Journey to the West: I have Nine Golden Crows Inside Me-Chapter 121 The World Has Three Treasures
Chapter 121: Chapter 121 The World Has Three Treasures
In Jiang Chen’s mind, it felt as if a cool sensation was soothing over him, gradually bringing him back to normal.
It was the power of Incense Willpower!
The strength supporting him was the very basis on which the gods relied for survival, the incense willpower.
Once he regained consciousness, Jiang Chen came to realize the origin of that mysterious power. The Incense Willpower, born from the power of incense.
living beings express their prayers and wishes, conveying them to the gods through the incense in hopes of receiving divine blessings. The supernatural power produced in this process is referred to as the incense willpower.
This power originates from the hearts of all beings and is incredibly mysterious. From the perspective of Divine Dao, it is the source of the gods’ power and their foundation.
For cultivators, the blessings of incense enhance their state of mind, harmonizing it further with Heaven and Earth, which in turn accelerates the progress of their cultivation.
The Incense Willpower can be compared to the weakened Profound Yellow Merit, serving the same function even though its effectiveness is significantly less.
However, although the Incense Willpower is inferior to the Profound Yellow Merit, compared to it, it has a massive advantage - it is easier to acquire.
Whenever incense is offered, one can gain the blessings of the Incense Willpower. The more people offering the incense, the more significant the accumulated Incense Willpower.
Even without an Innate Treasure to suppress Fate, Buddhism can thrive based on the vast Incense Willpower. This is why it pays so much attention to spreading its faith.
Compared to them, Daoism, which uses an Innate Treasure to suppress Fate, is much more casual towards the Incense Willpower, not contesting or seizing it.
Believe if you will, leave if you do not.
Furthermore, because of its similarity to Profound Yellow Merit, Incense Willpower is also referred to as the Human Path Merit.
The Human Path encompasses all spirits, and since Incense Willpower is born from the hearts of all spirits, it is appropriate to categorize it as Human Path Merit.
Profound Yellow refers to Heaven and Earth. The Profound Yellow Merit originates from Heaven and Earth and serves as their foundation, a power that belongs to the Heavenly Dao.
...
...
"So, this is Incense Willpower?"
"Truly amazing."
Feeling the changes within himself, Jiang Chen could not help but praise. Enriched by the Incense Willpower, he felt that his cultivation speed had increased by about 30%.
Thirty percent might not seem like much, but how much Incense Willpower did he possess to begin with? Just a tiny bit.
If such a small amount could increase his cultivation speed by thirty percent, then if he accumulated more Incense Willpower in the future, like the vast amount wielded by Buddhism, wouldn’t he be able to ascend straight into the heavens then and there?
Thinking about this, Jiang Chen could not resist the idea of collecting Incense Willpower.
There are three treasures in the world: Fate, Merit, and Incense.
Having these three treasures can boost one’s cultivation speed. Among them, Fate is the greatest, followed by Merit, with Incense being the least.
The high level ones seek Fate, like the high and mighty saints who grasp the fate of Heaven and Earth.
The middle level ones seek Merit, like the Jade Emperor, the Four Majestics, the Three Emperors and Five Sovereigns, Earth Immortal’s ancestors and such, those Great Divine Transcendents either rule Heaven and Earth or suppress a region, accumulating Boundless Merit.
Those at the lower level seek Incense, primarily figures like Buddha and Xuan Du, who are the rising stars of the Three Realms.
Because they were born late, Fate and Merit had already been almost entirely divided amongst their seniors, leaving none for them.
Because of this, they could only focus on the path of incense. The path of incense was able to flourish because of their covert encouragement.
There was no choice, the benefits in Heaven and Earth were set, and they could not compete with their seniors, so they had to broaden their thinking and find solutions elsewhere.
The strong always grow stronger, and the weak become weaker. There’s a logic to that. The strong control the best resources, hence they naturally grow stronger, while the weak can only get the worst resources, naturally becoming weaker.
And Jiang Chen was undoubtedly among the weakest, in fact, he was even a cut below that. Neither Merit nor Fate were meant for him, it was not yet his turn. For this reason, he could only set his sights on Incense.
As for the toxicity of incense? It’s just a rumor, never confirmed nor disproven.
Regardless of whether incense is harmful, as long as he did not absorb it, it would not affect Jiang Chen. Like Merit, when transformed into Divine Ability, it did not enhance his realm, yet it was undoubtedly a blessing.
With this in mind, Jiang Chen’s Merit Gold Wheel suddenly appeared with a thought, shining brilliantly like a divine halo, suspended behind his head and continuously revolving.
The Incense Willpower enveloping him seemed to have received a call and rushed towards the Merit Gold Wheel.
Before long, the Incense Willpower on Jiang Chen’s body vanished, while on the Merit Gold Wheel, a new holy radiance had appeared.
This was the transformation of Incense Willpower. After absorbing the Incense Willpower, the Merit Gold Wheel seemed to have gained a touch of mystery and appeared more sacred.
Witnessing this, Jiang Chen felt enlightened. The Incense Willpower being referred to as Human Path Merit seemed justifiable.
...
Having dealt with the Incense Willpower, Jiang Chen continued forward, while the Incense Willpower kept flowing from the void and got absorbed by the Merit Gold Wheel.
At this point, the mixed thoughts contained in the Incense Willpower were no longer able to affect Jiang Chen at all.
Because, the mixed thoughts within the willpower were burned away by the incense right from the moment they were ignited. This is also why it is referred to as Incense Willpower, not the power of faith.
The Incense Willpower is not an inconvenient thing to have! If everyone can be influenced by mixed thoughts, then it wouldn’t be labeled as Human Path Merit.
Why do people light incense when praying to gods or worshipping Buddha? Can’t they just pray directly? Why do the additional step?
Upon scrutiny, it is for the purpose of utilising the fire from the incense to get rid of the mixed thoughts inside one’s willpower, to eliminate all potential problems.
Great Divine Transcendents always possess great wisdom, and they could not only foresee the issues that ordinary people worry about but also find solutions to them.
Incense is very safe!
As for Jiang Chen’s initial reaction being so dramatic, it can only be said that everyone who acquires Incense Willpower for the first time reacts the same way.
It serves as a warning to those receiving the Incense Willpower. Never forget that the Incense Willpower originates from all living beings. If one day this is to be used for cultivation enlightenment, it should be seen as a responsibility to protect all life forms.
...
"Speaking of which, if I continue like this, will I really become a Buddha unexpectedly?"
After rescuing the citizens of another city, Jiang Chen looked at the increasingly abundant Incense Willpower on his body and couldn’t help but joke.
As the saying goes, constantly thinking about something will inevitably lead to a response.
If the human race of the Xiniuhe Continent truly consider Jiang Chen to be a Buddha, then under the effect of collective belief, the Heavenly Dao will respond, producing another Buddha’s position to be bestowed upon him.
By then, even if Buddhism doesn’t approve, they will have to reluctantly accept Jiang Chen’s identity.
The Heavenly Dao grants the Buddha position, and Jiang Chen would naturally receive part of the fate blessings of Buddhism. If Buddhism refused to acknowledge Jiang Chen’s identity, then this fate would separate from Buddhism.
