Chapter 522: 522. Confidence

Anna was thinking on their way and turned her head to look at the side.

Dylan and Kitty were still arguing as they passed by the gate and Anna noticed the familiar person not far away, turning into the alleys.

’Derek?’

Anna had seen Derek a few times with Alicia in the research institute, so she could recognize him if she saw him.

But the road where Derek headed was not the research institute.

Not to mention, Anna knew that Derek refused to leave the research institute some time ago because he didn’t want to meet with someone outside. Now, Derek was coming out on his own.... ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

She wondered for a moment before turning her head away and followed Dylan and Kitty.

No matter what Derek was doing, it was not her business.

She would not pry to his private matters.

...

Derek’s side

Walking out of the research institute, Derek walked in the familiar road. The five big families have their own street and roads for most of their family members.

Of course, there were also those who were not part of them and still here.

Such as researchers, soldiers, and so on.

But in any way, most of the houses that belonged to specific big family were placed in a single block. This would make it easy for them to find them and if they didn’t know the specific number, they could ask for road.

For Derek, he didn’t need it.

Even though he rarely came out of the research institute, he still knew the road around here and walked directly in the shortest route to the location he wanted to come.

"You’re here."

There was already a young man waiting by the alley and when he saw Derek, he nodded at the other party. However, there was gloominess within his eyes that could be seen by others very clearly.

Derek shrugged and then waved his hand and a box fell on the ground between the two of them.

"What you ask and with this, our transaction is clear."

Sean glanced at the box and then raised his head to look at Derek. "You, a weak person who only has space ability, sure are brave to come here on your own."

Derek smiled faintly. "If I want to achieve something, I have to take a risk. Besides, you can’t defeat me, Sean."

Hearing the words, Sean’s eyes narrowed.

Derek’s confidence and the fact that he was willing to come here on his own meant that Derek was very confident in himself.

Sean was already very powerful among the leaders in City A Base.

Even though he didn’t have the confidence to defeat the extremely large mutated animal on his own or even when leading the team, but he was sure that he could defeat most other awakened.

Derek was known to only has the space ability.

Through the registration form and his own daily habit, it could be concluded that Derek should only be space ability awakened and had no other special ability or awakening other ability.

But he could stay confident in front of Sean.

This made Sean unsure.

Derek should have something that he himself didn’t know.

"Alright." Sean took the box and then turned around. "After I deal with them, I’ll deal with you. You should have known this, don’t you?"

Derek chuckled.

They were playing openly because the schemes simply didn’t work for them. And for Derek, it was better for things to be this way rather than the two of them hitting each other on the back when they were back or so on.

Because in Derek’s opinion, Sean wouldn’t be able to do anything to him.

Of course, he had his basis for confidence.

Hiding the item in his hand, Derek turned around and walked out of the alley once more. The people in the research institute was full of craze because of the extremely large mutated animal’s part that was presented to them.

They wanted to research more of these extremely large mutated animal’s part that they had.

Because many other researchers couldn’t even get their hands on the materials.

This made researchers in various bases to be jealous.

But what could they do?

The extremely large mutated animal couldn’t be defeated so easily. It was not like they could just send anyone to hunt the extremely large mutated animal or they would end up dead.

Preparations were necessary.

So far, there were only a handful of extremely large mutated animal that has been defeated while the rest was only spotted but not taken care of.

Naturally, the main reason was because the team sent to hunt the extremely large mutated animal was wiped out.

The extremely large mutated animal is strong.

It was the cognition that everyone understood.

But it was only recently they realized that these extremely large mutated animal also had their own ranks. Some extremely large mutated animals were much stronger than the other extremely large mutated animals, so it would be difficult for them to defeat them.

Some extremely large mutated animals were marked as highly dangerous and any contact would be dangerous.

If possible, they hoped these extremely large mutated animals would not disturb them.

At least, not before they had enough power to defeat these extremely large mutated animals.

Since City A Base has managed to obtain parts of the extremely large mutated animal for research, the researchers were all going crazy to investigate many things. Some bones that had been checked and couldn’t be used anymore were thrown as fertilizer.

It was Derek’s job to take care of the fertilizer.

He took a short break to pay a visit to Sean.

’The internal conflict should intensify in the next period of time.’

Derek walked back leisurely.

He didn’t care too much about how many people would die in this conflicts. Because he knew that if the conflicts were not resolved sooner or later, there would be more people dying.

Because there was no way these families could ever reach an agreement with each other.
