Kirigakure Gamer : Rise of the mist-Chapter 52: Operation Tempest (2)
Chapter 52 - Operation Tempest (2)
[Land of Water]
A group of shinobi was crossing the land of water at high speed.
The world of shinobi truly was wonderful, with landscapes and cultures far surpassing anything Takeshi experienced in his past life. The food, especially, was delicious.
Looking at him devouring plates of noodles in a small rural noodle shop, Eleven asked a question. Over the past few days, she had overcome her fear of the new recruit and began to respect him. It was obvious to all that he was young, very young. However, they thought he was just 14 or 15. If they knew he was just ten years old, they would probably faint from the shock.
After all, without a bloodline release, there had probably been no such genius in Kirigakure since its founding.

Such was the power of the system.
"About what you proposed", Eleven spoke, "I will teach you the B-rank ninjutsu [Aquatic Sword]...But you have to respect your end of the bargain"
Takeshi paused and put the plate of noodles on the table: "Deal. I will transfer the 300 000 Ryô in your account upon our return"
Eleven nodded, and gave him a scroll: "Please destroy the scroll once you read it. I don't want the jutsu to leak...It is an important possession of the Yuki clan after all"
"Weren't you supposed to hide your identity? I thought it was a ground rule"
"There is no such thing as a shinobi capable of wielding ice without the yuki bloodline. Even if you know my affiliation, you don't know my identity"
"Fair enough", Takeshi nodded, "I won't pry"
Days passed, and Takeshi continued to make experiments on his jutsu. Occasionally, discussions with senior jonins would allow him to grasp intricacies of ninjutsu, although none pursued development of jutsu, contenting themselves with efficiently using them.
[Land of Fire]
Eventually, they reached the land of fire.
Seiryu, the Capture Division Captain, stopped the rest of the division after locking in with the target from afar.
"What you see ahead is the capital of the Land of Fire", he spoke carefully, "It holds in its center the Fire Palace and the Fire Temple. Our target lives in the palace, but rushing in the city and making a carnage would do us no good. We need to capture the target as swiftly as possible"
Two cut him swiftly: "What if we run into the twelve guardians? Our division is suited for capture, not large-scale skirmishes in enemy territory"
[Two - Lv. 72 Kirigakure Jonin]
Two was very close to Elite jonin level, except he was old. According to rumours, Takeshi could tell the man experienced the second shinobi war and suffered from it, though it was hard to tell when he was hiding behind a mask. His white hair and unyielding spirit, bowing to no one, not even Seiryu, told a lot about him.
Seiryu squinted and laughed: "Since when did you become so cowardly? You do make a point, though. What matters is the success of the mission, not your survival or the assassination of any of the twelve guardians. This is why we will divide our division in two groups. Two, you will lead an attack against the Daimyo, while I lead the rest to capture the prince"
'I can tell the tension is rising...', Takeshi analysed
[Bloodlust detected...]
[Spirit hidden stat high enough...You resisted fear status...]
This was a suicide mission. Any of the twelve guardian possessed at least jonin-level strength. Even Asuma, who had yet to become elite jonin level, possessed the Sarutobi bloodline and an extremely strong lineage from his father. Jutsu, weapons, experience...Even if he was not in his prime, Asuma possessed an arsenal of strength that made him fearsome.
The problem was that there were not just one or two...but twelve such individuals.
Two eventually nodded, the loyalty for the bloody mist exceeding his individual freedom.
"Fine. Can I at least choose who I take me with?"
Behind his mask, Seiryu started to smile with satisfaction: "Sure"
"I will take number 3, number 10 and number 11", Two said
Number 3 was not a kenjutsu specialist, but a ninjutsu specialist who possessed excellent hiding skills and also happen to be a chakra sensor. Additionally, he possessed some medical jutsu insights from his high chakra controls. In other words, he was a versatile character.
[Number Three - Lv. 60 Kirigakure Jonin]
Versatile and skillful, but stat-wise, slightly under-levelled compared to the rest of the team.
Takeshi was on the stronger end of the squad, considering that he was a jinchuriki, possessed the Haze Kenjutsu style in addition to extremely high proficiency in suiton.
If you considered his experience, number two was not too far from an elite jonin himself.
Lastly, eleven was a Yuki heiress with some strong bloodline release, and though she lacked individual strength, Number two had probably chosen her for her sealing abilities.
"Let's not waste time", number two shouted.
"HAI", the rest of the team answered in unison.
It was a suicide mission, one to attack the fire Daimyo, protected by twelve Konohagakure jonins, an army of samurai and under the protection of Konohagakure itself.
However, for the first time in a while, Takeshi smiled.
While jumping from tree to tree two spoke: "Don't be mad for choosing you. I chose each one of you because I have a plan. If we survive, I will make sure this is rewarded as an S-rank mission"
S-rank missions.
These were usually strictly reserved for elite jonins and kage-level powerhouses. Jiraya, Tsunade, Orochimaru in the Hidden village of the leaf would be the kind of people receiving such missions. However, sometimes danger could elevate a mission's rank to compensate for the risk premium taken by the shinobi, here being the case with the mission being a suicidal one;
Takeshi needed more jutsu to exploit his ninjutsu talent.
And Number Two just delivered an opportunity for him.
[Fire Daimyo Attack - S-rank Compulsory Mission
Number two was given the order to attack the Fire Daimyo to distract the twelve guardians and allow Seiryu and the rest of the Capture division to capture the Land of Fire's Prince. For efficiency's sake, he selected those he believed were the most efficient in the division for this mission.
