Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 57: Pregame Epilogue(1)
Chapter 57 - Pregame Epilogue(1)
"Oh, you are finally awake."
Not this guy again...
My eyes snapped to the man. He had grey eyes looking at me with a hint of amusement, and his brown hair was neatly styled. His face had a scar that ran vertically through his left eye. A brown vest was worn over a cream white shirt.
Sitting in a normal wooden chair, he had a cup of most likely tea in his hands, sipping away as he waited for me to wake up.
Valkan Weichts, the Clinkton Branchmaster of Ravenspire Guild.
He had the same cursed smile on his face. The one that gave, 'I know everything about you, you dumbass.' energy. Which I don't like.
"That's rude, you know... Staring at someone when they are sleeping."
"Is it though?" He set his cup of tea aside. "I was the one who helped you recover by giving you advanced healing potions."
"Do you even know how many injuries you sustained? Broken ribs, cuts everywhere in the body and a broken wrist. It cost me a fortune to heal you."
"Then why did you do it?" I asked, hanging my legs over the edge of the bed. "Could've just given me some normal potions and be done with it."
I stood up, planting my feet on the cold wooden floor, which ran a jolt of pain through my body, making me almost buckle my knees. Even with advanced potions, I am still feeling the pain. You have to be kidding me.
"Well, without those potions, you would have died from organ failure." He stood from his chair, his hands behind his back. "You should be grateful, you know? That I saved you from dying."
Fucking.... Sigh
"Thank you, Herr Weichts." I said, trying to mask my annoyance. This man, Valkan Weichts, is dangerous. It feels like he knows my identity, but is not purposefully saying that he knows.
He is giving hints that he knows.
"You are welcome," He replied, giving me a smile of acknowledgement. "Well, then, let us start the main thing I came here for."
My eyes narrowed as they met his. "What do you want from me?"
"Nothing much, just how did you defeat that undead Knight?"
"How else? By using my abilities." I scoffed.
"I see," He nodded, crossing his arms over his chest. "When we gave the undead Knight a thorough look. It seemed that he was cut by something that seemed to be imbued with lightning."
"Well, lightning is one of my affinities. It was revealed during the test."
"I do know that, but from reports from the supervisors, you don't seem to use it." His expression became unreadable, his gaze tearing into me.
Bastard was stalking me, huh?
"It is as if you are hiding something."
"Branchmaster, I believe some things should not be pryed upon," Valkan arched an eyebrow, but I did not stop. "Sometimes knowing too much can lead to some unwanted outcome... I hope you understand what I am implying."
He let out a chuckle at my words, finding them amusing. "Well, you are right, but are you even strong enough to do what you are implying?"
"Maybe not, but your grandson—Albert Weichts, isn't either."
The air became heavier as the smile on his face faded in an instant. Aura released from his body, wrapping all over him. His gaze darkened over me with horrifying intent.
Guess I struck a nerve, didn't I?
"I believe we should end this talk before something... happens," Valkan suggested, his voice tinged with anger that he was trying to mask.
"Well, that is indeed a shame," I smirked, looking at him trying hard not to snap and kill me. "Then later."
He did not reply and stormed towards the exit with heavy footsteps. Turning the knob he opened the door but before leaving he glanced at me. "One more thing, you should thank Lady Riana and her party, they were the ones who brought you back from the fifth floor."
"Worry not, I will."
He left the room, closing the door with an echoing slam. "I definitely got to him." I smiled.
[That was risky, Noah.] Dante's voice rang in my head.
You were there?
[Of course. I am always here.]
Right.
[That being said, you should thank that girl even if you outright rejected her in front of everyone.]
Ah, that did happen... last month, right?
Croft replied.
When I took on jobs as a Mazekin to earn money for establishing the guild, I had many encounters with Riana's party, which definitely did not seem like coincidences.
Her party included Collete, which was a given when she was revealed to be a bodyguard of hers. And then that loud guy—Ezekiel.
She also tried to invite me to join, but I rejected her. And by Dante's favourite job of pointing out things—I knew about her feelings for me, or you can say crush. Which was a huge burden for me.
She pestered me about joining her from time to time when we met, but I kept rejecting her. And then, when I had had enough, I ultimately outright said that I was not interested in her.
Which made her tear up.
But I am not in the wrong. You can't just force someone to court you and make them fall in love with you. Feelings come with time, not with harassment.
[I did feel bad for her.]
Don't. What she was doing was borderline harassment in the context of Earth.
Keeping that aside—
Croft, how many days have passed?

I looked at the blue screen in front of me. My mind raced with various questions.
And the most important of them that made me raise an eyebrow was the newly acquired affinity, Frostfire. Croft, expand on it.
Well, I know that much, but can you tell me how I acquired it?
[He was the Frost Sovereign?!] Dante yelped.
Yep, he was.
[Why was he so weak?]
What the fuck do you mean by weak? He nearly killed me!
[I meant he did not seem like a Sovereign.]
Croft explained.
And also, he was holding back.

Speaking of the halberd.
I looked at my right arm near the tricep, there was a blue sigil marked on it. It was in the shape of a diamond that you can find in cards with an ice crystal carving inside it.
"I think I should refrain from summoning it now. What if someone walks in?" I sat back on the edge of the bed. "I will check it out later."
For now, I have to return to Rasendorf and prepare for the academy. Only four days are left until then. I have to get the uniform, but I don't know if they sent it to the Blitzfeld Estate.
[Noah, the Astral Root.]
Fuck, I forgot about that one.
Another run in the Frostcove Maze, I guess.
