Chapter 128: The Overwhelming Power of Light

The moment the golden light sphere shot from Adam’s hand it moved at the speed of light.

It targeted the first person standing in the front line of the advancing mob of upperclassmen. That person was Samba the arrogant representative of the Red Team.

Samba who was still standing behind the magical defensive barrier that his faction had erected had absolutely no time to react.

The golden sphere a blur of incandescent energy a point of pure bright light crossed the distance of the courtyard in an instant.

It slammed into the transparent shimmering barrier that was meant to protect them.

There was no grand explosion. There was no prolonged struggle between the attack and the shield.

The moment the golden sphere of light made contact with the defensive barrier the barrier simply shattered.

It didn’t crack or break into pieces. It just ceased to exist.

It dissolved into nothingness as if it were made of a fine mist or smoke.

It just vanished.

Before anyone in the courtyard could even register that the powerful defensive barrier was gone the golden light sphere continued on its path. It struck Samba squarely in the chest.

The force of the impact was immense. Samba was launched backward.

He was like a human cannonball hurtling across the courtyard.

He flew through the air for several meters. He finally crashed violently into the distant wall of the dormitory building.

The sound of the impact was a sickening thud that echoed in the stunned silence of the courtyard. It was a terrible sound.

But Adam’s light attack was far from over. It had only just begun.

As Samba’s crumpled form slid down the dormitory wall leaving a small mark on the stone the golden sphere of light reappeared.

It had carried Samba across the courtyard.

Now it hovered in the air seemingly unaffected by the powerful impact.

It then changed its trajectory its direction. It turned its attention to the remaining terrified members of the Red Team. They had watched their leader be defeated in a single hit.

The golden sphere began to move in a dizzying zigzagging motion.

It was a blur of light ricocheting through the ranks of the red-banded students.

It moved so fast it was impossible to follow with the eye. With each change in direction it struck another student. The kinetic force the pure power of the attack sent them flying in different directions.

They were scattered like bowling pins being hit by a bowling ball. They flew through the air screaming and shouting.

Within a matter of just a few seconds every single member of the Red Team had been struck by the golden sphere. And every single one had been thrown a considerable distance.

Adam had meticulously designed this attack. He had calibrated it.

He had set it not to be lethal. He wasn’t trying to kill these students.

He was merely trying to neutralize them to show them his power.

The golden sphere was calibrated to impart massive kinetic force. It was made to use its own momentum to send them flying to incapacitate them without causing any fatal injuries.

They would be bruised and hurt but they would not die.

The remaining members of the other factions—the Blue Team the Black Team and the Golden Team—had just enough time to witness the swift and utter devastation of the Red Team.

They stared in disbelief at the scene before them. Where once their comrades the powerful Red Team had stood now there was only a scattered mess of groaning bodies.

Some of them were unconscious.

Some of them were writhing on the ground in pain.

They couldn’t comprehend what had just happened. One second the Red Team had been standing right beside them.

They were a powerful unified force ready to attack. The next second they were all incapacitated. They were strewn across the courtyard like discarded dolls. It was a terrifying sight.

The golden sphere of light its task with the Red Team completed then shifted its target. It turned its attention to the members of the Blue Team.

The blue-banded students had been watching the complete destruction of the Red Team.

They had seen it with a mixture of shock and a dawning horror. They were completely unprepared for what was coming.

They hadn’t even had time to erect their own defensive barrier. The initial assault on the Red Team had been so swift and so overwhelming. They had been too stunned to react.

Before they could even begin to process the impending danger the golden sphere of light was upon them.

Once again it moved in a rapid zigzagging pattern. It was a blur of destructive golden light.

It weaved through their ranks like a deadly serpent. One by one it struck each member of the Blue Team.

The force of the impacts sent them flying. Their bodies arced through the air before they crashed hard to the ground.

The process was brutally efficient. It took only a few seconds. The Blue Team was neutralized just as quickly and just as decisively as the Red Team had been. They were all on the ground groaning in pain.

Without pausing for even a moment the golden sphere then turned its attention to the Black Team the faction led by Shin.

The result was exactly the same. The zigzagging blur of light tore through their ranks. And in a matter of a few more moments the proud black-banded students met the same fate as their red and blue-clad counterparts.

Their bodies were sent flying through the air. Their proud faction was dismantled in an instant.

The courtyard was now littered with the groaning incapacitated forms of three of the Academy’s four most powerful student factions.

Only the Golden Team was left standing. The scene was one of complete and utter chaos and defeat for the upperclassmen.
