I'm the Villainess in the Apocalypse-Chapter 523. Derek and Brenda
Chapter 523: 523. Derek and Brenda
Walking back to the research institute, Derek was still thinking about his conversation with Sean.
It was going well.
He was prepared for a fight, but if there was no fight, then it was also good. Nearing the research institute, Derek saw a familiar woman standing there. She glanced in his direction indifferently and the guards around her seemed to want to move to apprehend him.
"Do you really want to make the research institute your enemy?" Derek asked with a light tone. His hand was ready to make use of the item he had kept.
Even if it was not used against Sean, it could be used against these people around Brenda.
Tsk, tsk.
It has been a long time ever since they saw each other, but he could see that the arrogance on Brenda’s face was getting worse and worse. It was clear that Brenda had no plan to let him off in the slightest bit.
However, it was too close to the research institute.
If Brenda were to attack him here, it was estimated that the Davis Family would be put on the blacklist for the research institute.
Brenda frowned, glancing at the research institute behind her.
The guards who were in the research institute had already been prepared to make a move. Each and every single one of these researchers were important asset for their base. It was impossible for them to let others attack these researchers.
Even if Derek was only an assistant researcher, he was still a member of the research institute.
These guards were paid to protect the researchers.
So no matter what happened, they would have to protect Derek and fight against Brenda and her guards.
Johan, who was among the few people whom Brenda brought, looked at the guards and then at Derek. There was a distance between Derek and the guards, so theoretically, their attacks would reach Derek faster.
At least, the first attack.
The subsequent attack would probably be blocked by the guards who came from the research institute.
However, it was enough.
Derek was not an awakened who focused on combat and even a little mistake in front of other awakened could cost him his life. Yet, Derek was not worried in the slightest bit.
It was as if he had known that they would not make a move.
Or...
He had a way to defuse their attack until the guards arrived.
Whichever one it was, this young man was not that bad. Too bad that Johan didn’t really have time to appreciate it.
He wanted to focus more on his own search towards the person who killed his younger brother and killed that person. The other matter didn’t seem to be that important for Johan.
Brenda frowned. "Come with me. I want to talk with you."
"No." Derek shook his head. "If I’m far away from the research institute, who knows what you’re planning to do. The reputation of the Davis Family was not very good, Miss Brenda."
Brenda snorted.
There were also some people who were passing by and saw this commotion. Upon hearing Derek’s words, their gaze towards Brenda seemed to contain a trace of hostility.
The drama brought by the Davis Family inciting the big mutated animals coming to the base has only happened recently. Many people lost their loved ones and many others have their friends or even families staying in the hospital to recuperate.
Right now, many people have extremely bad impression of the Davis Family.
Even the recruits that the Davis Family worked hard to recruit into the family seemed to be unwilling to say that they were part of the Davis Family’s force.
Even if they were only recruited...
But this reputation was really bad that they would be avoided by many other people in the base.
Not everyone could withstand that kind of treatment.
Brenda could sense the other people’s dissatisfaction towards her, but in order to achieve her goal, she could only look at Derek.
"I just want to talk to you about... personal matter."
"I have nothing to talk with you," Derek responded calmly, not planning to give any face to Brenda in the slightest bit.
In the first place, the two of them used to have good relationship. But what this woman did made him angry and frustrated, so he refused to even acknowledge that little bit of relationship.
Because Derek knew very well that it would be impossible for things to remain the same anymore.
He was no longer the same person as he used to be.
While she....
Was still the same b*tch.
"Even if it involves the things you lost in our apartment back then?" Brenda asked, her tone was firm.
Derek arched his eyebrows.
He wanted to slap his younger self for falling for a b*tch like this. He was so blind that he was willing to do anything for Brenda only to realize that he was nothing more than a fling that she kept in order to entertain her.
There were many men who would favor Brenda and tried their best to court her from all walk of life.
This made Derek an inconspicuous one.
Too many people were able to enter Brenda’s eyes, but how many of them were truly trusted by Brenda?
None?
It was more likely.
She didn’t care for them and only make a good use of them in the name of relationship. And it was not one relationship but one woman with several men at once. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Derek felt sick when he thought about the past.
If it didn’t happen...
He would have most likely followed the same path as he used to be and could only watch as everything was destroyed.
So no more.
He would never trust Brenda.
"You mean, the things you stole." Derek sneered. He knew very well that Brenda would be interested in his things, so he prepared that thing.
And she didn’t disappoint him.
The greedy woman took the bait and left him.
