Chapter 48: She is...?

In Silas Vane’s villa, three figures sat in the master living room and conversed. The planning for their strike was progressing, and now it was time to invite the main weapon.

Silas, the introverted billionaire, sat on his golden high chair, exchanging glances with Kurtis and his son, Luka.

"I can now assure you, brother, that Luka has totally broken loose of his connection with Royce. I made sure of that," Kurtis said with a smile, giving Luka a smooth gaze.

"That’s good to hear. I was actually wondering why my son was being a fool... But thankfully, he wasn’t a fool for too long," Silas said, striking a glance at Luka, who remained silent as he watched them.

"He was initially maintaining the glory of a long friendship, brother. You can’t blame him for that. I remember when Father asked you to leave Eddie back in Millsan. He was your best friend then, and you had quite a hard time breaking the friendship. Same thing happened to your son," Kurtis said.

Silas also nodded, remembering what his big brother talked about.

It was indeed true...

A long friendship is as strong as a concrete pillar and can be very hard to break.

Even until now, Luka was still feeling bad about having left Royce, but all he knew was that he had done the right thing... To him, as Kurtis had advised...

"Anything I do for my family is the right thing."

"So, now that we have all things covered, we need to summon Jayden. Without him, this isn’t going to be possible," Silas said.

"True," Kurtis nodded and turned to Luka. "Have you been successful enough to get his number yet?"

Luka’s face suddenly turned dark.

"Err... Nope?" He furrowed his brows.

A scoff from his father’s angle sounded, but Luka only shrugged.

"Fine... I’ll try to call him over," Kurtis said and grabbed his phone, dialing Jayden’s number.

BUZZ! BUZZ!

BUZZ! BUZZ!

BUZZ! BUZZ!

{Call Ended}

"Tshhh... He’s not picking," Kurtis glared at the phone screen and dialed the number again.

BUZZ! BUZZ!

BUZZ! BUZZ!

{Call Ended}

Same result, no answer.

"Ah shit... What the hell is he doing with his phone?" Kurtis began to grow frustrated, dark glints appearing at the corners of his eyes.

"I can just go to his home and fetch him," Luka offered, glancing at his father and uncle in turn.

"Do you think he’s the kind of man that stays home twenty-four hours without doing anything, just like you?! If you don’t know, he now runs Zintech Automobile, and you know what that means," Silas bellowed at his son, who froze slightly.

"Hey, easy, Silas. You don’t have to be hard on Luka. He is your heir and only son," Kurtis cut in, warning his brother.

Silas only shook his head and turned away.

"Even if he comes, we still have to convince him to go with our own plans. He’s quite a stubborn man, and that’s a great quality of a powerful tycoon. But... we need him fully. He has to be part of every move," Kurtis said.

"Don’t worry, Uncle. Dad," Luka gave them both an assuring glance.

"I already made good research, and I came up with a great idea..." Luka said with confidence.

It was the first time he was this bold in their joint conversation.

"I’m listening," Silas spoke.

"Okay. There can only be one way to make Jayden join us fully. He might be stubborn and feel independent, that’s why we are going to bring someone quite important to him... Someone that would give him the motive to join us fully," Luka said.

Kurtis and Silas exchanged confused glances as their brows furrowed.

"Who’s that?" they asked in unison, their eyes filled with insane curiosity.

With a smile crossing his lips, Luka muttered:

"She is on her way..."

******

Jayden was in his car heading back to the penthouse when he began receiving calls from Kurtis. After their first meeting, he had thought about the whole scenario and had had doubts about following them, for real.

One mind told him he could avenge his father himself, and the other said otherwise.

Jayden was locked in a pool of absolute confusion, but he knew he had to make a decision quickly enough.

After ignoring three straight call attempts, he finally decided to pick up after Kurtis called again ten minutes later.

"Hey, Mr. Jayden. How are you doing?"

The voice of the middle-aged man hit his ears and only made him frown. No matter how he wanted to see this, he kept believing that the Vanes had a hand in his father’s blasphemy.

Jayden sighed. "What do you want?"

He had to be rude.

This was one of the ways to know if the Vanes needed him a lot. And of course, he knew they did...

The Vanes knew the only way they could bring down the Kingsleys was to bring up the Emerson Cole Fraud case again, and without him, that would be impossible.

"We really need you at Silas Vane’s villa at the moment. 17 Vane Estate. The villa is the one with iron walls," Kurtis said.

"Who told you I’m coming?" Jayden asked, his tone sharp.

"Because you really would love to see someone here... Trust me, you can’t afford not to be here," Kurtis said with a slight laugh before ending the call.

Jayden glared at the phone screen, wondering.

"Who is he talking about? Is he referring to Silas?! That bastard! How would I love to see a murderer?" Jayden gave his phone a short look and tossed it to the side.

"No, it can’t be Silas. They know I would never find pleasure in seeing any of the Vanes. It might be someone else," Jayden had a second thought at once.

It almost took him five minutes to decide whether to go or not, but then he had to.

He turned and headed to the Vane Estate, hoping he actually saw what he would love to see.

"If they are joking with me, I’m definitely going to smash their skulls," he angrily said.

This was because half of him really didn’t want to be there.

Within thirty minutes, he arrived at Vane Estate.

Upon reaching the villa and entering the building, he was led to the room where the Vanes were waiting.

Upon entering, his view started with Kurtis, then Luka, then Silas...

And then a woman with an almost familiar face that made his heart race.

Jayden’s eyeballs almost popped the moment he recognised her.

"Mom?"
