Oliver's problem solved and the brief appearance of Powerplex, Invincible is nearing the end... at least the third season, and with it this arc.
